DEVON OLIVIA WALKER
FULL NAME: Devon Olivia Walker.
NICKNAMES: Dev, Goldilocks, Walker
AGE: twenty-three
SEXUALITY: straight.
STATUS: dating.
GROUP: citizen.
GRADE: N/A.
MAJOR: N/A.
JOB OCCUPATION: NYPD officer.
HAIR: blonde, naturally, but like most girls it’s touched up with highlights here and there. It’s long, but styled differently each day depending on her mood/where she’s going. For work, it’s always tied up, so she loves playing with it when it’s down.
EYES: Blue.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: One scar on the inside of her right ankle. She doesn’t know how she got it, but it’s still deep to the touch and darker than the rest of her skin.
TATTOOS: She has a canary tattooed on her right shoulder blade, the words "you have all the weapons you need, now fight!" under her right breast.
PIERCINGS: ears the once and navel.
PLAY-BY: Hayden Panettiere!
LIKES: jogging through Central Park, walking along the harbour, scrapbooking, dancing, lazy days, cucumbers, Miami, marshmallows in her hot chocolate, fresh sheets, clothes straight out of the dryer, sea turtles, being vegetarian, drama movies, Twitter, popcorn, Chinese food, handwritten letters, happy endings, sunflowers, growing her own herbs, superheroes, cocktail cherries, caramel, apples, costume parties, Star Trek.
DISLIKES: cases going cold, winter mornings, her phone battery dying, having to work harder than most for respect, the taste of liquorice, snakes, rainy nights, vodka, drugs, overbearing scents of perfume/cologne, people being too nosey, heartbreak, her phone ringing late at night, the colour sage.
FEARS: Never coming home one day, her brother’s murder remaining unsolved, being paralysed.
SECRETS: Her brother's murder is the reason she put her plans for politics to one side and joined the NYPD instead.
PERSONAILTY: Devon is very ambitious. If she sets her eyes on something then she won’t stop until she has it, which means she can lose herself in the passion that comes with being so driven and forget about other equally as important things around her. She’s a realist and sees the world for both the good and bad sides of everything. She doesn’t see the sense in hiding things and is honest to the core, physically unable to lie without stuttering, stammering and making it blatantly obvious. She’s confident and good at her job but sometimes wishes that people would see her as more than just a pretty face. It’s hard to prove herself in a profession that is still predominantly male based, but she is determined to prove herself to be just as good if not better than her male peers. She can be fun too, but only if it’s harmless. She’s not going to be the girl who gets drunk out of her mind and wake up in a stranger’s bed. If she’s in a night club, she’s there to dance, not to hook up with someone, though it may happen after a tough case. She can be pretty private about parts of her life, especially her past and her brother. It’s hard for her to trust people when she first meets them, but give her a little time and she’ll be as loyal as they come, so long as they don’t backstab her. She’s lawful and has never felt the need to rebel or break the rules. She doesn’t feel like she’s missing out on anything either by being the good girl. She’s unbelievably kind and won’t turn anyone down who needs help, though she’s not a doormat. You try to take advantage of her and she will tell you straight how she feels about that and make it clear not to try it again!

HISTORY: Devon was the second child and the first daughter born into the Walker household. She was a happy child, always playing out with her brother Frankie who she was close to ever since they were little kids and he was pulling on her golden pigtails.
In school, Devon was the kind of girl who was easily liked. Frankie warned those who weren’t nice to her and she was able to look after those around her. She kind of enjoyed school and learning new things and then telling her parents who would nod and smile, despite obviously already knowing what she was reciting. She made good grades and one day dreamt of being in the Whitehouse, though that was a far-flung childhood dream that would take more than her natural talents to fulfil. Nevertheless, she wanted to make a difference in the world and politics was her calling from a young age and she’d follow elections around the country seriously, always asking her dad what things meant when she couldn’t understand them.
When she started high school, those dreams were what she was aiming for, and she aimed to keep her high grades. Frankie was still pretty much her best friend and she became the little sister who his friends were eager to ‘get to know’ but who was totally untouchable, if they didn’t want the older Walker to kill them, or something along those lines of brotherly threats. Frankie was on the basketball team and it wasn’t long before Devon found herself a place on the cheerleading squad. She had wanted to do something to support her school, but lacked the talent for most sports, but cheerleading seemed to come naturally to her. Frankie hated the idea, but Devon promised not to become one of those girls who flirted with the jocks and who used her position to get what she wanted.
That never happened, much to her brother’s relief. She studied hard, cheered well and whilst she did go on dates, she remained very much the innocent and carefree girl everyone knew and loved. She took on other extracurricular activities too, such as yearbook committee, prom committee and anything else that cropped up that wouldn’t interfere with her schedule.
Still focusing on her dream, Devon was overjoyed when she was accepted into Stanford to study the political science course she had applied for. Eagerly, she left the nest, prepared for the next part of her life. Freshman year and sophomore year passed with their fair share of stress and fun and Devon met a great guy on her course who she eventually began dating. Nathan was from Washington and a very respectable guy who never put pressure on Devon for anything, but waited patiently until she was ready to come to him. They had a great relationship, shared similar dreams and Devon really couldn’t ask for more as her junior year spun around with more promise than anyone could fathom for the young woman.
One night in February, Devon was asleep with Nathan, when the phone woke her up. She thought nothing of it, expecting it to be a drunken friend needing a ride, but instead she got the wails of her hysterical mother. Frankie was dead. He had been shot on his way home, but his wallet and personal belongings remained on his body. It had been murder of a personal nature, but no one would come forward as witness, despite it being a supposedly busy street, just minutes from one of the bars where he drank regularly with his friends. There was hardly any evidence and eventually the case went cold. Devon’s mother was bereft and quit her job, her father unable to look at anything of his son again. Stephanie, her younger sister, was confused, hurt and couldn’t understand why someone would kill Frankie. It made no sense to Devon either and after she returned to college, it played on her mind, over and over.
Suddenly, she realised that this wasn’t her calling. Becoming a politician wouldn’t help anyone like she dreamt of doing. Her relationship with Nathan grew strained and she threw herself into trying to figure out what she needed to do with her life. She remained on her course at Stanford until graduation, seeing no point in throwing an education away when it would still grant her amazing opportunities.
Back in New York, she enrolled at the Police Academy, much to the shock and horror of those who loved her. No one expected her to do something like this, especially after four years at Stanford and they tried and pleaded to talk her out of it, but this was her stand.
She wanted to become a detective, one day solve the murder of her brother and bring peace to the families like her own. She wanted to become more than just words and promises to a city, she wanted to personally help others and protect the likes of her sister from those who could hurt them.
Devon ended her three year relationship with Nathan, deeming it unfair to stay with him when he worried so much about her when she got her job as officer for the twelfth. He panicked constantly and would phone her the second her shift was over to check on her. Devon couldn’t put him through this daily for the rest of his life and it was the only way forward for both of them, but to this day, it still breaks her heart thinking about it, especially when he had made her so happy. She needed to do this though, for herself and for Frankie.
A year later and she’s preparing to train for detective and hopes to have that coveted badge in her hand before the year is out so that she can be one step closer to her dream.
