His other arm boast another half sleeve with a view of a street that he has never disclosed to anyone and a quote from Shakespeare's The Tempest in Swedish "By the same fabric dreams are woven by, we are made, and our brief lives are embraced by a dream" though he has the last dream stricken out and replaced with "sleep" above the street view whilst below it he has the words "City of my dreams" in Swedish as well.

DISLIKES: Tea, the end of snowboarding season, crappy coffee, early mornings, jogging (though he does it), the smell of the gym (who can deal with that?), cats, his mother arguing with him, Easter, most holidays in fact, fake Christmas trees, doing the books (it's why he has a very well paid accountant on the payroll!), having to finish a fight he didn't start, Matcha (what in the name of Satan is this anyway?)

SECRETS: These days his sister's death is a secret, though not on purpose. It got to be too difficult to talk about so only the people who had known him at the time and his roommate and best friend from university actually know anything. No one really understands beyond them why he puts in so much work and effort with the CP Foundation that he's part of that he does. He just lets them believe that he's just that passionate about helping people who cannot always demand what they need themselves.
PERSONALITY: Hayes is a bit of a wildcard in the sense that on any given day, his mood could jump from one thing to another. He's usually pretty down-to-Earth, he enjoys working with his hands, getting dirty but he also cleans up nice and equally enjoys going to the galas put on by the various charities he donates to regularly; although that it something else that would shock the masses. He's smart but not brilliant and doesn't ever think he's the smartest man in the room. He's a bit cocky but it's mostly pretense unless he's actually right. He's an open book kind of guy because he was raised to be that way. His charity work has nothing to do with wanting people to see him doing good for others in the world and has everything do with making sure voices get heard, care is properly given and people who would otherwise be stuck indoors somewhere have the chance to experience something in their lifetime. It has everything to do with making sure his sister would be happy with him because he knows he can be a real asshole sometimes and Hailey would never forgive him if he didn't make up for all the perceived bad that he did. Hayes hasn't really thought much about love or romance because there really hasn't been anyone in his life so far that he actually thought "I'm going to marry this girl." but that's not to say he doesn't put the effort in when he is seeing someone, he does. Call him fickle or a closet romantic but he wants sparks and laughter and realness. He wants what he parents had and he's afraid that kind of love story just doesn't exist anymore.MOTHER: Hazel Raquel Marner & sixty-eight.
FATHER: Hank Thomas Marner & deceased.
SIBLINGS: Hailey Marie Marner & deceased.
OTHERS: Lelantos Ramone & thirty-five, Best friend
Mnemosyne "Syn" Ramone & twenty-nine, Lelantos's younger sister.
PETS: Webster, German Shephard!
HOMETOWN: Homewood, California.
HISTORY: Hazel was a pastry chef in Europe when she'd been offered the job of a lifetime at a ski resort in California. Her new gig gave her a kitchen and staff of her own as desserts and treats were what the meals were centred around. It was an interesting concept and thankfully, it worked extremely well. She was young but so talented and had already made a name for herself, baking for royalty all over the world and celebrities and families alike. She loved it all but she wanted a place where she could settle down maybe, at the very least she wanted somewhere she could have a real dating life. Moving around so much was not conducive to any sort of relationship outside of a work-related one so she had started to feel lonely. And that was taking its own toll on her work so she took the job and things started to look up. She was twenty-eight years old when she met Hank. He had been part of the crew hired on to update and renovate the restaurant and she was helping to call the shots. Even though she couldn't serve in the restaurant, she could still cook since the kitchen wasn't at all apart of the update, it was perfect as is, so she made the crew basic meals and desserts to take home so the food they did have in the fridges wouldn't spoil.
They got to talking and near the end of the reno, Hank asked Hazel out on a date. Hank had known instantly that the pretty blonde was going to be his forever. It took him a little time to get Hazel to see it his way but he won her over and three years almost to the day of their first date, they exchanged vows and became husband and wife, partners in whatever life was going to throw their way. Another couple years of togetherness saw them expand their family and when their son, Hayes was three, they expanded again with Hailey. They thought the idea of all having the same first and last initial was cute and ran with it full steam ahead. Neither one of the children saw concern until they were older and learned what embarrassment was but by that point, Hayes at least didn't give a damn. He was a soccer star for the high school team, he ran track and played basketball. He was well trained on the slopes, could snowboard and ski though he preferred the latter to the former. He could toss a meal together, including sweets before he could drive and he loved working with his hands. He was brilliant, All-American boy but he also learned the hard way that people with money had a habit of looking down on people they believe didn't have any. He wore Levi jeans on the daily, almost always covered in drywall or dried cement or splattered in paint because he was helping his old man out with the business.
The truth didn't matter to a bunch of rich kid high schoolers though. They didn't see the soccer star or the bright academic or the track team member. They saw stained clothes and assumed his family didn't have enough money to buy good clothes. They saw the hand-me-down truck he drove when he was old enough and not the fact that it was his and not, in fact, his daddy's like theirs was. They were a small group of students so Hayes never paid them any mind because it was pointless to give them what they wanted and they wanted a reaction. He didn't have time for them because he had better things to think about; like memorising the plays for the upcoming game or the chemical compounds of something that sounded like it was from Krypton. He was by no means the brightest student in the class but he could keep up. And though he didn't graduate with honours, he did graduate at the top of his class and felt pretty damn good about that. The following September, he found himself in North Carolina attending Duke University, living in a dorm with a kid from New Jersey. They became fast friends living together, deciding within that first couple of weeks they should try to pledge a Fraternity. He didn't know how far into the whole process he'd make it but it could be fun and there was no harm in trying. They checked out a few but were both asked back to Pi Kappa Phi and after the process of initiation and the rest of the games they played, both Hayes and his dormmate, Lelantos became Fraternity brothers.
