SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: just the usual childhood scrapes and scars. Nothing really memorable.
TATTOOS: Two Lacrosse stick crossed with a helmet and pair of gloves sitting at the bottom of the sticks on his left side.

DISLIKES: Talking on the phone, driving, superficiality, being judged, people knowing he’s dyslexic, maths, kids, commercials on the radio, ear buds for iPods, losing his cell phone, girls caked with makeup, cats, underground bands/the underground music scene, fast food places, hard liquor, his bio-dad, caramel sauce, balloons, plain vanilla ice cream.
FEARS: Flying, something- anything happening to his mom, meeting his bio-dad.
SECRETS: Eli found his biological father when he was eighteen. He has the address in Atlanta, Georgia and a phone number, but Eli is too scared of what would happen if he confronted the man who left his responsibilities behind.
PERSONALITY: Eli lived the carefree lifestyle through most of his life. He hung out with friends, partied and played lacrosse until he bled. His mother kept him from the troubles she'd had to face being a single mother, but he was smart, he knew. Eli was always so determined to better his skills, first in lacrosse, then when he found art. He was such a bright boy with only a minor annoyance in his dyslexia. But Eli is still a joker and still laying claim that he will never be the next Shakespeare or math genius. He'd rather be a prankster and goofball than sit at a desk all day reading and working out mathematic equations. He's a stubborn guy though, having grown up with dyslexia, he's had to work harder to understand half the work. If he's got something stuck in his head, he's going to see it through. He's very artistic, falling head over heels for every medium available to him. He's a pretty open guy through everything, though he is quite guarded about his biological father. Eli can get to be annoying, dramatic and opinionated but he means well, he's just a little hyperactive. But he's a lovable guy and so driven to make his mom proud.

HISTORY: Meredith Kane was too young to have such a big responsibility. But she found herself pregnant at fifteen and the father absent. His family soon packed up and moved, leaving Meredith alone with a growing belly and no way to properly provide for her unborn child. She quit school, got more hours at her waitressing job and picked up a second job while she could. She fell into growing up well before she should have but she was trying to make it work. For the longest time, only her mother knew, having run to her for advice about it all. Meredith and Cora were always close; the two kept Meredith's situation quiet from Matthew, her father until they couldn't any more. Naturally, he was beyond pissed at everyone. It took a while but he finally came around. It was exactly two weeks and three days after Meredith's sixteenth birthday when she was rushed into the hospital after her water broke at work at the coffee shop she was working at. Even through the shock of it all, she managed to text her mother, letting her know.
A few short hours later that felt like eternity, Meredith Kane gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Throughout her pregnancy, she’d thought up a dozen different names for both genders since she didn’t have a clue what she was having. But once she laid her brown eyes on that baby wrapped in the blue fleece blanket, she knew immediately, and quickly filled out the paperwork for her baby, Elijah Morgan Kane. Her parents helped out a lot since Meredith couldn’t work for the time being. She filled what little time she did have to herself with correspondence work so she could get her high school from home. It was easier for her to do anyway, since Eli was a pretty good baby and slept quite a bit. She cleaned up the house, sat down at the table and worked her way through high school classes. She tried to have some sort of dinner on the table for her parents when they came home from work.
As a child, Eli loved the outdoors, running around the backyard and at the park. He went fishing with his grandfather, camping ever summer with the entire family. It was a good life. And then school started. The first couple of years were as good as any could be, really. He excelled at the arts they did in class and had some troubles with other subjects. At that point, it wasn’t anything to worry about. He was still small, so it was easy to believe it was just his active imagination taking over and freeing his mind from the focus it should have had over the numbers and words. Eli managed to get through the lower grades of school without much trouble, keeping decent grades. High school was much worse and his struggles with the maths and English showed more and more every single day. So much so that his mother finally took him to the doctor to be tested for a learning disability; as it turned out, Eli was dyslexic. Both numbers and letters turned backwards, flipped upside down and switched places with other numbers, letters and full words.
Meredith and her parents worked with him as much as the three could help him with the academics of schooling but they weren’t much help. Thankfully, Eli found the arts and he had lacrosse. He’d always taken to drawing when he was bored and he was quite good, though obviously untrained. An art teacher had caught him during a lunch break drawing aimlessly in a sketchbook and told him he was good, offered to help train him. Eli took him up on the offer and switched a couple classes for his next semester for art courses. He worked with all sorts of canvases and even tried his hand at drama. If it was an artistic medium, he was good at it, though drama was a bit tougher. Learning his lines was the most work he’d put in for art. But he was determined to follow this through and the school play received rave reviews.
When the time came to start filling out college applications, Eli wasn’t sure where to begin. His works were good enough for a few colleges to provide a full ride scholarship. His mother had finished school and had even attended college through their night school program. She’d gotten herself through raising a baby well before her time, working to contribute food to the table and attended school to get a better job; a better life for her baby. Eli knew there was money set aside for his own education, but he didn’t want to use it. And since he’d been given a full ride to four different schools, he wouldn’t have to. Eli was quite proud of his mother’s perseverance and felt like she should spend the money she saved on herself, do something frivolous, take a trip, buy a new wardrobe or a new car; something that treated her for once. Eventually Eli chose a school a little further away than his family would have liked, but it was a once in a lifetime experience. Eli took a year at an arts college in New York that had a sister school in Florence, Italy. Even before he began his first term, he filed the paperwork to be transferred after his first year to the sister school, where he would stay for the remainder of his schooling.
Eli graduated from the sister school, his family surprising him by flying to Italy for his graduation. They had asked him to come home with him but while he’d been studying and painting, he’d landed a good job at a local gallery, while also selling some of his pieces through the gallery. They had a whole list of amateur artists and often showcased their work when they had enough pieces for a show. Eventually, though, home was calling his name. Florence had never quite felt like home and after a year, he said goodbye to his roommates, each fellow graduates, packed his things and moved stateside once again. He had great letters of recommendation from his employers and his schooling was quite incredible so it hardly took any time at all for Eli to land a job at a small gallery on the upper west side. It was a good gig and they allowed him to showcase his own art once a month. He made a tidy sum on the side, selling his pieces. It was more than enough to keep him in a good apartment and swimming in art supplies.
