PERSONALITY: Beau is definitely creative. He’s an artist in many ways, though writing is his ultimate passion. He’s friendly and outgoing, but Beau is very much a nerd. He loves his games, his books and his movies, so a lot of the time he prefers a night in with good company over a nightclub – but he’s not opposed to them. He enjoys deep conversations and getting to know someone. He’s typically a happy sort of guy who doesn’t let the stresses of life drag him down. Beau is enthusiastic and supportive to the people in his life. He gets enjoyment from his friend’s enjoyment. Beau isn’t a fighter per se, but he will easily put someone in their place if he thinks they deserve it. He’s called players out in his own games who are less than friendly, he’ll tell a guy at a bar to leave a girl alone. Most of the time, Beau’s words are enough, but if it does turn physical he can hold his own. Beau is confident, and typically he comes across as pretty shameless; he’s comfortable with who he is and what he likes, regardless of anyone who may laugh or dismiss him. He’s been a little unlucky in love, sometimes because girls mistake his nerdiness for immaturity, or because the spark faded from a relationship. In matters of the heart Beau can be sweet and thoughtful since he’s a pretty selfless guy who works on making other people happy before himself. He can be flirtatious, but only when he’s into someone. He’s not the type to flirt and have a dance on a night out. In his mind it’s always some kind of lead on – and he doesn’t like that. He’s honest, even when people don’t want to hear the truth, but Beau thinks it’s the only way to build a lifelong relationship.MOTHER: Mila Olivia Autry, 60.

HISTORY: Louis had been married once before when he met Mila. She was a new admin assistant at the university department where he was finishing up a research paper. He liked her from afar at first, learning through a gossip loving intern that she had moved from Brussels after the death of her mother, whom she had cared for during the last few years. Louis eventually approached her, asking her for coffee when one day someone “coincidentally” forgot to order for the two of them. Coffee turned into a date, turned into a relationship. Louis told Mila that he had been married before, but that he had been too young and his wife had grown too bored when she saw her friends going out and having fun and she was sitting at home listening to people ask when they were going to start a family. That one was on Louis. He didn’t want to have children until he could provide for them with a stable job. He had wanted to get through school, get a PhD, and ensure his kids had everything his family had never been able to give him. He knew the embarrassment of going to school in hand-me-down clothes two sizes too big.
Louis and Mila married a few years later, once his paper was published and he was being invited – and paid – to present it at various research institutes and colleges across the globe. It was two more years before Mila announced that she was pregnant. A normal visit to the hospital revealed that she was carrying twins. Beau and his sister Lea were born in the height of summer, Beau coming first by fifteen minutes. The twins were always very close; there’s a whole series of photo albums of them enjoy each other’s company throughout the years. Of course there were moments when they hated each other for some reason or another, but typically they moved on and forgot about it before the weekend, which was usually spent at the beach.
When Beau was eight, his father told them that they would be moving to America. He had been offered a position at UCLA as a Chemistry Professor and it was an offer he’d be foolish to pass up on. Beau was excited to move to California, but he was also scared. His English was minimal, although his mother hired a tutor to get him and Lea up to speed and fluent enough to enrol in school as soon as the summer ended. It took a little while to get settled in California, but Beau and Lea had each other when the kids were looking at them and whispering. Within a few weeks though, they had started making friends, and living close to the beach reminded them a little of home. In the years to follow, most of their free time was spent at the beach with their friends, learning to surf, having BBQs, and living their best lives.
Beau and Lea were never spoilt, they earned whatever they wanted through chores and little odd jobs around the neighbourhood. The money was there, but Mila and Louis made sure they knew that there was an extra satisfaction from working for something. Beau almost always wanted money for games or art supplies. He was a creative guy, be it with a sketchpad or creating an entire life for his favourite DnD character. He could wear his jeans until they were falling apart, or his shoes until they had holes in them. He only ever wanted to create, to give life to something seeded in his imagination. Honestly, nothing made him happier. He wasn’t even interested in dating if they had a DnD night on the table.
Beau went to college for Game development, but he also minored in Creative Writing. It was a chance to enjoy both of his passions and also build the foundation for the career of his dreams. Ultimately, the art was something he preferred to do in his free time, since his style and likes fluxuated. Writing, however, was the job for him. He ended up interning on a Game Development team, bringing coffee to the writers and learning from them. When one of them left for a different job, Beau jumped at the chance to fill his boots. He impressed during the interview and always had a clear vision of the story he was part of. His background in Game Design also meant he could have detailed conversations with the artists and developers when they hit a bump and were trying to figure out how something on paper was going to come to life on the screen.
The years went by, and Beau ended up in New York with a different gaming company. This one went for bigger and better games and he was right at home there. He dated, fell out of love, and made friends that indulged his creative side. They had art retreats, shared games nights (both console and board) and they made him feel like he was a teenager again at the end of a long week. He’s seen his sister get married, and now is along for the ride as she talks babies and houses in the suburbs. It’s not for him, at least not yet, but they say it’s all about finding the right pers
