HISTORY: Angel is mixed, Korean on his father’s side, and Guatemalan on his mother’s side. Although he and his dad aren’t enemies, he’s always found himself closer to his mom and sister. Before they were even crawling and talking, Angel met the son of his mom’s friend, Brandon Fischer. They quickly formed an inseparable bond.
In fourth grade, Angel met a girl with the pick-up line of “your name is almost my sister’s” (and it apparently worked). He quickly became friends with Anna Kim, who was full Korean. One day on the playground, Angel went to defend Anna from the kids teasing about them always hanging out during recess when instead of stepping forward, he fell. And although he tried, he couldn’t hear anything except a loud ringing. His parents were notified and they took him straight to a doctor to find out the problem.
After a few weeks of testing, the doctor confirmed Angel had something called Meniere’s Disease. Usually diagnosed in adults between 30 and 50, the doctor explained to the family it was not unheard of in younger patients, and there were surgeries that, though expressing some risk, could cure it. Angel immediately refused. Only after being pressured by his mother, he told his parents he was more scared of never hearing again, even if the risk was low, than the attacks.
His parents accepted his reasoning, and they adjusted instead to deal with someone with Meniere’s Disease, switching to a more low-sodium diet, and also “attack proofing” the house. At school, Angel still spent more time with Anna, though it was more hidden than before so the other kids couldn’t bother them.
By sixth grade, Angel confessed to having feeling for Anna, and she said she reciprocated them. When Brandon said he felt lonely now that Angel was dating, Anna mentioned her best friend was also single, and the couple hooked them up for double dates.
It wasn’t until high school that Angel and Anna’s relationship began to take a turn for the worse. They were fifteen, and soon after they let hormones get the better of them, Anna revealed she was pregnant. She nearly got disowned, while Angel’s family took a totally different approach, offering the young couple any financial needs as well as support. Although they began having a few fights, it didn’t seem so bad. Angel picked up retail jobs and told Anna to just study hard until the baby came.
When they welcomed Daniel Min Kim into the world, Angel was in the midsts of a full on Meniere’s attack. He tried to hide it, but later he and Anna fought about it.
Graduating high school just brought on more fighting. The couple figured, hoped more so, that moving in together would help their arguing.
However, one moment, one second in time made their reconciliation impossible. Angel had begun getting something called drop attacks, where the vertigo became so severe he’d fall to the floor, and Anna accused him that he was a danger to Daniel. Angel had always been careful and watchful towards his son, so to be accused of such neglect angered him more than ever. At age twenty, the two split off a nearly eleven year relationship. Which of course led to a custody battle, as neither parent could agree as to who should get Daniel.
The courts, however, were on Anna’s side, as Angel failed to mention beforehand about his Meniere’s Disease, as he “didn’t find it important.” Heartbroken, Angel tried to return to the life he had before he was a parent. He moved back home, and became depressed, putting his focus instead on school work.
Daniel had been with Anna for nearly two years when Angel got an opening to getting his son back. He had visited without Anna's knowledge, and one event led to him pulling out his camera, and then… He had evidence Anna had been emotionally abusing the poor child, if not possibly physically abusing him. Angel brought her back to court, and with enough evidence, they agreed Angel should have custody over Daniel. Angel in turn agreed to not press charges against Anna in return for it never happening again. Anna agreed and moved upstate, closer to her extended family.
Originally struggling through community college, Angel eventually graduated and ended up with his current job as a Teacher’s Assistant. Although he’s still struggling slightly, he now lives in a modest one bedroom apartment with his son.

SAMPLE:Angel was still chuckling occasionally even as they sat down. "Forget it? No... Not for as long I live." He promised her with a smirk. He looked over the menu, sighing a bit. Nothing extremely low sodium was on the menu, and he still had to survive a ferris wheel ride after this. If he hadn't been so hungry he would've suggested they'd gone on rides first. He ended up totally distracted in his own thoughts, he barely noticed when the waitress came with their drinks, him sipping on his water as he continued glancing over the menu. He didn't want to be 'that guy' who asked for the nutrition menu, so most of his knowledge was based off memories of luck in the past. Everything looked so good, and he stopped himself from outwardly throwing a tantrum as he saw coconut shrimp was in fact on the menu (though mentally he threw a tantrum he would've scolded his son for even at younger ages). "Do you know what you want?" He asked Trinity, noticing she was also still looking through the menu. At this rate he'd have to go for a salad or something of the like and it was really the last thing he wanted at the moment. But he didn't want to worry Trinity, despite telling her he got sick on roller coasters now, he also told her he'd probably be fine on the ferris wheel.
