SECRETS: Sloane is actually thinking about going back to school again to finish her high school education and then head on to college. She's just scared of what people might say to her or that she'd fail at it and people would judge her. She doesn't know what she'd study yet, but she does have a few choices selected. She could do with a second opinion, but won't share the idea with anyone.
PERSONALITY: Sloane comes across as being very fiery and impatient which can be true. All of her life she's not been a fan of waiting around and is rather fidgety and restless when she's forced to. She's mouthy and the kind of girl who speaks before she thinks. Impulsive is a trait that runs through every area of her personality and life and more often than not she'll do something before thinking about the consequences or the repercussions. A fighter, Sloane has a very short fuse and a nasty bite to match her bark. Normally she can keep it to harsh words, but sometimes she snaps and can throw a punch or seven. Loud, she's the kind of girl who mostly doesn't care what people think. She'll speak up about an ignorant customer in a store while they're still in earshot, or make a complaint about someone when they can see and hear her. Fiesty barely comes close, but Sloane can be rather volatile. She doesn't enjoy letting people get close to her and she doesn't appreciate offers of help. Fiercely independent and wily it takes a lot to convince Sloane to relax or let people in. She might be a rather angry character, but she's also sociable just so long as the interactions are trivial or about things that don't touch too close to home. Sloane is a private person who likes to keep things that way after a turbulent past left her with several trust issues. Despite her outwards attitude and appearance, Sloane actually has a pretty smart brain under her mass of messy hair. She could have gone places and some times still thinks about doing just that. She can be fickle or indecisive when it comes to life changing choices; this is just a manifestation of the fear of things changing again. Love has not been particularly kind to her, which has left Sloane with quite the brick wall around her heart. She's difficult to date and is the girl who might deliberately sabotage something great just so she doesn't have someone seeing her vulnerabilities. Saying that, she's aggressive when she does like someone and is bold enough to make the first move in a bar or club. Sloane doesn't set out looking for relationships but sometimes a girl can get very lonely in the world and might just need a short lived fling with human comfort...MOTHER: Rosaline Brienne Cole, 42.

HISTORY: Rosaline was a reckless and careless teenager who had more interest in parties, boys and her social life than she ever did in school. It was something that backfired drastically on her when she fell pregnant at fifteen with a fleeting on-off boyfriend who was six years her senior. Graham ended up serving time in jail for their relationship when her parents found out, but Rosaline was blinded by her “first love” and decided to keep their baby with big plans to settle down with Graham when his time was served. Sloane was rather annoyingly named after the local bar and hangout of Rosaline and her friends. Given her father's last name the innocent baby girl was brought into a world which would prove to be hell for her.
Graham and Rosaline were forever finding themselves in some kind of drama and she was forever walking out on him, threatening to take him for everything for the sake of their daughter. It was their daughter that kept Graham around to work things out, but it was not a happy household. Sloane's earliest memory is sitting in her crib with an empty bottle while Graham roared at Rosaline about some guy she apparently hooked up with one night after a few too many drinks. It meant that when she announced a second pregnancy a little while later, there was doubt about who the father could be. Graham tried to be responsible and didn't argue or demand DNA testing and a second daughter Marilyn was born. Children don't fix problems and it was a wrecking ball through their home most nights of the week. Rosaline was irresponsible but capable of wrapping people around her finger to play the innocent victim. Graham doted on his daughters to try and keep them as one unit, but it was taxing on him, even for the sake of the kids.
Sloane was six when Graham finally had enough. He tried to take Sloane and Marilyn with him, but Marilyn screamed for her mommy and he lost the court case because of his prior conviction. Sloane was young, but she knew that Graham was the better parent. His visits were few and far between, thanks to Rosaline. Ultimately he was the voice on the end of the phone whenever Sloane was able to sneak in a call. To Marilyn it didn't matter if Rosaline put them to bed and then went out all night long; mommy could do no wrong. Sloane was different though. She was known by many as a difficult child, but in truth she just saw the reality of their situation and understood that Rosaline should not be going to clubs and bringing home random guys when there were two innocent little children who needed her.
