ATHENA VIOLET WILLIAMS
FULL NAME: Athena Violet Williams.
NICKNAMES: Ena, Athy, A, Williams
AGE: How old they are
SEXUALITY: Straight
STATUS: Single
GROUP: Citizen
GRADE: N/A.
MAJOR: N/A.
JOB OCCUPATION: Archeology Professor.
HAIR: Long dark brown hair that falls below her shoulders. She generally keeps it loose these days but does put it up from time to time. She likes adding highlights and right now, she’s got some red in there.
EYES: Hazel.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Too many to count from all the digs and expeditions.
TATTOOS: Athena has a few tattoos. She got some ink to commemorate some of the places she went on digs. There’s an Amazon Tree Boa wrapped around her right leg like its slithering down, its head is on the top of her foot. She has an owl for her own namesake, Athena and symbolising wisdom and knowledge on the side of her left leg, just above her ankle. She’s got a small Ankh on the back of her neck, just under her hairline. Plus, she’s always thinking about more. She likes the tradition of them.
PIERCINGS: Just her ears right now.
PLAY-BY: Meghan Ory!
LIKES: History, hieroglyphics, Greece, teaching, spicy foods, documentaries, popsicles, oversized headphones, plants, flowers, animals, learning, Peru, water, beaches, accents, folklore, occasionally dressing up, scarves, hats, sunglasses, slippers, adventure, jungles, forests, parks.
DISLIKES: Being interrupted, losing her train of thought, getting ink on herself, anything frilly, misplacing her phone, wearing heels all the time, silence, heavy make-up, reality TV, fast food, sparkly vampires, fake plants, being unorganized, oatmeal, packing, unpacking, getting sick.
FEARS: Getting that phone call saying something happened on a dig and either of her parents were injured or killed, clowns, never getting back out in the field.
SECRETS: Athena came very close to running away from home, marrying Demetrius and spending the rest of her life completely unhappy. She came to her senses quickly enough, but it had been a very prominent option at the time.
PERSONALITY: Athena loves adventure. She lived her whole life never knowing what was going to come next and she thrived in that kind of environment. Having had the childhood that she did, Athena is practically fearless, looking at everything in life as just another adventure to have. Athena is smart but she’s book smart. She’s been in jungles and around people who protected her too much to really learn to be street smart. She has a working knowledge of a few martial arts, mostly old school moves she’d learned from Tribal leaders and a couple of the guys on the dig sites. Her two years away did nothing to help with that. Athena is a pretty happy person, really friendly and loves what she does. She’s new to teaching, so she’s nervous about that, but she’s hardly new to classrooms. She’s been lecturing for a few years, ever since she’d graduated and added all those fancy letters to the end of her name. Athena doesn’t have a temper she’s aware of. She’d never met a person that got her blood boiling just that way. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she actually found herself in the position of wanting to hit someone; she probably would do. Athena had been raised in odd locations but her parents had taught her to say what was on her mind, they wouldn’t be mad at her if she said something. She’s a stubborn girl not giving an inch in an argument. When she knows she’s right, she’s right and nothing but seeing it her way will settle her. She’s got some mystery behind her, with everything she’s done and hopefully will do.

HISTORY: Born in the middle of the first expedition of many to Greece, Athena had quite the adventurous childhood being dragged from one incredible place to the next. Her parents being archeologists, Athena saw some pretty spectacular things in her young life. She often pretended her father was Indiana Jones and they were on a grand expedition to find the next lost treasure of lore. She learned all sorts of things about all sorts of places and people. She learned the languages of the places they stayed, the cultures of the people she was around. Tribal leaders told her stories of long ago times. It was the best education a girl could get. Her mother made sure she kept her studies up; just because she got to explore the world, didn’t mean she could slack on her studies. She gained her high school equivalency at fifteen and began some college courses from there via the internet. And when most students were starting out as freshmen on campus, Athena was already a junior.
She graduated the top of her class, barely knowing a soul she’d studied with over two years. Shortly after, she packed up her bags, shipped them off to the house they kept but hardly used and returned to her parents’ latest expedition. She had done plenty before she’d gone off to university but now that she had returned; her parents gave her a lot more responsibilities with the dig. And Athena loved it. She didn’t have to run everything she did past either of her parents, she could log what she found without having to have one of her parents check it over. Despite growing up on all those digs, Athena had never actually been a part of them, so anything she found had to go through one of her parents. It hadn’t been too much trouble but now that she’d gotten the proper degree, her parents eased up quite a bit though they occasionally checked over her work to make sure she was filling everything out properly.
While they were in Greece, when Athena was sixteen, she met a local boy, Demetrius. His parents ran the small restaurant the group from the dig frequented. Athena spent more time than she needed to there, though she had a good excuse. She claimed she would be less tempted to shirk her schooling responsibilities if she weren’t around the dig in the hours she took away a day to study. They fell in love over time, with Demetrius showing Athena all the little details of his beloved city. He took her to the waters’ edge, dove into the warm Mediterranean waters. They lay out under the stars, made silly plans, and learned what love was. Athena had forever in her eyes, but Demetrius’s parents had other plans for their son. He was a year older and despite the fact that Athena could go if she wanted to, she hadn’t. She wasn’t ready to leave the expedition yet, not when they were so close to finding what they were looking for.
Though it broke her heart, as his, Athena and Demetrius said their goodbyes, promising to e-mail and keep in touch. He knew reception was spotty on the dig sometimes, but he still received e-mails regularly. It was he who sent them less and less frequently until his final reply simply said he couldn’t continue this and said goodbye. Athena’s heart broke again seeing that, but she threw herself into her work with the expedition and with school, adding an extra course so she could finish her degree faster. For her junior year, however, she decided it would be best to get away from the dig, and her parents; go to school properly for the first time in her life and see what being a regular person was all about. She attended her parent’s alma mater, the same school she’d been doing her courses through the internet.
She made a few friends, but still left the school at the end of her two years only knowing their names and no more than that. She kept in touch with those six friends, sending pictures of the dig and the cute guys working it often. Athena stayed with her parent’s roaming expedition for another few years as they moved from Egypt where they met up again to the jungles of Peru. Caroline and Chandler didn’t like staying in one place for too long and moved from site to site quite a bit. While most students were graduating and trying to figure out their next steps, Athena was putting the final touches on dissertations and essays, getting her another couple letters to add to the end of her name.
Athena was requested by her parents to go when the colleges and universities asked them to lecture, ironically being the one with the most experience of the group. She was the one that spoke at exhibit openings when pieces they found were put on display. Athena loved what she did, even turning down a couple job offers as professor. At the time, she hadn’t been ready to give up the adventure. After a few years though, she started wishing for a personal life. She wanted to spend time with friends and make some new one. She wanted to teach the next generation of the ins and outs of archeology. She was in New York, working out the finer details on an exhibit at the Museum of Natural History and the speech she would have to give when she was approached by the dean of NYU. He offered her a position but told her not to decline immediately, to think it through and get back to him when her business in the city was through. Eventually, she accepted the position and at the young age of twenty six added professor to her list of accomplishments.
