FEARS: Never being able to go back to the stage again, burning out, losing his sister or any member of that family
SECRETS: Benji doesn't remember a single thing about his actual parents. He used to tell his sister he remembered whenever it was brought up, but after he'd left their care, he couldn't remember a single thing about them; he just remembered knowing they weren't there. He has absolutely no recollection of what they look like, sounded like, smelt like; there's nothing.
PERSONALITY: Everything about Benji screams actor. He’s energetic, he’s down to earth, he’s humble and he loves a good role. The first three years were insignificant to Benji’s story and he tends to ignore those years, simply because nothing happened with his career. His story starts when he’s four and headed off to his first audition for some cereal commercial. While waiting he was singing along to the radio playing in the background and from there, the rest is history. He’s driven and determined in his goals for his career and his life. Acting is all Benji has ever wanted to do. And though he’s teaching now, he’s still acting every single chance he has. It’s his love, his passion, his life. There have been women scattered through his teenage years and adult life but none had ever made him want to take a step back from the stage to see them; really see them. When that girl comes around, he knows, she’ll be the one but until then, he’s happy as he is with his scripts and his dog. Benji has a bit of a rocky past but he refuses to let that turn him into someone else. If he hadn’t been as strong or had such a caring sister, he probably would have been a burnt out child star by now, flitting between rehab centers and fighting a losing battle with drugs and alcohol. But he had that sister, that small new family to keep him grounded and sane. And for them, he could only ever be grateful for the life they’d given him by taking him away.

HISTORY: What better place to be an actor than New York City? Born and raised, Benji Parker Hamilton seemed to have it all from the outside looking in. But that was hardly the case. Yes, he had two parents, and three other siblings but he had to fight for attention, even as a baby. He was the youngest and should have been given a little more attention but that was hardly the case until he was four years old. By that time, it was obvious he had been bitten by the acting bug. Already he could memorise what he heard on the TV, quoting it back like he'd thought it up all on his own. His memory was impeccable. But his parents saw dollar signs when they looked at him and quickly forgot about the other children in the household to take Benji to acting classes, auditions and open casting calls. He was young though, the youngest of four and didn't know this hadn't been the same for the other three. And he didn't care. At four years old? All he wanted was to act silly and have people laugh at what he was doing. And he couldn't say he minded, even when people asked because even so young he loved to act and it was so blatantly obvious. His parents took advantage for as long as they could, push him into advertisements and guest spots on different television shows. They pushed him towards Broadway, not seeming to mind in the least when he got a part and they had to go out tour for six months before the show was even on Broadway; if it ever got to the famous street.
Benji's siblings resented him at first. He was getting all the attention and they were left basically on their own. But the eldest child, a sister named Clara, saw the truth in what her parents were doing to her baby brother. They were using their son and his love for the dramatic arts as a way to get money without doing anything. Sure, their father worked, but he was a mechanic; not a suit on Wall Street. And their mother had been some sort of receptionist or something; nothing huge or fanciful either. But they'd made due and they'd been happy. Clara had been sixteen when Benji was born. She'd had a part time job her parents hadn't known about because she knew they would have exploited her just as much. Deep down she knew they loved their children but Benji was the one making them cash, and they loved that cash cow even more than the child himself. Clara couldn't stand to watch how they treated her brother any longer but she also wasn't old enough to do anything to stop them, so at seventeen with the baby just a year old, she ran off with her boyfriend. She attended school, a damn good school thanks to her boyfriend's parents, having seen how she'd been treated, they'd happily taken her in and helped her out.
All that time, Clara had kept in contact with her other siblings, they'd been older and could remember her. They'd tell her everything their parents would bring home as a surprise, how much money they'd had and how they moved from the small but cosy apartment to a bigger one, one that could fit them all comfortably without stepping over someone because Benji got a good part in something. Immediately, Clara who went to school to become a child psychologist and Logan who was following proudly in his father's footsteps, with the help of his father, Wentworth James went to work on gathering everything they could as evidence. Clara was taking her baby brother away from those people. The poor kid didn't have a childhood to speak of; not that he minded at all. He was doing what he loved. And all that time between jobs were dull for him, there was nothing to fill them but more classes and sitting at home. A private investigating firm Logan's father's law firm used regularly were hired to follow Morgan and Tiffany around and within six short months, they had enough to go to a judge, who ruled the parents unfit but that ruling had taken nearly six months more. But then, the two other children were already old enough and off away at college thanks to their seven year old brother's childhood stardom. The judge granted Clara and her fiancé Logan full custody of Benji with no visitation at all for his real parents.
