Drusilla was incredibly smart. It was the one thing all of her former teachers had agreed upon. They had also all followed that up with some reference to how she was troublesome. She begged to differ, but apparently arguing with teachers was only ever going to land her in detention. She was even smarter now, with contingency plans in place for whenever anyone of authority got a little too close to her trade. On the outside she simply tutored other students in chemistry, but in reality, they were probably part of her little fake ID scam. Dru did actually help out some kids who were struggling, mostly so she could at least point to them if anyone ever had their suspicions. The old prohibition tunnels she had found were also insanely useful in being in a place different to where she said she was. Dru acted sometimes like it was a huge criminal enterprise, but honestly, she just didn’t want her parents to find out. They were already disappointed in her, and while Dru said she didn’t care about that, she didn’t want to see them collecting her from a police station again.
This time it hadn’t been a huge crisis, but she was being pointed to for some things going missing from a former friend’s apartment. For once Dru was totally innocent, but she couldn’t give up her actual alibi, which was that she had been spending the evening getting new orders for out of state driving licences as forms of ID. Instead she had gone for the easiest and oldest excuse. She claimed to have spent the evening with her boyfriend…and then gave them the number and work location of the only person who had recently been anything close to a boyfriend. Which was both convenient and a little sad. Dru didn’t exactly scream romantic and the type to fall in love at first sight. She was usually glaring at someone or chasing someone away because they didn’t know how to be subtle or secretive. Dru had hoped that Eli would remember the ploy she had dragged him into a few weeks ago, and that he’d make a half-decent liar. She was going to the gallery herself to check in and see if anyone had come snooping. She’d rather them snoop there than go through her own things.
She made her way up the long street where Eli had left her last time. Dru had a pretty good knack for knowing the city. She pushed her way through group of businessmen smoking outside a wine bar and came to the gallery. She didn’t know if anyone would have been to speak to him already, but she needed to know what was happening. It was annoying the hell out of her that the one time she hadn’t done anything, she was being pointed at as the perpetrator. Knowing her old friend she had probably left her door open, or had some guy over whose name she never knew. The NYPD wasn’t about to chase down mysterious men from a club if they had nothing to go on, and for some reason telling someone they had been stupid was just frowned upon. She found Eli inside, after walking by and ignoring some kind of brightly spattered canvases. “Well? Did anyone come asking inconvenient questions?” Dru was never the type to dance around the point with idle chitchat or unnecessary small talk.
