PERSONALITY: SWEETHEART Adora was raised with so much love from her parents, that she remains a total sweetheart no matter what comes her way. She’s the shoulder to cry on when times are tough and throughout everything, she’ll be there for her friends. She’s not one to fight or argue, but at the same time, she won’t let people push her or her friends around either, though it takes an awful lot to make her snap at someone like that.
FUN LOVING Whilst not a big party girl, Adora still loves to have a good time. The only difference is that she prefers good clean fun, over that of most of the college students. She loves to be active and swimming, shopping and laughing until her sides hurt are all part of how she maintains that wonderful smile of hers. Playing games in the park is way more her style than passing out in a gutter as the stars spin.
MATURE Despite only being eighteen, Adora is wise beyond her years. She understands things far more complicated than most people and her parents always told her the truth, no matter what, which means that today, she acts a lot older than she actually is and can be far more responsible than most of the people she meets and befriends. Sometimes, this means that she can forget to hang loose and just have some fun with her life though and she’s constantly worrying about consequences.
STUDIOUS Adora has always worked hard in school, but whilst it was a necessity at first, now she just enjoys it. Camping out in the library with medical articles is one of her favourite things to do and she aims to ace every test and assignment that comes her way. She’s a hard worker who never slacks off and understands that it will all pay off in the future. Sometimes, she loses track of time though and ends up staying awake all night or missing social events because her nose is in the textbooks.
NAIVE Whilst she may be mature and responsible, Adora has always lived a life away from the pressures of her peers. She doesn’t quite know how she managed it, but she did and drugs, drink and sex were never things that tempted her in high school. She only had her first kiss at junior prom and nothing more intimate since that, which means she’s a total innocent darling and a little fearful of falling in love with a college guy in case he tries to pressure her into something she’s not ready for.
STRONG She’s didn’t have an easy start to life and for the first ten years, things were difficult and people didn’t expect a lot from her, but now that’s changed and Adora is a strong young woman who is ready to prove people wrong when they doubt her. She doesn’t let illness or problems hold her back and she’s the type of person who will keep on going until she is entirely run down and someone shows her that and forces her to understand it.
DREAMER She does spend a lot of time imagining the future, whether it’s romantic, family or career based, her head can sometimes be in the clouds, especially if something good has come her way. She wants the life you read about in novels and whilst she realistically knows that it’ll probably never happen, it doesn’t stop her from dreaming about it. She just hopes that this trait won’t set her up for disappointment in the future!

HISTORY: Caleb and Amanda Constantinou were high school sweethearts whose parents had known each other their whole lives too. Caleb married Amanda when they were fresh out of high school, right when he began work on his family’s orange grove, which he later inherited when his father passed away one winter after a terrible struggle with lung cancer. The newlyweds were eager to start a family of their own once the orange grove was their new home, income source and lifelong business, but they struggled to conceive. Years passed by and Amanda suffered numerous miscarriages that the doctors simply couldn’t explain. They had given up all hope on ever having a baby of their own and began to consider the idea of looking into foster care and adoption, still determined to have someone to inherit the orange grove when their time was over.
Amanda fell dreadfully sick one summer and collapsed in the orange grove as she harvested the fruit alongside her husband. She was taken to hospital and both Caleb and Amanda were shocked to hear the doctor laughing with the nurse as he looked over her chart after tests had been ran on the forty one year old. However, their worry and confusion turned into joy when they found out that the sickness had been due to a change in her body; that change being the baby that was growing inside of her. The doctor explained that she was already fourteen weeks pregnant, but her age, previous experience and the extreme morning sickness, had covered all obvious signs up until now. Amanda was overjoyed though; fourteen weeks had been the longest she’d managed to carry so far and with the instructions of the doctors, she remained hopeful that this would be their chance. Caleb was not so optimistic though and refused to get excited until the baby was actually in his arms this time.
However, at twenty eight weeks, Amanda was rocked away with severe pain in her swollen stomach and was quickly rushed to hospital where doctors were required to perform an emergency C-section, despite protests from Amanda. Adora came out kicking away, but was whisked away to the neonatal unit so that she could be given the correct care and treatment for such an early birth. The nurse told Amanda and Caleb that whilst their daughter was still at risk, there was a strong chance that their 2lb daughter would survive. No one knew what caused her to come so early, but Amanda and Caleb called her their miracle baby, blessing her with the name Adora, which meant ‘beloved gift’. They watched as their daughter received around the clock care, listening as the doctors listed what conditions she could possibly develop that would severely affect her quality of life.
