SECRETS: When Sera had been six, she'd had a best friend in her father's private driver's daughter, Nanette. They were the same age, looked like they could have been sisters and were just as close as that. Their nanny, as they'd shared one, had taken them to the zoo and despite all the bodyguards they'd had with them- her father's only demand for the trip, someone managed to walk off with Nanette. The idiots thought they'd taken Sera, had expected to get a fortune from an exchange. They were mistaken. Sera's father and his men stormed the building they'd quickly learned was the safe house Nanette was being kept at and took care of the problem. Nanette's father knew what could happen but after that he couldn't work for the house anymore. Sera's father game him more than enough money to live the rest of their days on, some for Nanette to see a specialist and new identities to live on. Sera never saw her friend again after that.
PERSONALITY: To put it in simple terms, Sera is a rude, unapologetic bitch and she likes it that way. She was taught to be polite and smile whenever she left the compound, be courteous and put on a damn good show. The reality of it all was that she'd never had to keep her mouth shut, her father appreciated honest people in his business dealings and Sera learned at a young at that the truth was easier to deal with than a lie. Not to be confused, she could lie like a bear skin rug in front of a fire in a cottage in the woods and it came just as naturally to her as being the blunt woman she'd grown up to be. She'd been raised to take over the family business when the time came, which meant having a certain air about herself. Unfortunately for her, she developed that cold exterior and she's not entirely sure if there's anything else about her. She's trying to figure out if there's more to her now that she's away from her old life and she's a little afraid that all she is, is the daughter of a crime kingpin.MOTHER: Doutzen Constantine & deceased.

HISTORY: Doutzen and Lars met of all places, at a local branch of the library. Doutzen was working at the information desk and Lars had popped in to basically hide. No one in the world he'd grown up in would believe he'd ever step foot in a library. He was Lars Constantine after all and Lars Constantine didn't do mundane. Doutzen was intrigued by the man he'd stumbled his way into her library. She was soft and quiet but underneath those small glasses, she had a steel rod for a backbone. She took no bullshit from anyone and a few minutes after she realised he wasn't interested in actually checking out the library or a book, she took him to get out and to only return when he was serious. She both amused and shocked him. No one had ever told Lars off before. Most people he ran into were too afraid of him or his father to say a bad thing about him, or to his face. Doutzen didn't have a clue who the man was nor did she give a damn. He was disrupting her workspace and she didn't appreciate that.
Lars returned again and again, whittling down Doutzen's defenses until she agreed to have a coffee with him. They stayed out until nearly four in the morning, laughing and just getting to know each other. She still had no idea he was a criminal from one of the biggest crime families in the country. She just thought his name was familiar but she couldn't place it and she didn't put much thought into it. She met his father and he was so sweet to her that she remained clueless until a full year into their relationship. And even then, Lars hadn't been the one to tell her, Doutzen's friend Famke had. By then it was too late, Doutzen was head over heels in love with Lars and even though she confronted him about his criminal behaviour, it didn't change a thing. He tried to keep her away from it as much as he could, not wanting the love of his life to become involved in it in any way. Though her friends were shocked, she still married him shortly afterwards and continued to be by his side in all his decisions.
Another year of blissful marriage saw Doutzen bring their daughter into the world. She was set and determined to name their daughter after her wonderful husband's own grandmother. She'd obviously never met the older woman, who had past long before but she'd been told tales of her and Lars playing pretend when he'd been small and Doutzen wanted that same creative aspect in their lives again. Lars left her hospital room to see their daughter in the nursery when alarms sounded and he just knew something was wrong with his beautiful wife. She died from a spontaneous hemorrhage before he'd made it back to her room. It was a rare prognosis but it did happen and it had happened. There was no one to blame, it was no one's fault. But it still crushed Lars that their little girl would never get to know her mother, that he would never again get to see her smiling and laughing or get to kiss her goodbye before she rushed out the door for the library she adored so much. He would never say it wasn't tough raising a little girl on his own because he hadn't. Lars had had so many people around to help him.
