TYSON ZACHARIAH DANFORTH
FULL NAME: Tyson Zachariah Danforth
NICKNAMES: None.
AGE: twenty-two
GENDER: male
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Student.
GRADE: Senior.
MAJOR: Dance.
JOB OCCUPATION: Broadway Usher.
HAIR: Very dark brown, kept short and neat, just long enough to run his fingers through it. There's a slight wave in it when it hits a certain length, but Tyson doesn't let this bother him too much unless it's curling into his eyes.
EYES: Brown.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Not really worth writing home about.
TATTOOS: He's a fan of the ink, it's safe to say. He has an armband tattoo on his left arm, that comes around to meet the dB musical note on his inner upper arm. He has the tragedy/comedy masks over his ribs, a zombie hand giving the sign of the horns on his right calf, a winking smiley face on his right ankle. He has his brothers names on his leg too.
PIERCINGS: None
PLAY-BY: Tyler Posey!
LIKES: dancing of all kinds , parties, meeting new people, skylines, tattoos, dive bars, nightclubs, pomegranates, late night radio, crosswords, empty dance studios, loud music, performances, winning a fight, being right, doodling, pecan pie, tequila shots, cool showers, camping, dogs, shopping, independent cinemas, peppermint, living away from his mother, odd socks, teaching children, his freedom, ice skating.
DISLIKES: feeling pressured, tangerines, slippers, clingy girls, feeling angry, losing a fight, people mocking his major, ostriches, repetitive playlists, bad break ups, his sister’s exes, citrus scented anything, getting sick, being cold, swallowing pills, injuries, sand in his shoes, formal events, his mom’s “crazy”, perfectionists who are overly so, leather trousers, “frenemies”, guns (though he does have one), gossip.
FEARS: ostriches, never dancing again, becoming like either of his parents.
SECRETS: Tyson’s mother has forced him and his siblings to centre stage for as long as he can remember, but Tyson’s true passion actually lies in the teaching of dance rather than the performing of it. He’s never told anyone since his mom will most definitely explode if she finds out..
PERSONALITY: Tyson has always been taught to aim high and be ambitious. He feels like second best isn’t good enough and always strives to reach the top, even though he hates himself for it at times. He’s a brooding gentleman who often takes a little bit of time to warm up to other around him, but once he does then he’s up for all kinds of fun and mischief. He is, surprisingly, quite the rule-breaker, but one look at his mom can explain that. He’s on the secretive side, which also happens to make him a good confidant to his friends. He dislikes cheap gossip and does his best to avoid the petty dramatics that life tends to hand out. Tyson does have a temper and it often flares if people mock him for being a dancer or make any other cruel comments about the people in his life. When he’s angry, he doesn’t enjoy it, but he can be a jerk to those who make the enemy list. He’s a volatile man at times and sometimes he can hold back his frustrations until he finds a healthier way to channel them, but there are other times when he will just snap and throw the first punch. He’s a flirt and has a way of charming girls, but he’s never looked for anything serious. Tyson is too keen to enjoy his life and settling down just brings up fears that he’s not ready to face just yet. He tries to be a good guy, but he sometimes says the wrong thing and lands himself in real trouble. Still, he has a soft spot for children and while he tends not to talk about it even with those closest to him, the boy has quite the talent when it comes to connecting with a younger generation; so long as they’ll put their dancing shoes on and give it a chance!

HISTORY: Tyson was the second child born to the couple. Alyssa never changed her name when she had married Wesley because it might confuse her ‘fans’. She was a small time actress back then who was fighting dirty to get her place in the spotlight. She dreamed big and wanted the same for her children. From the moment they could walk and talk she was pushing them into modelling shows, drama classes, dance classes, singing classes…you name it and Alyssa blew the money on it. Wesley worked long hours in a mundane office job and often just gave into his wife’s demands since he was too exhausted to really listen to her or deal with her drama when he did finally make it home from another long and tedious day at work.