Adora fought on though. She contracted pneumonia four weeks after she was born, which would later be the reason behind her asthma, but she was stronger than Caleb and Amanda imagined and soon, she was breathing by herself for the first time. Soon, her big blue eyes opened and she began piling on the weight as what was supposed to be her due date caught up to her. The doctors warned about long term complications, but Amanda and Caleb were just over the moon about finally having a daughter.
Eventually, they were able to bring her home, to the orange grove and that was where her life truly began. She had check-ups throughout her childhood and had developed a weaker immune system than most people, but with the help of vitamins and her inhaler, Adora was able to live a relatively normal and active childhood. She was always smaller than most of the kids in her class at school and at first, she struggled to grasp what they were learning because of her slower development rate. With Amanda’s help though, Adora soon caught up thanks to extra tutoring and it wasn’t long before she was up there at the top of the class. She still had to put the extra work in at home, but it was fun when she could understand something and there was a sense of pride in herself for overcoming the odds that had been placed against her at birth.
She continued to grow up and the doctors were amazed at how no long term complications had appeared in the small, fiery haired girl. Instead, she was almost as strong and as healthy as the kids she played with and despite her weakened immune system and asthma, she was determined to live a normal life and she did, with more fun and enthusiasm than most kids had.
Amanda and Caleb still called her their miracle baby and at times could be slightly overprotective of their daughter, adding to her naivety in some ways, even though they always told her the truth and explained things to her that she had heard on the news, or on the street.
High school came and Adora continued to excel in her school work, constantly eager for extra assignments or additional reading to further her knowledge. It was obvious that she would show a great interest in medicine and it wasn’t long into her freshman year before she turned to her parents and told them that she intended on being a doctor so that she could help people. She had survived the odds, so she wanted to help others so the same.
The years passed without drama or incident. Her first boyfriend was a sweet guy named Teddy Davis who gave her her first kiss at the junior prom when he walked her home. The pressure of the teen years were non-existent for her and she sailed on through them without any cause for concern, just keeping her head in the books and working hard before hanging out with her friends between the orange trees.
Before anyone knew it, graduation was upon them and Adora was already planning her move from the orange grove she had spent endless summers in (usually covered in the highest factor of sunscreen buyable!) to the never sleeping city of New York, where she would attend college and get her first real taste of independence!

SAMPLE:Wow, it had been a morning and a half for the freshman who was relieved when her classes stopped for a few hours around lunch time. She had spent the morning listening to doctor after doctor drone on about things she had a basic understanding of already. It seemed to take forever, as it always does when you’re a little ahead of the rest of the class, so she had chosen to read some new material in one of the books she had borrowed from the library. It had been quite heavy stuff for so early in the morning and Adora’s head was starting to spin from all the terms and definitions she had been scribbling down in her notebook as fast as her pen would allow her too.
She liked being prepared, even if the material wouldn’t be touched upon for a week or a month. It gave her more of a chance to focus on anything she was struggling with or spend more time researching topics for her papers. She hated feeling stressed and did everything she could to avoid it, even if that meant reading journals on a Friday night whilst the rest of the dorms were out partying with their fake ID’s and short skirts. That was a scene Adora didn’t belong in, nor did she ever want to. She was much too happy with her books and her hot cocoa.
Adora made her way towards the dining hall, her stomach grumbling and agreeing with her choice as she sidestepped a group of tall guys to squeeze through the doors, the smell of food enticing her stomach to grumble even more as she joined the queue of students with plastic trays in their hands. Her blue eyes surveyed the room. Usually, today, she shared her free time with Cole and she kind of hoped that he was already sitting at a table. Adora hated texting him to see what he was up to, it made her sound needy or clingy in her opinion when it really wasn’t the case. Cole just happened to be one of the few students at the university who really understood Addy’s studious ways and so, she liked to spend time with him, knowing that she wouldn’t say something that would make him call her a ‘geek’ or ‘teacher’s pet’…at least not in a serious fashion.
Stepping further up the line, she gave up. The room was too full and she was too short to see everyone and there was no guarantee that he would be here to begin with. She was just hoping for the company for her two hour break. It wasn’t like it was a big deal though; she could reopen the text book she had been studying from that morning and pick up where she had left off…though talking and relaxing did sound so much more appealing right now to her spinning head. She picked the sandwich and healthy dose of three pieces of fruit up and placed them on her tray alongside a vitamin water, before moving to pay for her meal, her purse jingling around her wrist as she stepped away from the serving area to look for somewhere or someone to sit with, sighing softly at the crowded hall.
