HUXLEY TRENTON SMYTH
FULL NAME: Huxley Trenton Smith.
NICKNAMES: He hates being called Hux, but people still do
AGE: 30
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Citizen.
GRADE: N/A.

EYES: Blue.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: He has a few but nothing with a good story – just an adventurous childhood.
TATTOOS: His sleeve is inspired by Louisiana swamps, and the symbols of New Orleans; his hometown. On his ribcage is his tribute to Bobba Fett from Star Wars. His thigh has The Joker, with his infamous The Killing Joke insanity image. He has another Star Wars piece on his lower calf – a pretty galaxy design. He has a final piece on the opposite foot that befits his nerdy needs.
PIERCINGS: Both sides of his ears, and a nose ring.
PLAY-BY: Adam Sperandio!LIKES: Comic books, graphic novels, chaos theory, Star Wars, The Joker, abandoned buildings, starry nights, horror movies with a good twist, drawing, good art pens, football, heavy rock music, salads, cats, arcade games, experiment days, getting drunk and talking science, homemade cheeseburgers, codebreaker puzzles, his Nintendo Switch, PS Games.
DISLIKES: Tangled wires, disruptive students, sleeping past noon, bugs, burning bacon, bad dye jobs, parent-teacher conferences, the build up to a release date, when Hollywood ruins something good (looking at you Ben Affleck), Pepsi, cracked skin, iced coffee, running (it’s so boring), sleepless nights, fruity cocktails, cold pizza.
FEARS: Not having a family, identity theft, damage coming to his collections.
SECRETS: He is very ashamed of it, but Huxley has taken sick days over the years just so he could play video games on their release day. It hasn’t been more than a few times, but he has done it and it’s terrible of him. He’ll take it to his grave.
PERSONALITY: Huxley is a super geek. He knows all the story lines of his comics and graphic novels and can tell you which issue something happened in. He’s organised enough to keep them arranged and stored in immaculate condition. He’s also the man who spends a small fortune on the collector’s edition of video game releases so he can have the statuette or poster. Huxley is the goofy kind of fun and he doesn’t try to hide it. In the class room he lets it shine through for his students, though he can be stern when he has to be. He knows that somewhere beneath the cool experiments and sci-fi jokes there is a line that is not to be crossed; he is the teacher, after all. To him, respect goes a long way. He gives it out and expects it back in return – very much a ‘get what you give’ kind of guy. Huxley is always curious about the world, although some might see his views as a little too optimistic or boyish. It’s true that the part of him that loves all things nerdy is a very childish part, but that’s the part of him that often gets him through the tough days. He can be easily affected by stress, but he turns to his games and comics then, choosing to lose himself in a fantasy world instead of giving into the negative emotions that overshadow him; or at least the negative emotions go into blowing something up in a game rather than the real world. He’s a bit of a romantic, although he’s also hesitant when it comes to love. His home life growing up wasn’t the best place to be, so he’s always afraid of ending up back in that nightmare, but at the same time he dreams of the day when he ends up with his own lovable, yet dysfunctional, brood and a girl who can handle him for who he is; a nerd with a heart of gold.MOTHER: Larissa Olbeth, 57.
FATHER: Stephen Jenson Smyth, 59.
SIBLINGS: Brock Lee Smyth, 22, half-brother.
OTHERS: Lona Serafina Smyth, 54, step-mother
Renaldo Tucker Waynes, 61, mom’s boyfriend.

HOMETOWN: Nags Head, North Carolina.
HISTORY: The story goes that once upon a time Larissa and Stephen were madly, passionately in love. They were crazy about each other and barely spent a moment apart. Maybe that was the key to their downfall. No one truly knew what happened between them. They married, had the perfect little home in the small town and had a beautiful baby boy together. Huxley was healthy, happy, and all any parent could hope for. That happy image lasted until the little boy was three; just old enough for his memories of the happy times to fade away as he got older.
Then the fighting began. It was endless. Huxley heard it first thing in the morning when he came down for his breakfast, and it carried on long after he went to bed each night. It was at a friend’s house where he went for solace when he was six that he discovered video games and comics. Soon he was spending his allowance on them just so he had something to bury he face into when the world turned dark – which was whenever his parents were home at the same time.
Larissa and Stephen didn’t divorce until Huxley was eleven. It was all a matter of money and demanding rights. It was a drawn out, complicated procedure because they both wanted so much from what had apparently once been a good marriage. Even their own lawyers seemed to tire of the fighting, of the constant bickering between the two. At the middle of it all was Huxley. Neither mom or dad could see that they were constantly twisting and turning his world around to suit their own happiness. He didn’t understand why his family wasn’t like anyone else’s, or why they couldn’t just divorce like other kid’s in his class. The battle went on for almost three years before they settled on an agreement, and a joint custody plan for Huxley. By this point though, Huxley was almost fourteen, and a lot of the damage that could be done to him, had been done.
He was completely invested in his games, Star Wars, and his comics. They had been his salvation through everything. A bad day pushed him to them, and his life was always looking towards the next release date. He was a complete geek, but the only thing that stopped him from being a target for the bullies was that he also played football. It was an odd combination, but the school councillor had suggested it when she called him in for a session after discovering the divorce was being finalised. He did it simply to keep his teacher’s quiet, but he had a physical knack for it, and kept it up because it meant he got to stay out of the house a little longer. He couldn’t say he enjoyed staying with either parent very much. He recalled all the horrible things they had said to each other and neither of them seemed to be very nice people to Huxley, despite the trips, presents and vacations they went on when he was a teenager. He hadn’t exactly had much of a childhood thanks to either of them.
A new physics teacher during his sophomore year of high school opened his eyes to the sciences. Huxley had always had a vague interest, but it was always from an idealistic science-fiction point of view. After a football ending injury wrote him off the team, he spent more time doing his homework and studying things like chaos theory, and asking questions in class about things he had read about. His teacher was just as willing to stay behind and discuss unrealistic ideas on a realistic level with him, and suddenly a new door was opened to Huxley. He soon found himself graduating high school with a way out from his parent’s toxic environment. All he had to feel relieved about was that his father’s relationship with his new wife seemed different, so his younger half brother might be spared from the horror Huxley had grown up with.
Huxley went to Arizona for college, and there he studied Physics and Teaching. His high school teacher had inspired him to follow in his footsteps. He knew he could do it. His time at college was mostly spent living with two other guys and spending more time geeking out than it was doing assignments and projects. He isn’t ashamed of that. His memories of late night gaming sessions with the guys were some of the best he ever had.
After he graduated and had completed the compulsory requirements for his dream job of teaching troublesome teenagers, Huxley moved to New York with a friend from college. They got an apartment together and kitted it out for all the newest games with every available console set up and the best TV they could afford. It was his perfect dream. He got a job at a local school and that was his life for a couple of years. Everything was fantastic. He dated a bit, but never found anything serious. Eventually, the apartment became his own after his buddy met the love of his life and the happy couple got married and found a house outside of the hectic city so they could start a family. All this meant for Huxley was that he could move his comic collection into the spare room and turn that into a den for his workspace, and kit it out with all of his collectibles that didn’t really fit elsewhere.
He still lives there now, and parts of the apartment probably do look like a kid’s bedroom with all the superheroes and villains hanging about, but he really is a grown man with a grown up job.