That first Thanksgiving, Hayes had been planning on sticking around campus and seeing what sort of trouble he could get into on his own. After his sister's death that spring, he hadn't been able to think much about holidays. As he was an affectionate and overprotective older brother, his heart tore from his chest when he'd been told. Of course, they'd known it would come eventually. It was rare for children with Hailey's level of Cerebral Palsy to make it anywhere near adulthood, in fact, it was quite rare for them to make it past the age of puberty but she was fifteen when she succumbed to her health issues. She had been brilliant and so unbelievably funny and Hayes had loved and adored his little sister to bits and pieces. She could do absolutely no wrong but they also knew that her life expectancy was going to be so much shorter than any of them had wanted. The only silver lining was that she surpassed her expected age by six years. Her funeral had been small, family and family friends. Hayes hadn't invited his friends from school but they'd shown up anyway. It meant so much more than he could ever put into words. But life moved on and he had been accepted to a school on the other side of the country. Hailey would have been pissed at him in her own way if he hadn't gone because he'd been telling her about it since he'd gotten the acceptance letter and though she was mostly nonverbal, she had her quirks that let them know exactly what she was feeling. And she'd been so happy for her big brother's acceptance letter.
He had hoped that she would be around to see him graduate but it hadn't been meant to be. His mother woke him up in the middle of the night just three weeks before Easter weekend to let him know they were taking her to the hospital because she'd had another episode. It was nothing new so he hollered out that he loved them all and that he would see them the next day before rolling over in bed and going back to sleep. It wasn't until he'd woken up the next morning, had his shower and was headed downstairs to grab some breakfast that he'd noticed his parents sitting at the kitchen island; something they only ever did when they were discussing serious topics. None of them had liked keeping Hailey out of the conversations, even if she didn't quite understand what they were talking about so they always sat around the table. His mother was in tears, his father on the phone, his mother's parents were sitting at the table so he assumed his father's parents were on the other line. It became immediately clear to Hayes that his sweet, loving baby sister did not make it out of the hospital. So Easter and probably most of the holidays for the year at least were going to be skipped; at least by Hayes. As it turned out, his parents thought the same thing and told Hayes just before Thanksgiving that they were going on a cruise. Hailey wouldn't have wanted them to put their lives on hold.
When his roommate found out about his plans, he offered up his home for the holiday and Hayes couldn't say no; Lelantos wouldn't let him. That first night at his friend's childhood home he'd been met with a warm welcome. He couldn't get to sleep that night and decided to amble downstairs to get himself a glass of water and maybe be a snoop around the place his friend grew up. The kid was comical, a great friend and unbelievably loyal. Hayes loved him like a brother already in their short three months of friendship. They knew just about everything about each other, including their siblings. Though he spoke highly of his sister, he was surprised to see that he didn't act like it when they were around her. Honestly, Hayes thought it was probably his fault because Lelantos knew about Hailey and what had happened only months beforehand so he thought that perhaps he didn't want to show his own sister too much affection around him so he wouldn't feel sad. It wasn't until he stumbled into the kitchen and found her sitting there, wide awake, that he heard her side of things. Maybe it was because his sister had just died, or because he understood a troubled soul when he saw one, either way, Hayes had a soft spot for Mnemosyne, or as she immediately corrected, Syn.
He stayed up talking with Syn for as long as he could before he felt like he was about to crash right there where he was sitting. The rest of the holiday continued much the same way and before they left to go back to school, he made sure to pass along his phone number should she need someone to talk to. His family had been an open and communicative one so seeing the life she'd been subjected to irritated Hayes and he wanted to help. When they got back to the dorms, he questioned his friend but all he got was that Syn was difficult and stubborn and his parents were equally difficult. He didn't honestly understand why his parents were like that, at least, that's what he said and though he tried to help his sister, she wasn't interested in his help. That might have been true, Hayes would probably never find out but he wanted to be there for Syn and promised to do just that. Over the years, Hayes grew his own construction and project management company until he was able to expand, taking on contracts all over the country. He'd continued to keep running his business out of California as he'd always wanted but after his father's passing and his mother's decision to move to New York and take on the tough but exciting job of opening up a small patisserie with a life-long friend, Hayes decided it was time to expand his horizons as well and made the move with her. He would never, ever say it was because his mother was getting on in age and she was officially the only family he had left but instead that his business would be better off in the bigger city but it was all a lie. His business was very well off being based in California but seemingly better after the move. He'd just become a mama's boy after his father died and couldn't stand the idea of being a whole country away from her.
Now that he's officially made the move and opened his offices, he could spend more time with the friends he did have though didn't get to see often; Lelantos being one of them. It was during a poker game one night that he suggested Hayes take on the job he was looking to have done. And after the yelling about no work at the poker tables, Hayes told him to swing by the office the next day and they'd sort it out. Three hours, two coffees and a couple signatures later, Hayes was the project manager of a complete overhaul of the Ramone's family business offices. It was a job he was actually looking forward to and one he had many ideas for.