Tyson was three when Alyssa finally got the big break she had been looking for. It was a role in some movie that eventually sparked and then fizzled out after a few years. By this point though, the family was complete and Alyssa was focusing all her time and energy into becoming a star and making sure that her children followed in her footsteps. She had nannies take care of each of them and ensure that they got to their classes and tutorials on time. Really, the kids never got the chance to be kids and it wasn’t uncommon for them to pass out on the sofa when it was time for TV or crawl into bed rather than spend the extra twenty minutes they had managed to earn before bed playing with their toys. If they dared try to tell her that they didn’t want to go to one of their lessons then she would guilt trip, yell or take away something they loved. Tyson could remember being young enough to need a night light and she took it away because he had thrown a tantrum about the singing lessons she insisted upon. Alyssa was a pushy mother and that was putting it politely. Wesley daren’t speak up against her and so the children soon learnt that they had no choice but to comply with the exhausting routine she had put in place for them all.
Alyssa began working away a lot more, which meant the pressure was off the children, but she kept close tabs on them through her ‘friends’ and the nannies left to take care of the house in her absent. She didn’t accept second place from her kids and there was always room for improvement. They would never make it big if they didn’t prove that they could stand out from a crowd. Alyssa had a knack for stealing the show and she wanted to pass that onto her kids regardless of whether or not it was what they wished for their own futures. Tyson really only enjoyed dancing. He didn’t have the voice for the singing and acting came with too many lines, stage directions and fussing about for his liking. Being sent to a performing arts school left him with very little choice and he had to do it, but his heart was always in the dance studios rather than in the other areas of study.
He developed a temper because of the kids in their neighbourhood who didn’t go to his school. The boys especially would taunt him for his dancing and there were always remarked made just to see how far it would go before he would snap. It became a game to the boys on the streets and they were often left surprised when they realised that dancing his whole life had actually left Tyson in quite an impressive physical condition by the time his late teens rolled around. Like most boys of his age, he began fumbling his way through the dating experience and had so many of those first experiences that seemed dramatically hyped up compared to the reality of it all. Alyssa refused to let “some girl” distract Tyson from his “destiny” though, and always encouraged her son to get rid of the extra weight that was taking up the free time he could have been spending practicing his techniques or perfecting his posture.
When college came around for Tyson, Alyssa was overjoyed to hear that her son was going to New York. In her mind, New York meant Broadway and Broadway meant stardom. In Tyson’s mind, New York was just far enough away that she couldn’t drop in every weekend or keep tabs on his every little move. Sneaking out and in just to be a normal Miami kid had been tiring to say the least and he needed to get away from all of that and experience his own freedom.
It was during his sophomore year that his dance instructor asked him about volunteering for a teaching group. It was part of a charity scheme in a community to try and encourage some of the more poverty stricken children of New York City to get off the streets and away from the violent gangs that had been appearing in some areas. Tyson was, after all, a great dancer and being male she thought he might help encourage some of the younger boys to stay with the group. He wasn’t sure at first and the opening session was a tough one complete with heckles and jeers that kept pushing his temper close. It was the street dance that got through to them, with the raw, aggressive potential behind each routine and soon it became a regular Thursday night gig for Tyson, who spent a few other evenings working on Broadway as an usher, just to keep his mom at bay.
Most of college flew by without incident or trouble. He danced through everything he had to, held his tongue for trips home and “surprise” visits from his mom whenever she was just working in the city and spent most of his time just enjoying his life. The stresses of college were nothing compared to the pressure his mom had put him under as a child and he was just making the most of finally being free from her rule. He knew that she’d always find criticism to hand out to her kids and it seemed that by putting them down she made herself feel better. Well, Tyson just wanted to be done with it. The Thursday night classes he taught were proof enough that his future would be in choreography and teaching; not centre stage with a packed theatre looking his way. The poor boy just needed to find a way to break that news to his mom.
