SECRETS: During her boarding school years she used to break curfew and take a train to Central London to watch the buskers on the street at night. She drank milkshakes and listened to them as she walked the streets, catching a midnight train back to the school dormitories and sneaking back through a buckled window no one on the groundskeeping staff ever seemed to notice. She realises now how dangerous it was, but she’s more amazed at how no one from the faculty ever caught her. She lost track of how many times she did it.
PERSONALITY: Annie is a happy-go-lucky woman with a carefree disposition. She follows her heart which means she often acts impulsively, changing her look or booking a trip as the mood takes her. She’s a friendly creature, who will reach out to anyone in the hopes of befriending or helping them. Annie is a sweetheart, and this can be grating on some people because her eternal optimism means it’s hard to get to her or bring her down - at least at first glance. Annie bottles up all of her negative emotions because of how she thinks she has to be. She’d rather cry in private when things get to her, or when life is far too stressful. Annie is also artistic as well as being highly educated, and she very much prefers to let her creative side show, be it through the sketching she does to relax, or the open mic nights she takes part in with friends as a casual hobby. Her intelligence she believes is just something gained from a childhood of overpaid schooling and reading plenty of books, but she puts it to good use now as a professor of her favourite subject. Annie prefers to be a shoulder to cry on, someone who is helpful. If there’s conflict she’s the one to try and resolve it. She’s not aggressive or much of a fighter, but that isn’t to say that Annie isn’t strong; her strength manifests in words, and in how much she can take being thrown at her without breaking. Annie, when it comes to love, is something of a dreamer. She’s had many relationships (to the dismay of her mother), but none of them have lasted and grown into something serious enough to suggest wedding bells and babies. Annie is honest to herself when it comes to her feelings, and she wears her heart on her sleeve. She enjoys being swept off her feet, but at the same time values her freedom. Someone who respects her is far more important to her than someone who comes in and simply spoils her rotten. HISTORY: Katarina and Keifer did not want children. At least they didn’t when Katarina fell pregnant with Annie, their eldest daughter. They had saved their money to travel the world. They couldn’t travel with a baby screaming at them all hours of the day and night. Being in England at the time, they stayed there and Keifer took the chance to work and boost their savings some more. They already had a decent amount in the bank thanks to trust funds and the college education he had. Basically, Annie was born on Valentine’s day and three years later she was left in the care of a nanny in a London flat. Two years later when school started, the little girl was shipped to a boarding school where she spent most of her life from then on out. Annie would join her parents for the long summer holidays, and very briefly for Christmas, but that was it.

She had two younger sisters who were treated very differently to her. When she was young Annie couldn’t understand why she was the odd one out. There was no real answer for it. Katarina found her other two daughters so very different from her eldest daughter. They were more mouldable, whereas Annie was better educated and a lot more vocal about the questions and concerns she had. Katarina wanted an easy life and she didn’t want a child who might cause her trouble.

Annie actually enjoyed living away from it all though. She was a carefree spirit as she hit her teenage years, and the boarding school was a family of its own to her. Friends were like siblings, and there were certain teachers who she could turn to for help and advice when she felt like she needed an adult rather than another teenager. Of course there were times when it felt like a prison, which was why Annie learnt how to sneak out and not get caught. She was caught up in the magic of London, especially London at night. She just loved walking around when it was dark and people were heading home, wrapped up and half asleep. She enjoyed the quiet tube rides, the buskers, and the noise of the bars. The daytime rush was gone and it was a completely different vibe that she was totally in love with. Annie had no idea how she managed to get away with it as often as she did, or how she did it without getting caught.

After her years at boarding school were over, Annie went to the University of St Andrews where she studied her passion; history. She completed university, added a Masters in Colonial History to her name, and then took a gap year with her friends where they went and taught in India, Africa, and then treated themselves to some vacations in there, too, hitting the beaches and yoga retreats that caught their eyes. Annie landed herself a graduate teaching position after that, at NYU. She chose to go to America to be closer to her family. She didn’t have much of a relationship with them, but her sister Queenie was reaching out to her more and more, and Annie wasn’t going to throw that chance away, even if there was still distance between her and her parents.

When one of the history professors retired, a space opened for Annie, and at twenty-seven she earned the spot she wanted at NYU as a fully fledged professor. A year later and she’s proud to have passed all of those who have stuck with her through the first year of her courses. New York is started to feel a little like home, but Annie isn’t all too sure if she’ll stay there forever just yet. Right now, she’s focusing on her career, on helping Queenie settle, and on hopefully helping Bellamy find some damn sense.
