SECRETS: Tripp's father died whilst serving his country. He doesn't talk about it because he doesn't want those pitying looks he used to get about how he was raised without a father. He'd had a good childhood and when people ask, he just says he died and doesn't elaborate on it.
PERSONALITY: Tripp is quite the conundrum for most people. He's young, keeps fit and is quite the smarty-pants. He adores kids, loves how the littlest ones react with the world. They come up with the craziest things and he really loves it when they chatter on animatedly to him. Whereas most adults would find all of that irritating, Tripp loves it. He enjoys baking and jogging through the park with the little ones in a stroller. But he's no father. He's a proud Manny and loves it all. That is by no means all he is but it's the majority of it. He enjoys hitting the club and hanging out with his friends, likes to think he's funny and sometimes he is, sometimes his jokes only hit with the kids he manny's. He's still young so he's not actively looking for love but he'd like to think he has a romantic side that would come out if there was a woman in his life. For now, he's happy to hang out with the twins and study his ass off for that English Lit degree he's chasing.

HISTORY: He'd been raised by a single mum who couldn't always be around at night because she worked a lot. They were lucky in that they could live comfortably on one job and her boss kept loose hours. She was able to start later so she could have breakfast with Tripp and see him off to school but unless she got all her work done before dinner, he was left in the care of his aunt who fed him and told him stories of his hero father, though as he got older, he was told stories about how much of a fool the man was, too; just so there wasn't that god-like level of hero worship. He'd gone off to fight battles that weren't his but felt like they were. Auntie Maeve could understand that, hell she'd joined up right along with him. But a roadside bomb took out her truck and left her with a missing foot long before Tripp had been two so he didn't understand and it didn't freak him out like it probably did some kids. She was just Auntie Maeve who could take her foot off. Honestly, Tripp found it pretty cool. His father hadn't been so lucky. They hadn't been stationed together, they weren't even in the same country as far as anyone was allowed to know but as Tripp got older, the stories got a little more detailed and he figured out easily enough that they'd at least been stationed on the same base, though not together.
All in all, it meant that he'd had a well-rounded upbringing with strong women in his life. And he saw first hand how people felt about the troops. Some people would tell him his father was a great man and he could agree with that while others told him he shouldn't have been over there fighting a war that wasn't his to fight and he could agree with them, too. Tripp didn't think the military was for him. In fact, he knew it wasn't. He was too soft for it. But no one in his family expected him to walk in their shoes. Sure, they would have been proud but Sophie knew her son was his own person and raised him as such. He had his own mind, his own ideas and his own thoughts on what he wanted to be when he grew up. She let him have them. For the most part, growing up was easy in Charleston, South Carolina. There was lots to do, plenty of places to hang out with friends and he enjoyed his life there but he did get that itch to travel. He wanted to see the world and write stories about the places he travelled. When his acceptance for NYU came through, they were all overjoyed and ecstatic and terrified.
Tripp hadn't meant to become a Manny. In fact, it was supposed to be a summer job that stuck around after school started up again. It was surprisingly easy to be the twin's Manny. He was good with them, kept them occupied and had them trusting him; something their previous carers had struggled with. Terry and Wendell practically begged him to stay on after the summer. The twins were in school during the day so it was simple enough to drop them off on the way to his own classes and then pick them up afterwards. He'd gotten lucky that his classes were all within the same hours as the twin's. Though he was aware that their parents would have done whatever they could to make sure he stuck around. He was a live-in sitter, taking up residence in the small but quite cosy granny flat at the back of the garden so he would have his privacy while also being close in case he was needed at a moment's notice. They lived a rather opulent lifestyle but they cared for their children. Tripp didn't need to be up in the mornings to get their breakfast because they enjoyed a family meal. Dinners weren't always possible but breakfast was. So most nights of the week, he was with them during dinner and a couple nights a week, he put them to bed with a story. It really wasn't much but his mum and aunt had decided to do a road trip for that first summer so he would have been home alone and opted instead to stick around the city. He'd answered an ad on the board in the commons and after the interview, he'd been the only one that seemed to engage with the boys. He didn't know how he managed to get the job but he did and he loved it. That first summer they spent a month in Italy and he took the boys everywhere with him unless his parents wanted to spend the day with them which actually happened quite often. He really had at least half the trip to himself to explore. It had been marvelous and he'd managed to keep up with his family and vice versa.
Tripp started to think that maybe he should look into switching up his degree so he could be an au pair properly. For now, he really wanted the English Literature degree he was chasing and as far as the family was concerned, he was more than welcome to stick around until the boys were too old for a carer, which was quite a few more off so he had options. He was already starting the process with extra courses for nutrition and he'd already taken a weekend course that allowed him to basically be a homeschool teacher. He wanted to cover all the bases, just in case when he finally moved on, he needed to have all the credentials anyone might ask him to have. For now, he's just enjoying his life.
