ROSIE KATHLEEN WRIGHT
FULL NAME: Rosie Kathleen Wright
NICKNAMES: Little Wright, Roadie Rosie (though that one usually gets a middle finger salute in return)
AGE: twenty-four
GENDER: female
SEXUALITY: Straight
STATUS: Single
GROUP: Citizen
GRADE: N/A.
MAJOR: N/A.
JOB OCCUPATION: Sound Tech.HAIR: Long, dark brown hair. She usually keeps it up in whatever mess it settles into for work.
EYES: Blue.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Her fair share, she's fallen a lot on the job but has always laughed it off. (except that one time she actually broke her arm.... Sorry dad!)
TATTOOS: Plenty she's working on, none actually inked onto her body yet.
PIERCINGS: Her ears just the once.
PLAY-BY: India Eisley!LIKES: abseiling, rock climbing, hanging upside down from the rafters, collecting postcards, coming home to her parents, being on the road, iced coffee, listening to the radio, exploring the cities she visits, taking pictures, tattoos, banter, giving out wild fake names at Starbucks, getting lost in new places
DISLIKES: cold tea, black coffee, getting sick, having to miss a show, horror movies, thriller novels, rodents, white chocolate, giving her real name at Starbucks (it was a game and now she just feels off when they call out Rosie), feeling like she's being left out (plays on her childhood insecurities in a bad way), licorice, having to go shopping for herself (Elise or someone on tour usually drags her out to get new clothes, otherwise she usually grabs a tee from merch when she needs something), having to wear makeup
FEARS: Disappointing her parents, having an accident on the road, snakes
SECRETS: Only those who know, know but Rosie had been dropped at a fire station when she'd been less than a day old. Her biological parents are completely unknown, no one ever bothered to try and find her and Rosie feels nothing for them. She didn't know why her mother dropped her off but she's actually pleased they did so. Without that, she wouldn't be able to call Ronnie and Elise mom and dad.
PERSONALITY: Rosie will be the first person to admit that she's built up a wall around her heart. She isn't as guarded as she once was but it's till there around new people, at least until she can figure out how she feels about them. She's a bit of a wild one, more than happy and willing to climb whatever rigging to get the job done. There are jokes around that she's a bit of a monkey and definitely fearless. After her rough childhood however, a little bit of height is nothing worth crying over. Finally after so many years she feels really, truly loved but much like many with her childhood, her insecurities play a role in her life and whenever it feels like someone is keeping something from her, it hurts her more than most; even if it's unintentional, she feels it deep. She's trying hard to get over that hurdle but it's taking time to jump it. She'll get there. She's strong, so brave and the most resilient person because she's had to be on the tougher side. She does have that gooey center, though it usually takes a while to show. People who have known her for ages, know all about her little weaknesses and she loves them for it.MOTHER: Elise Wright & sixty-five.
FATHER: Ronnie Wright & sixty-seven.
SIBLINGS: N/A
OTHERS: There's just way too many to name
PETS: Nanette & Corgi (family pet, not exactly hers!)
HOMETOWN: Memphis, Tennessee.
HISTORY: Rosie learnt about her job on the job. She'd had a bit of a rough start to life and at sixteen, packed a bag and disappeared into the night. No one had bothered to look for her, she was just another kid lost in the system. She managed to sneak backstage before a concert when the crew was all setting up and was yelled at for not doing her job. There were so many people running around just trying to get their job done because they'd gotten into Memphis late and at that point, they didn't give a damn; if you had free hands, you were put to work. So she shoved her bags in a corner and got to work. It was the first time in so many years that she felt like she was part of something. Of course, it didn't last long before someone finally realised she wasn't meant to be there and she was dragged to security and the road manager. He was an older gentleman that actually reminded Rosie of Kris Kristofferson with his height, smile and overall appearance and Willie Nelson with his road weariness; like he'd lived the road life a very long time but was also nowhere near ready to give it up. He took Rosie aside, picked up a plate from the buffet that had been set up and filled it with various foods, all whilst keeping quiet. Rosie, fearing the worst, also kept quiet and kept close, her eyes darting every once and a while to the security guards posted not to far away from her. A few minutes passed and once the plate was sufficiently filled, he turned and sat at a table, motioning for Rosie to sit across from him. Obviously she did so and was expecting him to sit there and eat his food, torment her for whatever reason, keeping her there until the cops showed up or whatever but he pushed the plate across the bistro table and motioned again for her to eat.
She dug in and he started a story about a young man back in the day who'd stumbled across a road crew, packing up from a show the night before. Now, this boy had walked up to several people who just told him that if he had hands, they should be full and then directed him to do several jobs. No one cared that he'd just walked up until the end, when the job was done. Now, he noted, the difference between this man and her was that he'd been intending to find the road manager and ask for a job where she'd just been trying to hide away. Finally, she spoke up. She explained that she hadn't intentionally gotten into this mess, that she'd been trying to get away from a creepy looking guy and she could fit in the hole in the fence while he hadn't been able to. She'd planned on just hiding away for a little bit of time and then leave again. She'd had no intentions of helping out but someone had said if she had empty hands, she wasn't doing her job and oddly, she hadn't wanted to disappoint the complete stranger. She only continued because she'd finally felt like she was part of something and that it had felt nice to have someone except something from her.