Sloane grew up before she should have, but it wasn't in a good way. She had a temper, was not a friendly kid and was more inclined to cause trouble than she was to help it. It was a shame because Sloane had promise. She had a good head on her shoulders and made good grades in school, but her temper was her downfall. When she lost her cool she snapped and took out everyone around her and usually gave in to impulse reactions that weren't always wise choices. Rosaline acted like she had no idea why her daughter was that way when Marilyn was such a good girl who clutched to mommy's leg when she was home. Sloane wasn't so easily bought by lies and empty promises and it left her angry, lonely and with many trust issues by the time she was a teenager.
Teenage years brought more trouble to Sloane. Rosaline settled down with a man called Ford, but he was a man Sloane did not like. He made comments about Marilyn's neediness and acted like Sloane was nothing more than the dirt on his boot. With Ford, Rosaline had two more children and Sloane instantly feared for how they would grow up too. Rosaline honestly couldn't see what she had done wrong all those years ago and frequently insisted that she had tried her best to be a good mother. When Sloane fought with her Ford would step in and grab the young girl which often led to Sloane lashing out more and kicking him. Since they lived in his house it wasn't long before he told her that she had to shape up or ship out. It was a no brainer. Sloane called her father, packed a bag and moved in with him.
Graham wasn't up to much those days. He had a minimum wage job and had turned into quite the loner, but he was good to Sloane. He introduced her to fighting, suggesting martial arts classes as an outlet for all of her hostility. It worked to an extent; it tired her out that she didn't really have the energy to get into trouble any more. Living with Graham was good for Sloane, but then he fell ill when she was sixteen. Cancer hit him pretty hard and when things were starting to look bad Sloane dropped out of high school and started working full time to keep food on their table. Graham wanted her to finish her education, but she was more concerned about his health. He made a remarkable recovery after a three year battle with the disease; a battle he knew he couldn't have won without Sloane helping him. Graham wanted Sloane to go back to school immediately, but she was caught up with drama in her life. Ford had been spreading terrible things about her, Rosaline was living a wild life whenever her husband was on a business trip and Marilyn was still trying to ignore the reality of the situation, acting like she had the perfect family around her. Sloane's concern was for her half-siblings who she saw at the park every weekend when they met up in secret. Ford hadn't wanted his children around the bad influence that was Sloane and frequently refused to let her attend their school events, birthday parties or holiday celebrations. Sloane was clever though and they all met in secret when they could.
She ended up in New York after a fight with Ford left him threatening to press charges for the damage she had caused to his car. Sloane had smashed the windscreen and tail light as he drove away. He had caught her treating Daniel and Phoebe to a chocolate shake and his harsh words for Sloane cut deep enough that she had lost her temper completely. Graham gave her the money for a fresh start before she could give Ford any more reasons to call the cops. New York at twenty-one was a scary kind of place. She flitted from hostels and lodging arrangements for a bit until she had a job at a local gym. It wasn't much, but it got her free classes and she got to try new things. After that she found an apartment and moved in. Sloane was still haunted by her past and things were not good to her. She had a short fuse that got her into trouble and the cops threw her in the drunk tank once or twice around the holidays when the troubles took hold of her hard.
Life spiralled out of control with no one around to know her. One day, when she was twenty-four, Sloane was staying after one of her kendo classes when a man approached her. She gave him the lip people were accustomed to, but he laughed and handed her a card. When he said he worked on movies she thought he was trying to mess with her, but he was truthful. They were searching for a stuntwoman for a movie. The original had taken a nasty fall and would be out of action for the rest of their shooting schedule. Sloane had the right build and appearance for the part and he promised a nice pay and any extra training she might need, if she was open to the idea. Sloane stayed up all night staring at his card and called him the next morning. After that, her life was set.
Studios and movie sets became her business and bruises and scars were not uncommon for Sloane. It was all part of a day's work and eventually she moved out of New York City and into a small, quiet cabin a few hours from the city. Her commute came by motorbike, but she didn't mind the travelling. She could crash on set or at friend's places if she had a really early morning call, but more often than not It was no big deal to her. Sloane has been doing the job for two years, but she's still got a lot of issues from her past that crawl up to cause her problems. Secret calls to her siblings often leave her searching for trouble, but she wants to keep in touch with them like she does with Graham. If Sloane for one second things that something might be wrong, she'll be on her way to Bismarck in a heartbeat to fight for those who need her.
