PERSONALITY:
Being raised by a single mother, Mikey was always taught to be independent. He isn’t afraid of going places alone or learning to do things for himself; rather, he likes the challenge and is always open to discovering new things. This often leads to him showing his stubborn side and he can get very bull-headed once he has his head set to something. But, he’s also very caring and has a big heart, though his outer looks may deter away from his teddy bear insides. He will always stop and hold open door or take a moment to do something special for the people who loves; he likes making people smile and giving back whatever he can. While his mother wished he could’ve been a doctor, Mikey has music in his blood and was born to be artistic. His love for anything musical runs deep and he can usually be found playing his guitar or getting lost in piano keys. He’s a bit of a romantic, but really Artemis is the one who gets to see that up close.
Mikey can be impulsive and sometimes doesn’t think his decisions all the way through, like dropping out of college. But, he likes to go with the flow and firmly believes in the idea that everything will turn out alright in the end so there’s no need to stress about it. He is a hard worker, but has a tendency to overwork himself if he isn’t careful and often spreads himself thin with the amount of projects he’ll take on at once in order to please people.MOTHER: Ashley Farfeldt & 43

HISTORY:
Ashley Farfeldt had never in her entire life been normal. She was raised by hippy parents who loved the unique and far-out and they passed this love down to their daughter, ensuring she was raised as free-minded as they were. It led to her having an interesting upbringing across the United States as her parents often travelled for festivals or her father’s band, so much of her life was spent being homeschooled on a tour bus. After taking her GRE when she was 17, Ashley settled down permanently in Las Vegas to be near her mother. Her father had died a few years before from cancer and her mother was showing signs of early Alzheimer’s; she didn’t want to go too far in case things got worse. However, money was tight for the women and Ashley didn’t have many options without knowledge beyond her very muddled homeschooling, so she turned to pole dancing in a club near the Strip. She was a pretty thing and was instantly a hit with both tourists and regulars, making a decent dime that kept her mother more than comfortable. It didn’t take long for the temptation of more money to lure her in and Ashley began doing more than just dancing, partaking in the unmentionable business side of the club reserved for only the best clientele.
One broken condom later and Ashley found herself pregnant at only 18 years old. She had no idea who the father was, but she was determined to keep her baby at all costs. She was feeling so alone in the world and that little being growing inside her was just the kick she needed to begin bettering her life, both for her child and herself. Ashley quit the club and began working at a grocery store in an entry level management position; the owner had been a friend of her father’s and owed the man a few favors. She had her baby, a beautiful boy that became her entire world the moment she saw him, and she raised him in Las Vegas with the help of her mother.
They were never rich, but little Michael lived in a house full of love. He was raised by two strong women who taught him the importance of hard work, free thinking, and music. Michael inherited his grandfather’s love of guitar and began playing at an early age, taking on piano and guitar and anything else he could get his hands on at school. He learned to read music before he learned how to properly read words and was always humming tunes to his favorite songs instead of studying, a habit that continued through his high school time. His teenage years were nothing spectacular; he started a band that had a little success, had his share of puppy love flings, and did the typical stupid partying. Michael wasn’t in the popular crowd, but he had his friends and his music and that was plenty for him.
His mother saved tirelessly in order to send him to college, wanting only the best for her baby. He didn’t want to disappoint her after all her hard work, but he was much more in love with music than pursuing his education. However, Michael applied for schools with decent programs and finally landed at the university near Huntsville, Alabama. The South was a completely different part of the country for him, but he was craving adventure, and if he was going to force himself through another four years of school, he wanted to go somewhere new to experience as much as he could. So, Michael moved to Alabama and studied music for two years. He worked at a café and a movie theatre during that time, trying to make ends meet to afford his schooling. In his spare time, he could be found playing guitar on the local streets and trying to make a few bucks to treat himself to a pizza. Little did he know, his busking would bring him something far more valuable than greasy takeout.
One day after his morning class, Mikey was feeling in need of some quality guitar time and set up on a street corner for the day. He played with a smile, thanking the people who threw a few loose coins into his opened, beat-up case that lay at his feet. A bright blonde head in the small crowd caught his attention and he couldn’t help himself; something about her drew him in and, after introducing himself, there really was no turning back. Miss Artemis Cohen stole his heart, even if she was only 16 when he was 20. They began dating and it was impossible to tear them apart, though her parents sure did try. Mikey didn’t want to pull her away from her family especially when she had a full one while he only had his mother, but they were cruel to her and he wouldn’t have his Missy hurt by such judgmental people who couldn’t see past the few years separating the couple. Watching Artemis choose him over her family was heartbreaking for Mikey; he didn’t want her to ruin what family she had, understanding better than most how important those people could be. But, she made a decision and he respected that, even if it was a lot to handle when they were both still so young.
So, he quit school, much to his mother’s chagrin, and moved with Artemis to the city that never sleeps. There were opportunities for both of them there to chase their dreams and escape the memories that haunted Artemis. Mikey didn’t return to college though his mother tried her best to convince him; she really wanted the best for him, but school had never been his favorite thing. Instead, he got a job at the Hard Rock as a bartender and made enough to get a decent apartment for him and Artemis. Before long, he was auditioning for the Broadway music department and was taken on as a general musician playing to audiences every night in a theatre bigger than anything he could’ve dreamed. He doesn’t make much, but it’s enough to pay the bills and have a bit leftover to put into savings. While this isn’t the stage he wanted to be playing on back when he was a lanky rocker teen, Mikey is working hard towards a new dream: becoming a composer. He gets to play all these amazing scores for musicals but it still doesn’t feel as rewarding as playing his own music, and that’s what dream he’s chasing now.
Now, Mikey is enjoying his life in New York with music and Artemis keeping him smiling. He’s fallen harder for the girl as the years have gone on and, though he’s only got a couple of college credits and his top notch brain, he’s hoping one day to marry her and keep living this fairy tale life they’ve created.
