FEARS: spiders, being mugged, genuinely fears returning to Portland.
SECRETS: Tamsin tells people her parents aren't around, insinuating that her parents are dead. And she only admits to having one brother but they're not close. It's just easier to say that then it is to explain the life she'd had back in Portland.
PERSONALITY: Tamsin has always been a leader, never a follower. She'd been stubborn from the day she was born, which was two weeks late because no one could tell Tamsin what to do or when to arrive. Always fashionably late to everything she does, Tamsin as least has a mesmerizing smile to lighten the mood. She's a smart girl who comes from a family that can't understand her. She had always felt alien, the thing that didn't belong and associated strongly with Matilda, minus the magical abilities the other girl had, though Tams wished she had as well. Clever almost beyond measure, Tams set her sights on doing something good for the world and hasn't looked back since! She's a strong willed woman with an open mind but a sealed heart. Her family broke hers long before any man could and it's been a hard road back to trusting people, even though they've not done anything to show her they're untrustworthy. Surprisingly, she's not at all a cynic, instead she's quite a hyperactive fool, preferring to dance around her lab than sit on a stool and drone on through her work. She may not be the gothic girl portrayed on a well known television show that she might have seen once or twice but she has been told she reminds people of her all the same. Must be all part of that quirky personality. The truth to Tamsin is that she's a very hard sell when it comes to romance or love in general. She was too different from her family to, was too much of an outsider because she didn't like football but definitely loved reading, maths and sciences for them to appreciate so she's a little skeptic about people showing her affection. As surprising as it may seem, with how messed up her background is, Tamsin is a loyal friend, probably better than most because of her home life. She's a sweet girl with a bit of a rocky past, looking (but not) for the love she'd never known before.MOTHER: June Thwaites & 65.

HISTORY: Karl and June met at a bar of all places. After a few drinks June decided she wanted to see what the inside of Karl's truck looked like and the rest was history. A construction worker and an office assistant, they lived comfortably, taking care of their three children. Two boys and a girl, Tamsin being the youngest. Matthew and Brandon were your average "All-American Boys" minus the blonde hair and blue eyes. But they were both fit, they both played football, baseball and basketball for the school, they were popular and they were constantly out to parties. Tamsin had dark eyes and darker hair, she had a bright mind and a clever outlook. She enjoyed reading and wasn't all that fond of her brother's games. She knew the rules, went to the games but they barely kept up their grades enough to stay on their various teams while Tamsin had never known what it was like to not be on the Honour Roll. Tams was smart, ridiculously smart and her parents didn't know what to make of her. Instead of encouraging their daughter to find her calling and explore the sciences, they just sort of gave up on her.
She had never felt like she was part of the family and they treated like she was some sort of alien form though they all knew Tamsin did indeed belong to Karl and June. For Tams it was a bit of a nightmare. She was just as popular in her own circles as her brother's were but that didn't matter because there were no trophies or awards that would impress their friends, though Tamsin had plenty of awards, trophies for the science fairs and certificates of achievements scattered all over her room. It wasn't the same so it wasn't rewarded. Her brothers, bless them, they tried but Tamsin was on a whole other level and they didn't have any common ground except the parties they all attended. Because Tamsin had her friends, she grew up without much heartache, though she guards herself a hell of a lot more than if she'd grown up in a healthy environment. She made it work and when she was out at those parties, people forgot she was supposed to be one of the "geeks". At those parties she was just another girl, drinking, dancing and flirting along with the rest of them, though she had two guards making sure she didn't make the wrong choices.
Matthew sadly peaked in high school, thinking a scholarship would get him into the NFL. It didn't and he ended up right there beside his father shortly after he graduated high school. Just another construction worker. Brandon was a bit better, he'd at least, gotten a basketball scholarship and took it, deciding to actually do something with his life, believing he wouldn't see the NBA once his four years were up. He was right and thankfully, had taken Tamsin's suggestions. He became a personal trainer and physiotherapist in Portland, having returned to their hometown when he was finished and didn't have much in the way of offers for the NBA. Tamsin on the other hand, received all sorts of scholarship and bursaries so she could attend Brown University on a full ride. She was too smart to be stuck in her dreary hometown, even if the city boasted some of the better comic convention stops. She took the full ride and never looked back. Rhode Island was just a stop for the brunette and after she walked across that stage four years later, the only one of her family that was there, was Brandon.
They still didn't understand each other but they were closer than they had been growing up. Brandon at least wanted to see his baby sister succeed in life. Everything it seemed, happened so fast from there, she was graduated and the very next day, a moving van was full of her things and she was heading off to a ridiculously small apartment in New York to finish up her papers to get her masters and PhD. She wanted to do some good in the world and she thought being a part of a team that created cutting edge medical equipment might just be the way to do it. And so her determination to became one of the best medical engineers out there was born. Fast forward through plenty of years, plenty of dates, only half of which ending remotely well, and more night's out with the girls than anyone should actually keep track of, Tamsin is still going strong on the engineering front, having her named attached to some of the biggest projects in the world, not just the country. She was one of the best at what she does and at twenty nine, she's only just getting started.
