PERSONALITY: Booker is a down to earth kind of guy. He’s level-headed, and comes across as quiet, but not shy. He’s just spent his life mostly surrounded by older, louder cousins. Typically, he likes to be organised and have planned most things out; like a carefully choreographed dance. He’s a good guy, with the best intentions at heart. He wants to make his parents proud, and be a son they can happily boast about, despite not choosing the academic career like they hoped for. He’s selfless, and will do his best to help everyone he meets, even if it means sacrificing something that might matter to him most of all. Booker comes from a wealthy family, and it shows, but he doesn’t mean to flaunt it. He just doesn’t feel shame for what he has or what he can do. He’ll gladly pay for others to join his ventures if they can’t afford it, but he’s not the type to shove it in people’s faces, or be walked all over either. When he’s mad, Booker quietly seethes, and will do his damn best not to dump his issues all over everyone or explode. He has seen that accomplishes nothing. He considers himself too young for serious romance, and has only dabbled in love before now, although he has recently found out how troublesome that can be. Still, Booker can flirt with the best of them, but he’s honestly not looking for that lifelong commitment at nineteen. He’s not his parents, and the thought of it all just terrifies him considerably.MOTHER: Myra Hanley Garvin, 40.

HISTORY: Dennis and Myra were a couple who were crazy about each other. They had been together since they were teenagers, and they married young with the full support of both their families. They had been close friends anyway for a long time and seeing the two young people married was a joyous occasion. They had dreams of a large family, but Myra struggled through a very rough nine months with their first – and ultimately – only child. Booker was their whole world from the very second Myra and Dennis set their eyes on him.
They were good parents, putting Booker first every single time. It wasn't easy for strangers looking in to believe, especially since Dennis was studying and climbing the ranks in a financial business his family had a foothold in for most of Booker’s childhood. Myra was often out with her in-laws who lived locally, but when she wasn't doing that she kept herself busy as an event planner after college. Booker was doted on by his parents, even though he was tended to by nannies when he was too young to be left alone when both of his parents were absent. He also spent a lot of time with his Aunt and Uncle who lived in Syracuse. They had a daughter who was somewhat older than Booker, but Puck still let him hang out in her space and gave him books and games to play with. It kept him busy, and he much preferred that to the banshee cackling and screams that echoed everywhere when all of his cousins were together.
Booker accidentally fell into dance. Over the summer when his cousins had signed up for a two week workshop he had been forgotten briefly, and it was only at drop off that it was realised that there was no one to look after him. The adults had plans for the time when the kids and pre-teens were dancing, and it was easier to sign Booker to the classes than cancel and reschedule their adult time. Booker was the baby, so there wasn’t a chance in hell of him being left home alone. He was surprised when he enjoyed it, and even more surprised when he discovered he could be good at it. Once the workshop was complete, he continued at the dance school that had put on the event, studying a whole range of dance there. It might have been different for a boy, but Booker had never been into sports, and his parents were happy he had a hobby. They thought it normal given their family and how Booker was completely outnumbered and surrounded by his female, and very feminine cousins. Only Aloy was the adventurous type, and she hardly had the patience to tolerate showing Booker how to climb trees or scale fences, something they were actually thankful for.
Booker was happy as a teenager. He enjoyed his dancing, and oddly didn’t get teased too much for it. He supposed it was because he was good looking, and had a decent circle of popular friends. He had a brief fling in his senior year with a girl named Justine Demis. She was a wild child, no plans for her future, and not really the type Booker saw himself staying with. It was a short lived thing, something wild before he focused on his future and moved to New York City the summer before college. Alas, Justine was pregnant. She was going to give the baby up for adoption once he was born, but Booker talked her into just giving him the baby instead. She wasn’t the type of person who would cross paths with his family, and he didn’t tell his parents, unsure of how that might go, and how he might let them down. He was mixed up with his cousins again, and lived in the same building as Puck. After Justine gave birth to a son, told Booker he was his responsibility and then headed out west with some small time band hoping to make it big, Booker turned to Puck and confided in the cousin he trusted the most. She was settled in her life, and she could babysit and help out from time to time when he needed to go to class or visit his parents. Booker basically didn’t know how he would cope without her, and was so grateful to have her nearby.
He’s finding it tough having Asher around, balancing college and lying to his parents and the rest of his family. He knows it isn’t fair making Puck cover and lie with him, but he’s so scared of what will happen when the truth comes out about his son. All he can do is focus on his dancing, and how that will be his future, and how he needs to show his son that everything is going to be good, even if it’s just the two of them.
