PERSONALITY: This gentle soul has a very musical gift that she wants to share with the world. Elodie is soft-spoken and kind; she always gives money to those begging even if she has little to spare. A dreamer, Elodie spends far too much time in her own little world filled with music and songs that are inspired by the people and the feelings around her. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and can be shockingly honest when people least expect it from her. A bookworm with an odd, quirky soul, Elodie just enjoys being herself, even if others might find her strange, or even embarrassing to be around. She’s ambitious, and determined, despite how many times people have put her down or knocked her back. Elodie just isn’t the kind to give up. Despite her sweet nature, she does have a backbone, and the ability to be fierce should the time arise. She won’t be pushed around, or tolerate anyone else being bullied either. She doesn’t care what people say to her for her, because she’s confident in herself, but she’ll stand up for those around her. She might look a little out of place and disorientated at times, but that shouldn’t fool anyone; she is capable of looking and acting like she could run the world – she just has no lasting desire to. Elodie, is a true romantic who would love nothing more than for Prince Charming to come along and sweep her off her feet. She’s had past relationships, but nothing that has lasted very long because many become disinterested when they realise that the first impression is the lasting one, too. Elodie doesn’t pretend to be someone else. She is a daydreamer, a music lover, and someone who believes in the great impossible. She’ll be an optimistic until the very day she dies but before then she would very much like – and hopes – that she’ll find the right man to share her days and dreams with.MOTHER: Adelise Madalene Girard, deceased..

HISTORY: Theron met Adelise rather late in his youth. His friends had already met their wives and husbands, settled down and began to live their happily ever afters before the shy, yet handsome, literature professor fell in love. Adelise was a florist, a wonderful beauty who moved to Paris from the south of France to break free of her parents constant advice and opinions. She was five years his junior, but he was constantly coming to her small flower shop to buy little bouquets he didn’t need for his office just so he might see her. Finally, he drew up the nerve to ask her out, and while coffee might not have been the most romantic of first dates, he still gifted her with paper roses he made from old books, promising her that he would find her the most beautiful woman until the day his flowers died. They married in a truly beautiful ceremony, and began their cosy life in Paris together. Two years later, Adelise told Theron with great joy that she was expecting their first child.
Elodie was the most precious thing in both of their lives, and they doted on her like nothing else. She was the daughter to begin what they hoped would be a beautiful family. Alas, it was not to be. Adelise grew sick, and though she tried to fight it off and downplay her sickness, it was the start of something very serious. Doctors had little hope for her getting better, despite Theron’s desperate hope. By the time Elodie turned two, Adelise was almost gone from the world. No one who knew her could believe she had developed kidney disease at such a young age, but it happened, and Adelise died while awaiting a transplant. Elodie was only two and a half.
Theron moved out of the family home and took his daughter to a smaller cottage on the outskirts on the outskirts of Paris. He couldn’t stay in a place that was haunted with so many memories of the woman he had loved. He never married again, and from the moment Adelise passed, Theron’s whole life became about Elodie. He wanted her to have everything she ever dreamed of, and grow up to have all the things he and Adelise always spoke about her having. She could sit on his knee and listen to him read for hours, which was where her love of literature was born from.
Elodie developed her own love though, and it was music. She was told that she was humming as soon as she was talking. As she got older it was instruments. Theron had a piano brought in when she was three for her to begin practicing with. A few years later she tugged on his jumper for a violin and a little while later she asked for a cello. Every time Theron gave in. His little girl was a talented musician, and she used to talk about seeing the music in the world around her. When she was a teenager she began composing her own pieces, working to put down what was in her head. She found music in everything; a dramatic moment with friends, or a simple walk in the park.
A lot of people didn’t understand her. She was such a dreamer who could waltz off mid-conversation because inspiration had hit. Her dad encouraged her to be herself, and to never come down from the dreamland she walked in because it was only there that she would find true happiness. She felt like she didn’t need to follow trends, to listen to what the other kids her age were saying because she believed in what Theron told her with all of her heart.
Elodie went to university in Paris, staying at home on the weekends to help her father at home. He was her best friend. She was happy in his company, and enjoyed helping him re-organise the library at home, or cook dinner with him. It was only after graduation, when she was looking for a flat in the heart of Paris that Theron told her to do something crazy and leave France entirely. He explained that her dreams were outside of their home, somewhere she could turn on its head, in a place that might be ready for a girl like her; a dreamwalker who saw music in everything. He gave her a portion of his own savings and then later watched as she boarded a plane to New York City.
It’s been a little less than a year, and Elodie has an apartment that reminds her of home, and a job that her mother would be proud of. She wishes she could remember more of Adelise, but she hopes working at The Flower Pot will help her find a connection she’s always felt was missing. Not giving up on her dreams, Elodie works hard as a composer and lyricist, putting so much of her free time into pushing herself forward and trying to get her music out there. She’s not one to let go of her soul and who she is.
