PERSONALITY: Damon is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if he knew it would help. Country born and bred, it’s difficult to toss aside years of a lifestyle. Underneath that New Yorker exterior, that sweet, country boy still exists. He fancies himself a gentleman, holding open doors for pretty girl, showing up for a date with flowers, both conventional and not so much. Don’t be fooled by this charming man, he’s got quite the temper hidden way down deep inside him. Even he hadn’t been aware of it until he heard the news about his cousin’s attack. His New York friends held him back from attacking a guy at the bar one night before he made it back home, and it was then he found the anger. Damon’s an athletic guy, pouring his frustrations into his workouts, clearing his head and giving himself clarity and insight. A smart man, Damon can easily work out how to twist most things in his favour; especially when it comes to his work. He doesn’t like to call it what it is but he can be quite the manipulator, weaving his words to get what he wants for his clients. He’s a good, family oriented guy, trying to find his place in the world while helping his cousin get her life back.MOTHER: Megan Farley & 53.

HISTORY: There wasn’t any exciting meeting for Kurtis and Megan Farley. They were assigned to the same study group in law school. And to anyone looking on, the pair hated each other. He was studying to protect the small business of his hometown while she was studying to save kids from messy divorces. Her parents split when she was twelve, just old enough to really understand what was happening and old enough to be allowed to make up her own mind as to who she wanted to live with; her mother or her father. Ultimately, with the help of another lawyer, one not even privy to the finer details of her parent’s case, she chose to live with her father. In the end, it was the right choice for her and it gave Megan a look into what she really wanted to be when she was all grown up. In truth, Megan and Kurtis probably did dislike each other at the beginning. They didn’t know each other and it seemed like every study session ended in a heated debate that came too close to yelling too often. It was at one of these late night sessions in the school’s library when things changed. It was nearing the end of February and it was freezing outside, both remember that clearly enough. The other members of their group started dropping like flies with the flu. Neither one of them quite remember how it all happened. Megan was trying to be civil, but of course, Kurtis says the same thing. Megan being the more hot-headed one slammed her book into the desk, something they both remember and laugh about. The next memory had them both yelling, Megan storming off in a fit to find another book she needed. In one second she was searching out the book, in the next she was spun around, pushed up against the shelf by Kurtis and his lips ravaging hers. They laughed about it now, about it having taken too long to get to that point and from then, they’d hardly been apart.
Marriage and babies had always been in the cards but not right away. The wedding took a year to plan but neither had wanted children immediately; maybe five or more years down the line so when Megan surprised Kurtis with the news a mere fourteen months after their wedding vows were spoken, he was stunned but no less excited about the news. Sure, their son or daughter was coming a couple years earlier than planned but who really needed plans anyway? They made juggling young careers with a young family look easy thanks to the help of family surrounding them. Megan and Kurtis added two more to their brood in three years and never looked back. Damon being the oldest was pushed into helping out with all the cousins but he didn’t mind, he enjoyed how close the entire family was. Eventually though things changed as they got older and started getting their own friends, their own lives. As sad as that was, it was also good for them all and when Damon was old enough, he packed up and headed to New York for school.
The first three years were as uneventful as three years in New York could be. He was a country boy in the big city so he was teased a little but he was stronger than that; words didn’t hurt him but his country twang would hinder him so he spent the next four years trying to tone down his thick Kentucky accent. And for the most part, he succeeded but his friends could always tell when he’d been home. Damon was twenty one, in his senior year -and sitting at the desk in his living room, working on an assignment for one of his classes when his mother called with the news of Rowan. He promised he would be there as soon as he could and after calling his professor’s and his boss, he hoped in his car and drove home fueled by the gas in the tank and the coffee in his stomach. By the time he spoke to everyone and actually got home again, Rowan had been in a coma for a week. He stayed just long enough to see his uncle Rick take the men who attacked Rowan into custody. After that he made frequent enough trips but even he didn’t feel it was enough. But there was also nothing he could do to help. He had been taking classes to get a degree in Public Relations, not medicine; which he achieved and started working for a PR firm immediately out of school thanks to the placement programme. It was a low rung on the ladder but it didn’t take Damon long to work his way up that ladder, finding himself with a client of his very own in a well-known theatre on Broadway and shortly after proving himself a few of the leading cast members hired him as well. He still went back home when he could but those trips were few and far between thanks to work but he agreed to help when his father called to relay a conversation he’d had with his brother, Rowan’s father. At that point, Damon thought it was too late to give his uncle a call so he waited and was happy to hear him agree, however reluctantly. Damon met them on the street; showed Rowan and his uncle Rick the apartment and around the area she would be spending the next four years. Damon helped Rowan pick out decorations for her new room, paints and furniture that she liked since the room previously housed nothing than a home office, which he easily made space for in the living room; a space Rowan could also use for her schoolwork if she wanted. He promised he would take good care of her and Damon wasn’t in the habit of breaking promises.
