PLAY-BY: Thomas DohertyLIKES: strong coffee, import beer, acrobatics, themed routines, trampolines, apple turnovers, speaking fluent Portuguese, practice, a good book (That he can read on the swing bar), sleeping on flights, working out, hitting the clubs, root beer, maple flavoured popcorn, original Pringles, karate
DISLIKES: being compared to a clown, getting into fights, missing a call from his sister, getting injured, iced tea (he really doesn't care it's what everyone drinks back home), someone thinking he's an idiot because he has an Alabama drawl, the seconds before the curtain rises, sitting still, caking on the makeup, small spaces, New York traffic.
FEARS: A stunt going horribly wrong, losing his sister, he's also claustrophobic
SECRETS: Though Sailor is also a black belt in Karate, it was his sister who beat up a particularly nasty bully in high school. She'd gotten fed up with how Sailor was being treated and finally did something about it. Sailor took the fall for it because he didn't want to see her suffer the consequences of sticking up for him though he knows she would have taken the punishment with pride.
PERSONALITY: Sailor had to learn young to be a bit of a tough guy, grow a little thicker skin. He's very athletic and not just because he has to be. He's constantly on the move, really unable to sit still. He totally claustrophobic though there's no real reason for it, he just is. He's a very energetic man. When he's not practicing, he's at the gym or jogging through the park or taking a karate class or even hitting a dance floor somewhere; hell, he even moves in his sleep. He likes to think he's funny though he would never make it on stage alone. He's driven and can be a little intense but he's just got so much focus that he can be a little blind to the world around him at times. He's really a nice guy, oddly down to Earth for someone who forgets the world exists. Sailor, despite his career choice and the name his parents gave him, is a straight man.MOTHER: Alonsa Stone & Forty Seven.
FATHER: David Stone & Forty Seven.
SIBLINGS: Serenity & Twenty Three.
OTHERS: His troupe.
PETS: None, he travels too much!
HOMETOWN: Aberdeen, Scotland.
HISTORY: Alonsa and David met at a karate class of all places. Anne had moved to Aberdeen, Scotland from Natal, Brazil. Alonsa made the move with her parents and younger brother when she'd been twelve and her parents had decided that to keep things as close to normal as they could, she would be immediately enrolled in a karate class. Alonsa spoke English well so she hadn't had much trouble making friends, though with the thick Scottish accent, it was difficult to understand the people around her on the first try. The boy next door teased her relentlessly, constantly making fun of her whenever she spoke Portuguese to her parents or her brother. And yet, that snarky, annoying boy went into his house every night and asked his parents to teach him that weird language the girl next door was speaking. They took him to the library, checked out a bunch of books and attempted it. Eventually it didn't work the way they'd wanted and his mother asked Alonsa's mother to teach him in secret.
Yelena thought it was cute and agreed to it and slowly taught the bright boy her native tongue. The next time Alonsa was outside, teasing her little brother about the comic books he loved so much, a brave, young David spoke up with a passable sentence about leaving her brother alone. He got a little lost after that and a little embarrassed but it was too late, Alonsa was smitten. Of course, he continued to tease her all through the next five years and then at seventeen, he finally decided to admit that he really liked her; a statement that really hadn't needed to be vocalized. Alonsa agreed to a date and they had been dating from then onward. Alonsa got accepted into University of Aberdeen. It meant that she could stay at home and not have to worry about that while she got her degree in Early Childhood Education. She had wanted to be a elementary level teacher growing up and was happy to walk across the stage after all that work to become just that.
Alonsa and David were engaged when they were twenty, married when they were twenty three and were insanely happy. A few years into their relationship they had a little bubbling baby girl. She was sweet and daring and Alonsa and David were so proud of their sweet Serenity. A year after they brought her into the world, they welcomed a little boy who was much like his big sister. He slept through the night, he was happy and bubbly and Alonsa and David felt like they really lucked out with their kids. The pair grew up with different talents but they were so good to each other. Serenity was such a book smart girl, straight A's and honour roll while Sailor could be found climbing trees or walls or anything else he could reach as he was able to reach it. He was covered in bumps and bruises but the doctor's all assured his nervous parents that it was just the way he was.
They considered so many different classes for them both but Serenity settled on Ballet while Sailor wanted it all. He was a mover, he needed to be constantly on the go. They enrolled him in gymnastics, karate and soccer. Eventually his gymnastics coach suggested acrobatics since most of what the little boy was doing was twisting himself up like a pretzel and spinning himself around like a circus performer. David did the research and had him enrolled in a programme a week later where Sailor thrived. From then on, it was all acrobatics for the youngest Stone. He knew from quite a young age that he wanted to become a performer and his parents supported him in his dreams.
There wasn't much in his life that didn't revolve around acrobatics. He put them into everything he could because it amused him. He would crunch himself up in his desk at school to do his work, because attending school was the one thing his parents wouldn't back down from; he had to finish school. High school was high school for Sailor. He was teased relentlessly because he wasn't built like the Rugby players everyone loved in Scotland but he didn't care either. He never wanted to be that big or that buff, it would have ruined his chances at doing his dream job. He was quite good at ignoring all the hateful things that were said to him and at least he had Serenity around to talk to when people were being cruel. She was in the popular crowd, made friends everywhere she went and thrived in the high school setting. She was pretty and smart and friendly and she never turned her brother away when he needed her to hold his hand. A few reassuring words in Portuguese later, Sailor was right as rain once again and he was back to doing his own thing.
Eventually he did graduate but instead of going off to their parent's alma mater like his sister, Sailor moved to New York, thinking it would be better for him to find work. He'd been right of course. Sailor found work as a waiter, like struggling artists did, while he took classes to become a teacher one day like his ma. Fourteen months into his new life in New York, Sailor landed an acrobatic job and impressed so much that he was brought in as a proper cast member. He stuck with that for the rest of university and after walking away with his degree, found that there was a opening in an acrobatic troupe. He auditioned, waited four days and received a callback. Now at twenty two, Sailor is a fulltime Acrobat who is constantly practising his routines with his group. In the short time he'd been part of the family, they'd travelled all over the world to perform and he couldn't be any happier than he is. He might not spend every day, all day in New York City but it was his new home and he did have a nice apartment there to return to when shows abroad finally settled down.
