FEARS: many eyes, public speaking, churches.
SECRETS: His fear of churches stems from his very religious grandmother, who would threaten them all extreme religious punishment when they were kids for misbehaving. He knows now it was ridiculous, but Julien is still very unsettled by churches and religion in general. He doesn’t talk about it because it could offend people and often it sparks unpleasant conversations.
PERSONALITY: Julien is a warm and friendly guy who greets everyone with a smile. He’s a likeable guy, even if not everyone goes on to become his best pal. He is helpful, and always the type to do his best. Julien is a determined guy who won’t give up on people or projects. He likes to see things through to completion. A social creature, Julien enjoys being out with his friends, catching up and making memories. He’s definitely more of a shoulder to cry on than he is a fighter. He’ll be there to pick up the pieces when things fall apart, and offer advice when his friends feel like things are the worst. He likes to take care of himself, and will look after those around him, too. When it comes to romance, Julien likes to take his time to get to know someone. He’s a fan of a few dates, the sweet approach where he gets to know someone before using that knowledge to spoil and show his affection. He’s definitely the romantic type, but there’s always something that gets in the way of his relationships. Typically it’s how his friendships with other girls form so easily, and that his best friend since childhood is a girl.MOTHER: Emma Rachael Thorne, 60.

HISTORY: Emma and David knew they wanted a large family from the moment they met. After dating for three years they wasted no time at all in getting down to business, and soon people stopped being surprised when Emma announced another pregnancy to their friends and family. Both of them came from large, loving families, and the holidays were a chaotic scene with kids screaming and running round while adults tried to find their own offspring from a wild mess of children just running dominant around whoever's home was hosting the festivities.
Julien was born in the middle of the brood of ten. Roughly, anyway. He was always a social kid, hanging out with his siblings and often sharing friends with them since they were so very close in age anyway, and often had the same hobbies or played on the same sports teams. Julien was a basketball kid like his older brother Darien. He was smart enough to keep his teachers off his back, and he was the one brother his other siblings seem to always get along with. There might have been screaming fits over bathroom hogging or taking something from someone else, but it was extremely rare for Julien to be caught up in it. He was definitely the peace keeper. Often he was the one running from room to room playing messenger between the teenagers who weren't talking to each other but who would scream loud enough for everyone to hear what was not being said between them. It was a role he was good at, and if he could stop world war three before dinner then he considered it all a good win.
His love for sports was something that encouraged him to go into physiotherapy as a career. Julien knew he wouldn't play long term or professionally. Basketball was a high school bonus, but in truth he preferred goofing around in the neighbourhood hoops with his brothers and friends, or playing football in their own backyard whenever they had cousins over. It was the fun of the game rather than winning that he liked. However, he didn't really want to run away from it completely. Physiotherapy was a suggestion by a new coach who saw him less dedicated than some when it came to the end of matches, and spoke to him after a losing game one night. Julien liked helping people, but didn't have the smarts to go all the way into medicine and come out in the white coat calling himself doctor, but his knowledge of sports and the human anatomy could push him towards this.
So he went for it. And he excelled. When he graduated college he moved away from Nebraska to New York where a lucrative job offer was with a baseball team. He only stayed there for eighteen months before Julien found a job working in a hospital dealing mostly with patients who had severe injuries and needed a lot of remission therapy before they could be back to their former selves. He liked it more than with the same injuries, helping some sportsman get over a popped knee. These people could be facing life altering situations and helping them adapt or overcome the obstacles was so rewarding for Julien that he couldn't believe he hadn't thought about this sooner. Whether it was just helping someone after a knee replacement, or working with someone to fight for their mobility after a spinal injury, Julien gave them everything he had to try and help them through it.
He turned thirty with a huge family party, and they took up most of a New York hotel for the event when everyone arrived. It was totally worth it just to see how everyone was getting on with their lives. He's proud of his family, and of himself, but he's always looking for the next adventure, the next leap of faith that he can take.
