PERSONALITY: Dodger is mostly a tomboy who is also a sports fanatic. She’s responsible when it comes to looking after her business, but at the same time she knows how to have fun, the last one to be guided out of a club on the weekends. She’s confident, and knows how to take care of herself. Despite having her independence, Dodger would do anything for her dad or her twin sister. She stands up for what she believes in, and for those she loves. Dodger isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty in a fight if it comes down to it. When it comes to love, Dodger hasn’t really had time to find anything special in her life, but her bed is kept warm by the men she’ll bring home for the night, or the short lived lovers she isn’t ashamed to have or steal. As much as she might enjoy her flirtatious wiles leading to something more serious and long lasting, her busy life hasn’t allowed room for romance and some Prince Charming to sweep this paint splashed warrior princess off her feet.MOTHER: Carla Mae Greene, deceased.

HISTORY: Carla was never supposed to stay with Graeme. She picked him out for a fling, something to keep her occupied from thinking about the boy who broke her heart. Graeme was more endearing than she expected though. He had his own hardware store – a small business that he had built on the foundations of his father’s dreams. He was a simple guy who had money but was sensible with it. Most of what he made went into improving his business, and he wasn’t one for extravagant spending. Carla wasn’t used to men like that. She went for the rich and spoilt, those who could treat her better than others. Graeme did none of that; or at least not how she expected. He was kind, said sweet things, but their time together was simple and he wouldn’t waste money on an overpriced restaurant when he knew a cheap place that served the best food this side of the city. Her pregnancy was even less expected. She panicked at first, but Graeme reassured her that he would do everything right by her and his child, and he did, even when they discovered that Carla was carrying twin girls.
Dodger and her sister were born in the dead of night, the older of the two taking the name of Graeme’s favourite sports team. Carla was too exhausted and overwhelmed to talk him into anything else. She was very much bewildered by the idea of motherhood, and though she did her best raising her daughters, she often felt like she was getting something wrong, an Graeme had to reassure her that she wasn’t. He wanted to marry her, to cement their family, but Carla couldn’t. There was something inside that kept her from taking that leap with him, despite living together and sitting down at the kitchen table with their girls for their meals.
Dodger got on better with her dad from the very beginning. She wasn’t a daddy’s girl by any means, but Carla got frustrated when her little girl came in from school or the park with scraped knees, bruises, and mud all over her. The braids carefully tied into place that morning would be half undone, if not completely out of her hair. Graeme used to laugh about it, say he was happy he had a girl climbing trees and chasing after baseballs rather than cooping up with those ridiculous dolls that were overpriced and broke too easily. Dodger was a sporty girl who wanted to do what the boys did. She wanted to play football, go to baseball games, race the older kids. She didn’t scream when she fell over and cut her shins up, and trekking home with bloody limbs was something of a badge of honour for her.
She was an active girl who never enjoyed sitting still for very long, and wasn’t content to dress up and look pretty. She wanted to run wild, to splash around in puddles and to paint with her fingers and nose and anything else she could think of. She was a wild child and as she got older and didn’t grow out of it, it only made Carla feel like she had less control over Dodger. It wasn’t truly the case. Mother and daughter just didn’t always see eye to eye, and they couldn’t understand each other from their own perspectives. Graeme intervened when he was around, but he still had the business and the shop to run and look after.
Carla died when the girls were thirteen. There was a highway pile up that killed seven people and Carla was one of them. The twins were in school when it happened, and had to be removed from class for their father to break the news to them. Carla was DOA, and it was declared that she had died instantly on impact. She had been driving to visit an old friend for a birthday celebration, but a truck lost control and the domino effect was horrific. It was a dark time, but after the funeral was over, Dodger simply never mentioned Carla again. If she was brought up in conversation then the eldest twin simply kept her responses to the bare minimum and changed the subject as soon as there was an opening. Graeme felt like it was avoidance of grief, but he too was struggling a bit. He was a man suddenly alone raising two teenage girls. He felt lost and out of his depth, but he needn’t have been. Dodger was never going to be any trouble for him. She might have turned his hair grey in places, but she was the one who went to the ball games with him, who sat down to shout at the television with him, and she helped out at the hardware store on the weekends and after school.
A fireball of a character with a love of art, Dodger went to college to study Interior Design. Her high school years had seen her drift between social groups as her aesthetic changed. So when it came to college it was something of the same cycle for the first two years. Dodger went to school in New York, and flew through her four years with hard work and in a small apartment that worked for a first place after moving out. She thought being an Interior Designer would be all she ever dreamt of, but once she had that degree and the job she thought was perfect, the ideal was short lived. Dodger lasted a year before realising she needed to be more hands on in a project. She wanted to get in there and work on something without having plans and ideas passed around with so many people involved. So, one afternoon, she just quit.
Over a weekend she launched the plans for her own business. She made the subtle switch between Interior Design and Interior Decorating and started her own company. With her dad’s solid reputation and her own charisma, she got a few small contracts to start her off and then took on a small crew to work with her, now she’s working on making some bigger deals, getting out there. She’s enjoying it more, knowing she made the right decision to switch since she’s a lot more involved now.
