SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Do papercuts count?.

PIERCINGS: Industrial right ear, both lobes.
PLAY-BY: Emily Bett RickardsLIKES: Fresh Coffee, salmon fishcakes, autumn, waffles with strawberry sauce and whipped cream, Ma and Pa bookshops, her family, Judge Judy (Her brother's fault), hockey, cookie dough ice cream, faux fur rugs, curling up in her reading nook, gripping books, scented candles, singing in the shower, Buffalo plaid, flannel, a good cup of tea, double chocolate brownies, samosas, hiding indoors on rainy days, beach bonfires, thick chocolate milkshakes, jalapeno poppers, cracking bad jokes in awkward situations (when she feels awkward anyway)
DISLIKES: most seafood, franchised bookstores, laundry, leaving the house without something to read, black coffee, having to delay publishing dates (her brother had ranted enough times), having to give tons of feedback, poor writing, bad endings, cliff-hangers (those just have no place in the world of literature), warm beer, red wine, olives
FEARS: Anything at all happening to her family, falling off a treadmill (she never uses them so falling off one is highly unlikely), getting into an accident and her brother being one of the paramedics. (She really doesn't want him having to deal with that. Shrinks cost a fortune)
SECRETS: Niamh secretly dated her brother's college roommate for a year. Her weekly visits to "check out the campus" had absolutely nothing to do with seeing if she wanted to go to school there or hanging out with her brother and everything to do with seeing his roommate. They only broke up because he decided to do a year abroad and Niamh wasn't interested in waiting around for him to come back with some French girl on his arm.
PERSONALITY: Much like her brother, Niamh is a big bookworm loving to read almost anything she can get her hands on. She went through Jane Austen's entire collection by the time she was twelve and understood it, she loved Mary Shelley and couldn't get enough of the sick and twisted mind of Stephen King. Creative though hardly with words, especially when she thinks about what she's going to say, Niamh spent a fair bit of time off on adventures with swashbuckling pirates and treasure hunting kids, with the vampires and werewolves on the pages of her books. She wasn't socially inept, she had a considerable amount of friends. She had always been one of those people who could flit from group to group and chat with them all easily. Her brother used to tease her about being such a social butterfly and in truth, nothing about her has changed all that much from high school. She's still the same brilliant, but smart-mouthed girl she'd always been. She's quick with a comeback, often times not even registering the fact that she'd said anything until after it had already come out of her mouth. She likes being cheeky and adventurous. She might not go bungee jumping but she'll be the first to hit the tallest, fastest, scariest roller coaster in the park. No doubt a surprise, but Niamh doesn't have the rose coloured glasses on her nose when it comes to love and romance that most readers fancy. She loves her fantasy worlds but her feet are also firmly planted in the real world and expects a little more than a wink, a smile and cheap pick-up line or a drink. She is, however, prone to cracking terribly bad jokes at the worst, most awkward times because she's uncomfortable. She's always done it, she has no idea why and paying for a shrink to analyze it costs too much money, though she could afford it. Better to drink some white wine and bitch to friends about how she's done it again.MOTHER: Miranda Lillian Wise & fifty eight.
FATHER: Thomas William Wise & sixty two.
SIBLINGS: Lorcan Thomas Wise & twenty eight.
OTHERS: N/A.
PETS: Melanoid Axolotl named Shadow!

HISTORY: Miranda and Thomas had a love that stories were written about. When they fought, they did so as passionately as they loved each other. As Niamh was growing up, she had wanted something as special as her parents had. She wanted her soulmate just as her parents had theirs in one another. They took their time to see that, however, but when they were married, in a spring ceremony, they knew it was a forever kind of thing. It took them longer to start a family. It was important to them that they found the right house and fixed it up to become their dream home. They wanted that stability before they started talking about children. Everything seemed to move quickly for them after this. First, Miranda found she was pregnant and then in a blink, she was holding her sweet baby boy that they'd named Lorcan, a family name from Miranda's side. He was such an incredibly well behaved baby that Miranda and Thomas felt like it was time to expand their family once more. Bright and early in the morning, Niamh came into the world screaming. Niamh was another family name that was a bit odd and very unique and Margaret was chosen for Thomas's mother. There was never a time that Niamh could remember where her big brother wasn't there, helping her.
