JOB OCCUPATION: Musician. He also teaches piano/guitar/singing from his apartment a few afternoons a week.
HAIR: Light brown and always looks like he's been running his fingers through it endlessly. It's part of his “look” - which translates as he's too lazy to really care that much about it.
EYES: Green.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: There are a few. He has a long one on his right wrist from an accident with a window and beer when he was younger. There's another on his left leg from climbing over a fence that collapsed under him. Finally, he has one more on the top of his right hand; a burn from an iron he dropped.

FEARS: fish, banks, forgetting some of the best parts of his life.
SECRETS: He cries every single time he watches Moulin Rouge. It's his favourite and he knows all the songs and words and pretty much the entire plot inside and out. He still cries though. Every single time.
PERSONALITY: Oz is most definitely laid-back. It's pretty much the first thing anyone would notice about him. He very rarely worries or acts quickly. He lives life at his own pace and never let anyone rush him. People can mistake this for laziness or never taking life seriously, but it's not always the truth. Although he does have lazy days, like everyone else. He's musical and his talent is probably his second obvious thing. He performs at bars around the city and teaches younger students in the free time to pay the bills. He's quiet and is much more of a listener than a talker. If he does talk he's usually blunt or cryptic; never an in between. A deep thinker, Oz is very often lost in his thoughts and for years people have called him a dreamer. He's considerate and caring; someone who is always thinking of others before himself. Oz is odd and sometimes people think he's been drinking because he comes out with such bizarre nonsense. He's patient and has very little of a temper, but he will call people out on their bullshit quickly enough. He is the last person who you'll find in a fight outside a bar or club. He's private, not because he has secrets to keep, but simply because he doesn't talk all that much about himself. That same trait often gives off a mysterious vibe.Oz is a calm and relaxed guy who doesn't let stress get to him and tries to keep life simple. He enjoys the chase of a new romance, and while he may not be a conventional “wine and dine” guy, he's undoubtedly a sweetheart who will spoil and love a girl, if she eventually gives him the chance to do so.

HISTORY: Jessica and Richard didn't expect to fall in love with each other, but then that's not exactly how love works. Richard was her father's apprentice in the plumbing business and she only saw him when she called at the office on her way home to make sure that her dad didn't need anything and to check what time he'd be home for dinner. It only happened to be that one wintery afternoon Jessica slipped on some ice outside the office and Richard rushed outside to help her, carrying her indoor before looking at the ankle that was hurting. At that moment she developed a crush on the young man who was “too old” for her in her father's eyes. But to hell with that, and after a few secret dates and some nagging from Jess's mother, he came around and welcomed Richard into the family. A few more years and the loved up couple said their vows in front of a small gathering of friends and family.
After getting a house of their own in their town of Galway, the pair settled down with their jobs. Richard stayed on at his father-in-law's company and Jessica was a secretary for a big firm in the city. They were comfortable and made plans to start a family; something which happened quicker than they expected. All along they had wanted to give their children unique names, but also names that bore nicknames, so if the children liked they could shorten and go by them when they were older. They were lucky they did, because each child grew up answering to nicknames more than their given names! Holden came first, then Oswald, Jocelyn and Cassandra. They were a close and loving family who really had nothing to complain about.
From a very young age, Oswald was always interested in music. He would make instruments out of anything he could find around the house until eventually his parents bought him a kid's guitar one Christmas. It wasn't long before he was asking for real lessons, piano lessons and more. He used to put on concerts for his siblings and his sisters would be his backing dancers since they both took ballet classes. It was only Holden who didn't have an interest in music or the arts. No, his passion laid with sports and more specifically rugby. Each of the kids had their passions and their parents couldn't be more prouder of them.
As they got older, Oswald became Oz and he was mostly recognised as the kid with the guitar case on his back and his hair usually falling into his face until the time came when his mother would force him to get a haircut. At school he didn't have a large group of friends, but he was liked by some and hated by others; it was a typical school experience really. He excelled in music and English classes and struggled elsewhere. He had friends who dreamt of becoming doctors and changing the world, but Oz was only ever interested in music and the chances he had with that. There was no denying his talent, both playing the two instruments he favoured and his singing. As a teenager he won a number of school competitions and local ones. Nothing thrust him into fame although he did turn down an offer when he was sixteen; he knew his parents wanted him to get some kind of education and he figured that he at least ought to stay on with school for a little longer.
His mother occasionally asked him to think of a back up plan, but Oswald would tell her that he didn't need it. He wasn't so much confident, but he just knew that he was making the right choice and that he was on the right path when he chose to pursue music rather than anything else. He had the same teenage experiences as most; first date, first heartbreak, tantrums and breaking the rules, but he always came back to music, no matter what. And his family supported him through that, especially his little sisters after Holden went to Dublin for university. That wasn't an option that appealed to Oz, even when his parents and teachers kept bringing it up. He had no desire to learn anything else, slog it through those years and then come out of it in debt. However, Holden did just that and came out of university with a degree in Sports Science and a fiancé.
Elizabeth never really got on with Oz. At this point Oz was working the afternoon shifts in a restaurant and spending his nights playing in the pubs and bars around Galway. He was getting some good pay from it, but Elizabeth seemed to think of him as some lazy bum who was still living at home simply because he didn't want to have to do things for himself. In reality, Oz lived at home because he had plans to move to America for a few years and staying at home was the best way to save up for such a trip. Holden and Elizabeth wanted the wedding to happen fairly quickly and so the following spring everything was booked and ready. The complications came when Oz noticed that Elizabeth kept slipping off quite a bit. One night he was performing in a pub a little further away from home when he saw her all over another man. At first he thought he might have been mistaken, but when hands started wandering, it became obvious. At first he didn't know what to do. He mentioned it to Jocelyn, but she was just as confused as he was. During Holden's stag night he tried to tell his brother then, but Holden was too drunk to even listen to his little brother. Each time Oz tried to tell him before the wedding they would be interrupted, something would happen or life would just get in the way. He was best man at the wedding and unable to let his brother make a huge mistake he took advantage of the moment when the room was asked for objections. The guy Elizabeth had been cheating on Holden with was even sitting on the bride's side of the small church! Oz will admit now that he could have phrased it a little more decently, but at the time he didn't care; he just wanted to protect his brother. Needless to say, the wedding did not go ahead and the relationship ended too.
Everyone on her side blamed Oz, but he didn't care about that. Holden was devastated, but the family rallied to pick him up again and make everything better as best as they could. After that began to blow over, Oz decided that it was probably time for him to chase his own dreams to America. He had enough money saved up by now and so, at twenty-one, he went through all the necessary procedures and moved to New York City. He had a small apartment quickly enough and soon began chasing all the open mic slots he could find until he had earned enough credibility through word of mouth and the odd $1000 contest to get some permanent residential gigs at some of the bars and clubs in the city. It took time, but he even got offered the chance to do some parties and weddings, which was impressive even in his book. He knew he had to be doing something right. Eventually, when he was twenty-five, he moved into a larger apartment with makeshift studio in the spare room. Out of there, after a bit of research, he even began to teach music lessons to those who were looking for a teacher. His students ranged from kids to adults and Oz was patient with each of them, teaching them all exactly how he had learnt to play and sing. The original move to America had been temporary, but the more Oz stays in New York, the more he starts to consider making a home for himself there.