Sadly, only a handful of years were good with Sera home, learning and growing before threats on both hers and Lars' lives got in the way. He felt it would be best to bring in tutors and keep Seraphina home instead of registering her for school. He didn't want to risk her life so he kept her home. After that, Lars became quite paranoid and refused to allow anyone to photograph his daughter. What photographs did get out, he made sure disappeared. The government was constantly on his ass, accusing him of criminal behaviour but in all the years he'd been a bad man, he'd never been caught; and he would never get caught. He was a brilliant man, a trait he saw more and more in his daughter. Unintentionally, he started to groom his daughter to be the heir of his kingdom. She was brilliant and quick as a whip and had a tongue that ripped people apart and left no room to argue. She would be one of the best in the world. At six, he'd made a foolish mistake in allowing Sera's nanny to take her and the other little girl she cared for to the zoo. He'd demanded bodyguards upon bodyguards and contingency plans should something happen but he'd never thought anything would. He'd been having a bit of a tiff with another family and though they had not verbally sworn revenge, they'd still taken it and though they hadn't gotten Sera, they had taken her only friend, Nanette. Lars was furious and used his many connections to find the safe house she was being stashed in. Though he had stayed in the car the entire time, he'd been there while his men took care of the problem and walked out of the building with the little girl bundled up. After that, he'd known he couldn't have possibly let his driver continue working for him. He'd known it. Lars had grown a soft spot for the girl and did all that he could to make sure Nanette and her family would live a comfortable life away from them.
From there, Seraphina's life turned towards any other sort of life. At least, that's what she thought anyway. Sera understood that other children got to go to school and meet people and hang out and she didn't get to do that. The only other children she met were her father's associate's children and though they were polite and friendly, they were scared out of their wits of her father and making her cry. Making Sera cry would bring a wrath worse than death, or so they'd all thought. It didn't help that because her father brought in tutors, she was a little more educated then most of them were and it probably irritated them a little bit. Sera had never been one to care though and continued to be herself, to be curious about everything in the world. She was flying through exams and such, so much so that she actually acquired her diploma two years ahead of where she'd needed to be with requirements to start college as a sophomore should she attend. She didn't go though, she never even sent out to any schools. She hadn't thought it would be a good idea so she let it be.
Fortunately, over the next few years, Lars saw how disappointed his daughter was. And concocted a tale to get her out of the house. He sat her down and told her something big was happening and it wasn't safe at home, though it was all a lie. He continued, telling her that he'd applied to a bunch of school for her, searching out a general education degree, which she could easily change when she got there and really found what she was after. He told her she needed to get out of the country, that way whoever was after him, wouldn't be able to get to her. It was all so convincing that Sera accepted it all without question and started to pack her bags. She was given a live-in bodyguard, a nice apartment in a great, fancy building with a doorman and it's own security and her father pulled out all the stops for her. She had her own driver hired before the plane landed and life in New York was certainly interesting. She was completely bored sitting around the apartment with a couple friends she'd made in class and thought it would be fun to just get out there and see the city with them. They walked by a couple different tour groups and were cracking jokes and Sera suggested they apply for the gig, said it looked pretty interesting and if it wasn't, at least it would be good for a laugh. She never, ever thought she would get a callback, suggesting she go down to the proper office and have a real interview.
She hadn't taken it seriously, why would she, but it hadn't mattered, they'd taken her words to heart and thought she would be the perfect candidate for the job. She spoke Dutch and they didn't have a satisfactory Dutch guide. From there she booked a few jobs that saw her taking people around on the weekends as she was still in school and then more so during the weeks of summer when she was in the city. It was pretty good, she could accept or decline jobs on her own whim and really, she hadn't needed the money. It was more for the laugh than anything else. But she found she had actually enjoyed telling people about the city she had grown to love in the short time she'd been there.