Things had been rough at first, Benji not understanding where his parents were. But at seven it was understandable and both Clara and Logan would smile softly and tell the little boy they were having a sleep over. Eventually he stopped asking and they could stop lying to him about it all. They had never intended on taking him away from acting but they made sure it was something he wanted to do and made sure there were other things in his life, like a good and proper education, sports and friends outside of the theatre. He took to a few sports quickly and eagerly though when a part came up that he snagged for himself, they were put on hold. His education though, Clara refused to relent. Her little brother was going to get an education but because of his odd lifestyle, the only obvious choice was a tutor. The director's he worked with agreed and even provided the compensation when he was working with them. And all the money Benji made went into a savings account because they didn't need it, Clara and Logan had both agreed that the money should be put to something of use. If he needed something they could easily and happily provide it. So they set it all aside for college or university; whichever he chose though he would go. It was the one and only thing Clara wouldn't budge on.
When he'd been ten, Clara gave him a little cousin that was more sister than anything else. They were so close in age and they were so close. When they got older there was teasing and playful whining about how Benji didn't have to go to school but Melody did. They had another child a few years later, a son. And when he was born, Melody had been four and Clara told her she had to take good care of her little brother and make sure he didn't get hurt like she did for her little brother. Benji by now knew what had happened in his childhood but could only be grateful that she'd taken him away from it all. It would have only ended badly and at least now Benji had a choice, he had a fighting chance and he had a guardian who cared if he lived or died, went to school or remained clueless when it came to academics. His parents had only cared if he could read the scripts and write his name on the dotted line; even if it was all a formality for him to sign his name. When Benji was sixteen, they got a call that there had been an accident and their mother had been killed in a mugging. They attended the funeral, and it was the first time the entire family had been in the same room since Clara had taken Benji away, but when everything was said and done, the three left and didn't look back. Benji didn't remember much from his childhood when he wasn't on the stage. They were all memories he'd blocked and just down right forgotten because there were of little use for him.
Everything he did revolved around the stage in some way. And when it didn't, it was forgotten for the most part. Time went on and he continued to act, becoming a well-known name to the stage. He took four years off, as promised to attend Julliard, a tough school to get accepted to but had practically begged the young actor to attend. Clara and Logan were thrilled. Benji was grateful for his sister and her husband taking him in and allowing him to stay with them through Julliard but he also knew he was a bit of a burden and when he had graduated from the prestigious school at the top of his class, Benji took some of the small fortune saved to buy himself an apartment. It was long past time he got out of his sister's hair and allowed the family to really be a family; even though her children referred to him as their brother more often than not. And none of them would really have it any other way. He spent a few more years acting on stage with hundreds of people in the audience and knowing the opening of every show he was in, his family, his real family was in the crowd watching with pride at him entertaining the masses.
He had won awards since he was small and it never got boring when he was nominated. He was always grateful and always humbled just to be a name among brilliant people, actors who he was in awe of. And to every award show, he brought his sister along for the fun of it all. And though his heart would always remain on stage, and he would always take small roles here and there, he felt it was time to take a semi sort of break from his home on the stage to gift the next generation when the knowledge of how he got where he was; at least, the technical aspects of it all. He wanted to teach the next group of wannabes how to be humble, how to project their voices; how to properly work with a Shakespeare play. That had been a pet peeve of the actors for as long as he'd been recreating the Baird's work. There were just too many people out there who didn't get it, who forced it out without any passion or understanding. And Benji wanted to take it upon himself to remedy that mess before he got that much worse. Living alone hadn't been what he'd been expecting though since being on the road touring with a show and company meant roommates and a good time almost always so when he found himself home and walking around his house, reading as though he were preparing for another play, musical or audition, he knew he had to do something. And so, he bought himself a dog. Nothing overly ridiculous and definitely nothing tiny, Benji adopted himself a German Shepard, husky cross, named Orsino.
