BRECHAN CLARISSA BRASWELL
FULL NAME: Brechan Clarissa Braswell
NICKNAMES: Breck.
AGE: Eighteen
GENDER: Female.
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Student.
GRADE: Freshman.
MAJOR: Teaching & Education.
JOB OCCUPATION: Assistant at the campus store.
HAIR: Brown, cut into a shorter bob, but frequently Brechan grows it out and then chops it off again. She's not really too fussy about what her hair does, so long as she doesn't look like she's been dragged through the outback.
EYES: Hazel.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: A few faint ones, but none worth discussing.
TATTOOS: None.
PIERCINGS: Just her ears the once.
PLAY-BY: Maisie Wiliams!
LIKES: animals, sports, babysitting, the rain, American Football, cricket, baseball, soccer, open water, being outdoors, cartoons, the internet, asking questions, catnaps, photographs, speaking different languages, helping people out, having the chance to dress up, hot weather, dancing, ice in her drinks, fresh juice, movies with happy endings, rag dolls, dandelion burdock.
DISLIKES: death, winter, feeling cold, wearing too many layers, extra cushions/throws, boring lectures, bullies, peer pressure, being treated like a child, cliffhangers, the flu, birthday parties, getting so hooked on a TV show that she loses track of time, trying to flirt, shouting at other people (but she'll do it in a heartbeat), hunting for fun, poachers, shotgun kick/recoil.
FEARS: Never making good on her dreams, something happening to her brothers, drowning.
SECRETS: Ended up in New York after her parents decided they were going to send her away to her maternal grandparents, just until some drama had blown over back home. Brechan figured that she might as well carry on her education while she was there and took the chance.
PERSONALITY: Brechan is a very easy going kind of girl. She's loyal and laidback but with a childish mischievous side to her personality that she frequently used on her brothers back home. Brechan could possibly be described as a tomboy since she's into her sports and isn't afraid to stick her hands in and get dirty. She's happy and some might even say hyperactive a lot of the time, boasting a great enthusiasm in life. While having quite a childish manner, Brechan is also responsible and trustworthy. She's a girl who can easily be described as loyal to her friends and caring to pretty much everyone while being reliable. However, she's not some sweet little angel. Give her a reason to and Brechan will easily rise to the challenge of any argument or confrontation. She's young and small, but loud and by no means is she meek. She's tough and can stand up for herself easily enough, even though she doesn't get any joy from confrontations. When it comes to love, Brechan knows she's too young to really know what she's looking for, but she's not about to pull the first guy she meets into her bed. She's still navigating the waters here, taking her time with it and is focusing more on everything else than getting a boyfriend. However, she would be intrigued to know what New York guys might capture her attention.

FATHER: Oliver Bentley Braswell, 52.

HISTORY: It had been Oliver's dream ever since he was a young boy to move to Africa and work on a game reserve out there. His childhood in London, England has been full of safari trips and documentaries. When he was older, he studied everything he needed to and worked for a year in the London Zoo before he was finally brought out to a reserve in Botswana. There he mainly shadowed the more experienced vets and workers for a few years before he had all the experience to be left in charge of certain things and areas. It was then he met Jaime. She had come from New York with a select group of postgraduate students. They had an instant attraction, but he suspected she would leave as soon as the six week trip was over, so he never really thought too much about it when they were together. Jaime surprised him by heading home, only to return a month after her schooling was through. She got a job doing a lot of admin work at first, but progressively got to go out on the safari tours with the other guides. As time passed, their relationship grew and soon there was a wedding at sunset and then a baby on the way.
At first they were going to head back to either England or New York for their first born, but when the owners of the reserve offered to let them come in on a partnership with him, they remained in Botswana. He was getting older, with no family of his own and they were the closest of his staff to him. Both passionate about the animals and the potential of the reserve, he knew they wouldn't let him down when the future came for them to take a primary position running the site and keeping it safe and in operation.
Brechan was born slap in the middle of the wet season. A happy little baby, she caused her parents hardly any trouble at all and everyone who worked at the reserve fussed over her and spoilt her silly. Jaime's only concern for their darling daughter was that she was fair skinned like her. It was easy for Jaime to cover up and protect her skin, but a little child was completely different. However, they managed and Brechan could easily avoid the harsh rays of the sun when she was running around outside or helping her dad in the vet centre. Two small boys joined the Braswell family as the years ticked by; Troy and Damien. Brechan made the perfect big sister and annoyed them, tormented them, but took care of them when the days moved by.
In school Brechan made decent grades and had a small group of friends. She was known mostly for her family's part in the game reserve, with kids eager to come around and see what life was like there. Some seemed to think that lions just walked around the house or something, but Brechan was more than happy to explain about the miles of land that the animals actually inhabited; they only came closer to the family home when they had been brought in for medical treatment or other harmless reasons. Still, Brechan and her brothers named all of the animals on the reserve and growing up they learnt the skills and talents to identify them all.
With Troy and Damien too young to really help out, it was only Brechan who got to go out on checks and help out in the surgery. Even if it was just passing her dad tools, she loved it. She saw all the animals on the reserve as her wild pets, and was devastated whenever one of them passed. It was her emotions for them and the animals that made her realise that she could never work on the reserve with her mother and father. It became a fun job to help out and go on the safari runs, but she didn't want to spend her life crying over sick animals who she couldn't help. The reserve would always be her home though and it was the place she knew she'd keep returning to and pitching in with; no matter what choices she made for her own future.
Ultimately, Brechan discovered that she was good at teaching. It all came about after Troy asked her to come to his school and help him with a presentation about home and family. She held the attention well and helped Troy with his work. It was afterwards that the teacher suggested that maybe Brechan looked into a teaching career. It was something she definitely put some thought into and spoke to both of her parents about, but before she could run off and make any hasty plans for her future, fate threw a spanner in the works.
Brechan had always kept to her close group of friends and done the right thing. She wasn't some rebel and the worst thing she ever did was pull a prank or two on her brothers and friends. However, one of her friends did go off the rails a bit and she tried to take Brechan with her. There was a “party” for the end of the school year and their secondary education, but on this night, the friend in question ended up in a room with strange men and far too many substances for Brechan to even remember. Getting a group of friends, they got the girl out of the room and Brechan drove her to the hospital since she was barely showing signs of life. She had overdosed on some toxic cocktail and Brechan didn't think twice before calling the police about the incident. She had no idea what had really happened, but she knew that there was something that had to be done about it.
The aftermath of it all cost Brechan a friend, left her parents worried about what company she kept and what she might get herself into at university. With the stress and the drama and with Brechan telling them that she was convinced some man had followed her around the market from school, Jaime and Oliver decided that the best course of action would be to send Brechan to New York for a vacation. Jaime's parents had a Manhattan house where she could stay and she could just take some time to let this all blow over again. It might have been overkill, but they would rather be safe than sorry. It was Brechan who made the decision to take up school over in America. A good decision too.
Brechan had only been to New York a handful of times in her life, but she loved the place and had no problem moving there. She stayed with her grandparents at first, but then she wound up spending most of the time on her own there since they would fly off on retirement trips and cruises. Brechan could look after herself though, always had done, so she wasn't phased by the change. She was just eager to start school. There are still times of homesickness and the animals in the Central Park Zoo are nothing like her wild beasts back home, but she feels like she's in the right place.
