FELIX SLATER ARCHER
FULL NAME: Felix Slater Archer
NICKNAMES: Fee
AGE: Twenty-six
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Student.
GRADE: Senior.
MAJOR: Culinary Arts.
JOB OCCUPATION: Sophisticakes Owner (via inheritance).
HAIR: Brown, kept short and tidy most of the time, but long enough on top that there's something to run fingers through. Felix kind of loves having his hair played with, but doesn't outright say that. It'd be weird.
EYES: Blue
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: None worth mentioning, but quite a few small cuts/burns on his hands from kitchen accidents.
TATTOOS: He wants one, but he doesn't know what yet. And he wants whatever he does get to be perfect.
PIERCINGS: Nope. None
PLAY-BY: Sebastian Stan!
LIKES: Baking, being in the kitchen, date nights, James Dean movies, cupcakes, ice cream sundaes, strawberry flavoured anything, keeping recipe books, gooey pizza, running marathons, a good community, street fairs, giant slides, fundraising, bottled beer, his garden, rock climbing, shoes, light-hearted movies, olives, cooking breakfast, concerts, live music bars, winter and spring, 80's movies, dancing.
DISLIKES: Cemeteries, horror movies, action movies, too-spicy food, fussy eaters, wasps, spiders, roses, paperwork, delivery forms, curtains, summer and autumn, sad songs, sprains, fighting with friends, wars, online shopping, creepy music boxes, storage units, clearing things out, falling asleep when he has things to do, rowdy nightclubs, frozen processed meals, animal print, car trouble, taking tablets.
FEARS: Wasps, never having a family of his own, music boxes that have the figurines that spin around.
SECRETS: Felix has a few things that could be called secrets. He visits the cemetery every Sunday morning to speak with his dad and mom. Originally he wanted to run a restaurant rather than a bakery, but never told anyone that. And at one time he was actually going to enlist with the US Army. He came so close to doing it, but an old face talked him out of it at the last minute. Sometimes he still thinks about what might've happened if he'd gone through with that decision.
PERSONALITY: Felix is first and foremost a total sweetheart. He's the guy who will help the old lady across the road, give up his seat on the bus...he makes it look like chivalry is still alive and thriving in the city. A man with a sweet tooth he grew up on cakes and chocolate and as such still finds himself with strong cravings for everything gooey and moist and freshly baked. It's also the reason why he's athletic enough to hit the gym each morning; he doesn't want to start resembling one of the cinnamon buns he bakes! He's not ashamed to admit that he's a bit of a softie and one of the first to shed a tear at the end of a movie. There are certain things that hit him harder than others and these are the things that he'll work to avoid as best as he can. However, no one should think that this makes Felix weak. Too many people have underestimated him in the past only to then find out that he's a fighter. He might keep control of his temper, but he's the first to step in when he sees a situation getting out of hand and play the knight in shining armour. If anyone he truly cares for is being threatened or hurt then he's one of the last people you want to cross. Felix is protective and extremely caring, so he won't let a matter go. He's also capable of holding quite the grudge when he feels like it. A friendly and positive young man, Felix is a good friend who will always have a buddy's back even if he's not seen them in a while. He doesn't get out to the bars and clubs as much as he'd like to these days, but that doesn't change who he considers a friend. He's a motivated young man with big dreams and he's driven enough to make those dreams a reality. Felix is a hard-worker who probably pushes himself too hard at times, but won't slack off even when he probably should. He can manage multi-tasking pretty well, which is how he's coping with school and the bakery. Romance has taken a place on the back burner recently, but Felix is a romantic who likes to spoil his dates with the likes of home cooked meals, picnics and memorable nights. He's a charmer, but he's loyal and treat his girlfriend like a real princess. He might seem to settle down a little too quickly for some, but Felix just wants the same thing his parents had, and more.

HISTORY: Sophie met Kent during her college years. Junior spring break to be more specific. A group of her friends travelled from the University of Arizona to California for the break. Sophie's car happened to break down along a stretch of high way and before they could get a tow truck out there, Kent and some of his army friends stumbled upon them. They were on leave from their base for a weekend and ended up helping the girls with their car and accompanying them to where they were headed. In truth they were young men hoping for some carefree spring break fun before returning to duty, but Kent found more than that with Sophie. They had a light fling, but at the end of Kent's weekend he asked if she might want to keep in touch, which she did. It was a few phone calls when he had the chance, but soon they started meeting up when they could and when Sophie graduated the following year she knew exactly where she wanted to be. It was a big move and a risky choice for “some guy” but Sophie knew there was more to the relationship; Kent was special to her. They were engaged by the Christmas and married the following summer in a lovely ceremony where all their friends and family came to celebrate the marriage.
