DISLIKES: boiled rice, period dramas, feeling stressed, dropping his phone, the smell of gin, smooth peanut butter, orange juice with pulp, finding holes in socks, pessimism, hiccups, batteries dying in anything, video game snobs, boring social events, wearing a tuxedo, constantly angry people, fights, holding a grudge, swallowin pills, alarm clocks, being left waiting, overly greasy food, long car journeys with no breaks, fluroscent lights, Tuesdays, swans, sad and soppy movies.

PERSONALITY: Ralph is the kind of guy you only need to be in the room five minutes with to realise that he’s the typical charismatic sort of guy who could win pretty much anyone over with his charm. He lives to put a smile on other people’s faces and tends to go about making that happen in a goofy kind of way. He’s the guy who will listen to someone rambling on about the unimportant stuff and remember every detail about it. A confidant, Ralph is only ever tested when he has to keep a secret from someone important to him. He can lie, but the guilt rips through him and he hates himself for it. Ralph is in touch with his feelings and he’s proud to admit that. He’s a guy who loves happy endings and wishes he saw more of them in his life! A funny man at the best of times, Ralph certainly does stand out in a crowd, but he doesn’t do it to be the centre of attention. He’s naturally a musical and slightly foolish character. Not everyone appreciates that and he knows that he can act wholly inappropriate at times, but that’s usually because he acts before he really thinks about it. At first glance people may not suspect it, but Ralphie is actually hard-working and clever. He doesn't take that for granted, but people do sometimes think he lacks the ability to be serious, given his light-hearted and daft mood. Some people might say his confidence is more of an arrogance, but Ralph doesn't act this way to hurt or annoy people. He just oozes confidence and thinks that it's the best way to approach everything in life, regardless of what it was. He's not ashamed to apologise when he knows he's in the wrong, but he still feels guilty for ruining anything for anyone. He's not one for confrontation, but he does have a sharp punch if someone crosses a line and hurts the people he cares most about. He likes to see the good in people, sometimes seeing things that aren’t really there just because he’d rather not lose someone he cares about or feel pessimistic about something. He’s a thoughtful man, and he worries more about his friends and their lives than he does about his own. A flirt to the core, Ralph’s not a conventional romantic, but he’s a sweetheart and every date he takes someone out on has thought put into it to make it different and special. He wants the happy ending of his own, someday, but for the time being he’s happy to wait it out and let life take its course.MOTHER: Elissa Valerie Lawrence, 52.

HISTORY: Carlson and Elissa met in a college bar when they were both still finding what they wanted in life. She kept shooting down his every pick up line and he kept trying until she eventually agreed to get coffee with him that following afternoon. From there on out it seemed like they had a pretty good thing going! They broke up during their senior year when some drama with friends, pressure of finals and indecisiveness over everything got in the way, but two years later they bumped into each other in another bar and almost like their very first meeting, it came down to a coffee date and a second chance. That second chance proved to be everything for both of them and after a few years of taking things slow and steady and making sure not to screw the relationship up like they had once before, Elissa came home one evening to find Carlson on bended knee, diamond ring in hand. The wedding followed and they took their time settling into married life before it was Elissa’s turn to surprise Carlson when he came home from work. Dean was the first child born to the couple and two years later came Ralph, with Lucy following three years after that.
Ralph was always the confident one of the close-knit trio. If there was ever anything happening then he was the first to walk in and check it out. He was also keen, curious and asked a ton of questions that often led to his parents shouting at him, in case strangers thought he was being rude or had bad manners. . He was pretty close with his siblings but frequently tormented them during their younger years when it came to toys and games. That changed as they got older, but he was still the wise guy with the joke on the tip of his tongue and the tongue-in-cheek comment whenever high school drama came along.
The idea to become a doctor was not something Ralph considered until he was thirteen years of age. A accident on a dirt bike left him with a concussion and a broken wrist. While his mom was shouting non-stop and worrying constantly about him, Ralph was laughing with the children's doctor who had taken control of his case since his arrival at the hospital. It was nothing too severe, but Ralph liked the appeal of donning the scrubs and helping people, putting smiles back onto faces whenever he could. When he told his parents they reminded him that it wouldn't be an easy challenge. People always expected him to answer the "what do you want to be" question with something crazy, like rockstar. Ralph managed to catch every person off guard when he responded with doctor and then proceeded to continue by talking about how he didn't know what area he would specialise in just yet. There were some reluctant moments during his teenage years when he knew he had to stay home to study for school and dismiss any invites from his friends. Ralph just kept reminding himself that it would pay off, even if his friends weren't so impressed with him for bailing.
During high school, Raplh started coming into himself. The summer between junior and senior year saw him grow, lose the braces and find something that worked for the acne and some kids even struggled to recognise him on the first day of school since he wasn't hiding behind overgrown hair or staring constantly at a handheld gaming advice. It was a little cliche for his liking, but his friends found it hilarious when girls appeared by his locker between classes or approached him during lunchtime. Ralph didn't break hearts, but he also wasn't interested in most of them. His only high school girlfriend was the girl he had been crushing on since his freshman year and who had been friends with him ever since. Their romance was short lived, with the end of high school bringing about changes for everyone and not just them two, but Ralph still took her to prom, treated her like royalty and made her feel special right up until the amicable break up shortly after graduation.
A lot of his friends were attending colleges closer to home, but Ralph saw this as his opportunity to see a bit more of the world and really branch out. His acceptance to NYU sealed the deal, but he deferred for a year when Lucy, his sister, fell ill. Her condition was nothing too serious, highly treatable, but Ralph still didn't want to leave his little sister when she might need him most of all. With Dean living his life as a new engineering graduate down in Florida, Lucy and Ralph re-connected after all those years when the teenage years were dragging them in opposing directions.
Eventually, the time came for Ralph to leave for New York. Lucy visisted when she could during the holidays to see her brother and he couldn't make it home for long. Ralph was committed to his studies and to the student parties! The first three years flew by in a whirlwind of chaos, classes, dates and hangovers. Ralph worked his way from bar staff to Student Union supervisor. A final surprise came in the summer before his senior year; Lucy transferred to NYU to finish up her college education. She's not given him any reason or explanation as to why, but Ralph isn't one to push. If Lucy wants to tell him then she'll tell him in her own time, or at least he hopes she will!YOUR ALIAS: Kim.