Ronnie, the road manager she'd been talking to, had felt a kinship with the young girl after her rebuttal, so he'd asked her about her home life and her answers about that solidified in his mind what he was going to do. She had all the necessary documentation for getting a job so he offered her one. She was told the rules of the road and then she was showed where she would be staying, which bunk she could claim in the bus and who she would be rooming with whenever they got a hotel room. The woman was much older but no less kind than Ronnie had been to her. She was part of the lighting team and taught Rosie everything she knew about life on the road. She had a family that she returned to whenever she got the chance but there were a few that just stayed on the road or were a little more lenient about where they went and when they went. Six months into the job, it was announced to the crew that the group they were touring with was going to do a European leg in the fall. It was so they could have enough time to sort out their passports and get their things in order to spend three months running from one end of the continent to the other with a few days here and there to explore.
She'd never had a passport before. Hell, she'd never really had anything that was truly hers before she found herself in this new life. She started collecting postcards from each of their stops to decorate her small bunk space even opened a bank account with Ronnie's help so she could have her money deposited automatically and she didn't have to find a bank on each payday. It made life much easier for Rosie who'd not know anything really about life at all. Because she didn't have a real address, Ronnie offered up his and had his life express mail Rosie's passport to the next stop whenever it came in. She was also invited to stay there when touring finally ended and wouldn't start up again for a few weeks. She was so young, still not yet seventeen and felt like she found a home with Ronnie and his wife. Elise hadn't been able to have children and having Rosie around gave her a bit of a jump to her step. She felt revived and Rosie had adored the woman the second she'd met her. It was a huge surprise when they asked if they could adopt her. She was still two months away from her seventeen birthday, had been barely two full days past her sixteenth birthday when she'd met Ronnie. She'd of course, said yes but she had asked that they not demand she return to school. She felt like she was too far behind and didn't want to deal with the frustrations of that. They agreed to instead hire a tutor so she could still go out on tour and get her high school diploma. That had been easy to agree to because she did want her education, she just didn't feel like she could sit in a classroom like that for that amount of time; not anymore.
The next tour saw her with a couple hours a day sitting with a tutor, learning all that she didn't know; enough to write the exams and get good grades. She wasn't a stupid girl, she was quite brilliant but like most people who opted out of school early, she just couldn't concentrate in school like settings. Whilst doing all of this, she had also taken an interest in the work the sound team was doing and asked if she could help out whenever possible. She enjoyed every aspect of that job and Marty showed her the ropes of it all, keeping her around whenever they were setting up and tearing down the set up so she could learn. Eventually, Marty sat back one day and demanded she do it herself. He wanted to see just how much she'd learned from him and as it turned out, her brain was like a sponge. She soaked it all up and knew exactly what needed to be done and it what order. She caught snag once and there was no one around to help her with it so she hooked up and climbed up the rigging herself and fixed it herself. It gave Ronnie a heart attack to see her hanging upside down so high up but he'd also been quite proud of her. From then on, she was part of the sound team.
A couple more years rolled around and Elise asked Rosie about college. She wanted Rosie to have a proper education but also understood that she probably wouldn't be able to settle into a normal school setting, even one as chaotic as university. Rosie promised she would try one term and if she couldn't do it, she would look into online schooling. It was good enough for Elise so she helped Rosie look into schools that had a good programme suitable for Rosie. There hadn't been one exactly for Rosie's interest but together, they found one that couldn't hurt. There was no guarantee that she would get accepted but she still went through the process and was pleasantly surprised when she was accepted to the programme. It was an accelerated programme so instead of spending four years sitting around with random long breaks, it was straight courses for two years. At the end of the first term, she sat down with Elise and Ronnie and admitted that she could probably handle it, the coursework wasn't that bad, she knew everything from experience anyway and the entire last term was a co-operative sort of deal, meaning she could go on tour with Ronnie and get credits for it. Two years later, she walked across the stage with the family she'd created on that fateful day when she'd been sixteen years old in the crowd. She saw just about everyone from the road crew out in the crowd along with the beautiful couple she was so happy to call mom and dad; something she just started doing one day and no one said anything because it had just felt right.
She returned to the road with Ronnie and everyone else except now she was paid just that much more and was instead Marty's right hand woman as opposed to a bit of a grunt, doing whatever job needed doing. A couple more years and Ronnie confessed he was getting tired of being on the road so much. He was missing his wife more and more and decided after tour, he would be retiring. Elise was retiring at the end of the year, having spent her life teaching the young minds of the next generations how English Literature actually works. So it seemed fitting that they retire together and see what the world looked like when they weren't looking out of tour bus windows. Rosie was welcomed to stay on, which she did but the band eventually decided to go on hiatus, spend a bit more time in the studio and with their families and a little less time not knowing which city they were in when they woke up. So at the end of that final tour, Rosie returned to New York, to Ronnie and Elise and started looking into where she could go next. She liked being in one place but they all knew that Rosie had a bit of a wandering soul and needed to be on the road. For the time being, however, she was enjoying her time off, spending it with her parents or just taking care of their houseplants whenever they decide to travel on a whim.