Growing up, Lorcan never seemed too far away and Niamh both appreciated and was frustrated by it. He made sure to tell people he was her big brother, as though if they hurt her, he would bring them pain. As a small child, she'd been a bit destructive but it hadn't seemed to bother her big brother much when she broke his toys but of course, she has no real recollections of doing these things; just his word and stories that she'd broken his things. Niamh didn't remember too many fights between their parents but she did have fond memories of hiding away with Lorcan playing games, listening to music or books on tape, reading stories and creating imaginary worlds. Niamh credits Lorcan for her love of books and reading, for the worlds of make believe that they'd created as small children. Niamh was curious about everything and whenever she had a question, she would find the answer to it, much as her brother did. If she were eve honest, she would probably admit that she copied some of his mannerisms because he had always been brilliant to her and what little girl who was doted on by her big brother didn't hero-worship him a little bit in return?
Despite having gone through school most of her life with Lorcan, Niamh managed to have her own circle of close friends and still be able to hang out with the big kids whenever she wanted to spend some time with her brother. Looking back, she's positive that irritated his friends but not once did he ever make her feel like she was unwanted. As they got older, at some point, she stopped being Lorcan's irritating little sister and became Niamh, Lorcan's hot little sister. She would never tell her brother that some of his friends would flirt with her, ask her out and occasionally try to kiss her because she had seemed them her entire life as her brother's friends and a little idiotic to be honest. She wasn't interested in his friends until he'd gone off to university. Her two years of high school with her brother were uneventful. She kept up her grades, had a small part-time job at a local café and kept fairly busy with extracurricular activities to fill out her college applications. She wasn't brilliant, she was absolutely no math star or science nerd but she could string words together very poetically. She did, however, spend as many weekends as she could in New York with her brother over those two years without him nearby. Firstly, it was to check out the campus and see if it was a place she wanted to go when she graduated and then it became less about checking out the campus and more about his roommate. They began a relationship that continued on when Niamh did move to New York to attend NYU; at least for that first year. They kept up their secret relationship without anyone knowing up to the day Chris told her he was leaving for Paris for an exchange programme for his entire senior year. They spent a couple more weeks together but agreed that Chris should go to Paris a single man. They were both young and Niamh didn't want to be sitting around New York waiting for a man who if he returned at all, might return with a woman on his arm. She was not going to be the Rachel to his Ross, that much was for damn sure.
Life moved on and Niamh wasn't too upset. She had loved him dearly but it became obvious that she wasn't in love with Chris so it was pretty easy to let him go. Niamh continued on class, continued to have a life and made sure to keep her brother in the dark to the relationship she'd had with his friend. He had threatened all the boy's in her life from the time they started looking her way so she didn't want their friendship to suffer because they'd been seeing each other. She made new friends, dated a bit but she chose to keep it fun and not go looking for anything serious. Niamh kept that up for her final two years at university. She graduated with a few job offers and options that she took her time checking out and deciding on. They had given her the time to do so, which was probably unusual but nice all the same. Eventually, she made her choice and inked her name on the contract to the publishing house of her dreams. She had wanted to make the best decision for her long term, and it turned out her dream job was exactly that. She worked her way up, first as an assistant, then pushing her editor to publish a book here and there, giving excellent reasons for why they were needed in the world. Eventually, she moved up from an assistant to a junior editor to an editor in her own right. She didn't have a particularly favourite genre exactly, she tried to read them all but she did find herself reading more young adult/new adult fiction, especially those books based in fantasy worlds. Eventually, this was her niche though she was obviously allowed to read whichever book that came across hers or her assistant's desk.