Their first home was on the military base where Kent was stationed. It was here that they created their little family and where Kent was almost late to the birth of his only son. Felix would turn out to be their only child, but that was a choice Kent and Sophie made when Felix turned three and the idea of more children seemed nice but not for them. They enjoyed watching Felix grow up and Sophie was forever spoiling her little boy with goodies and treats. Kent also had reasons of his own for not wanting more children. He had every intention of staying with the US Army for as long as they would have him and he knew that came with a risk. He was an active soldier who could be called away at any moment, and he often was ordered to go abroad for months at a time. Deep down he had a fear about never making it back to his wife and son and if that ever happened he didn't want Sophie to be burdened with more children than she could handle and he didn't want to leave his own children without a father. Having only one child helped quiet that fear, but it still existed and it was there right up until his dying day.
Felix didn't mind being an only child. He saw friends on the base fighting with their siblings all the time over toys and friends. He was thankful he didn't have any of that in his life and he was spoilt by the people around him. His dad's best friend George was always coming by with toys for Felix and he would make sure they were okay when Kent was overseas. Felix grew up calling him “Uncle George” and since they lived so far from Kent's family and Sophie's he was kind of the family Felix really saw in his life, aside from the big holidays. Sophie was mostly a stay-at-home mother who operated a small bakery out of her modest kitchen. She did the school bake sales and her talents landed her a few cake orders for birthdays, weddings and other big events. Felix spent a lot of time with his mom in the kitchen, learning how she baked, watching what she did and helping out when she would let him. He enjoyed it, even when other kids told him that it was girly to bake cupcakes and treats. Felix didn't care and Sophie was proud of her son when he told her how much he loved being there with her even if meant the boys wouldn't play with him for a few days.
He loved it when his dad came home and they could be a proper family again. It was really everything a little boy could want and like most he wanted to grow up to be just like his father. Felix did everything he could to make Kent proud of him and Kent was proud. They were a happy family, close and loving. All of that changed when Kent was deployed shortly after Felix's eleventh birthday. It came with a knock on the door and Felix heard his mother scream before the sobs collapsed her to the ground. His Uncle George was there to pick her up and to explain to Felix what had happened. The funeral was a tough day, one Felix was old enough to understand, but at the same time too young to really understand it. They spoke about how Kent was a brave soldier who died for his country and quoted people and times Felix knew nothing about. All he really understood about that day was that his father wasn't coming home and that he had to be the man of the house now, according to Uncle George.
A few months later, when Kent's insurance paid out, Sophie decided that she wanted to be closer to her family again. Originally she had been born and raised in upstate New York, and that was where most of her family still lived. She made a move to Manhattan, choosing the best choice for her and Felix. A letter from Kent, written for the event of his death, encouraged Sophie to pursue her passion for baking. He even told her to invest the money into making a career from it. She did. She found a small little space to rent and worked a play on her own name into the business. Early in the summer she opened Sophisticakes and by the winter they were already bringing in customers and the pastries and cakes were flying out of the doors.
His Uncle George frequently visited to check in. He would tell Felix that he promised Kent that he would look out for him if anything ever happened. They'd stay up late and talk about Kent; telling stories, jokes and just about anything else they could think of. It was good memories, even if they were sad to talk about. Felix helped out at the bakery when he could and he developed a strong love for food. When it came time to make a choice about his future, Felix was originally ready to make a move to enlist with the US Army. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and make the man proud. He was there ready to hand over his papers and make it official when his Uncle George showed up and talked Felix out of it by explaining that the army was not what Kent wanted for his son.
In the end Felix went to college in the city to study culinary arts. He dreamt originally of running his own restaurant and worked hard to try and make that a reality. However, during his junior year Sophie fell sick and a virus that hit the hospital ultimately claimed her life too. He took the rest of the year off to come to terms with the death of his mother and then returned to school. This time his priorities had changed. Felix had been left everything in Sophie's will and that included the bakery. At first he thought about selling it, but then he knew he couldn't. In the end he wound up taking over his mom's duties while also attending school.
In his final year now, Felix has little time for anything else though he wishes things were different. One day they will be, and that's all the hope he needs.
