PERSONALITY: Aria doesn't consider herself a liar but she really is one. She lies her to friends about her parents, she lies to her parents about everything going on in her life and she lies to herself about lying to everyone else. Its quite exhausting but she'll keep it up until something shatters her lies. Underneath all of that though she does try to be as honest as possible. She's a very sweet young girl with lots of potential. When she first arrived in New York she was a bit naïve and she is still embarrassed by that years later, thinking she will never live it down. No one remembers of course, but she does and so she thinks everyone who looks at her knows how foolish she had been at sixteen. She has an unusual obsessive personality. She doesn't get obsessed with material things but her actions keep her up at night frequently. So far in her young life, she hasn't experienced the tow curling romance she thinks she wants. Of course, she hasn't experienced any sort of romance but she thinks she wants to be swept off her feet. What she knows for certain is that she doesn't want what her parents have. That's too tame, too innocent. She doesn't know much about life but she does know she wants rough and tumble, she wants tattoos and possessive personalities. The white picket fence, porch swing and church four times a week isn't for her, she wants something so much more from life. And she is definitely not afraid to demand it.MOTHER: Monica Murphy & forty nine.

HISTORY: Aria was born after nearly ten years of Monica and Derek trying for a child. Doctor's told them it would be unlikely so when Monica fell pregnant they considered it a sign from God. When she was born healthy, then they started thinking of all names she could possibly have. They had up to three months to name her but in the end, it took them a little less than their hospital stay. Aria had jumped out at Monica and instantly she felt it was perfect for her sweet little baby girl. The middle name took a lot longer than her first to pick out. But Aria Dorothea Murphy was carried out of the hospital a little over a week after her birth. The household was almost cult like in it's belief in religion and Aria wasn't allowed to have any other opinions on the matter. She was homeschooled but she was allowed to play soccer with the city league. She had to attend all church functions but she was also allowed to have a part time job and socialise with her co-workers. Her parents were a strange but loving pair.
The young brunette never felt unloved in her household but she did feel a little suffocated by all the Praise Jesus, God is our Saviour bullshit. She was old enough to have developed her own opinions and she wasn't nearly as invested as her parents were. And she was never given a real reason for why they were that way; just that they were. Aria habitually let it slide because it was always a fight and she wasn't interested in hearing the soundbite once again. Thanks to being homeschooled though, she was finished school just a few weeks shy of her sixteenth birthday and had already started applying to colleges and universities. Aria wanted to get out and explore the world. When the first letters started coming in, it really finalised it all for the family. Monica and Derek would be losing their only little girl to a school that wasn't close by. They all knew it but Derek talked Monica into letting her go. They needed to let her spread her wings and she picked NYU out of a hat. Literally, she couldn't decide so she put all the names of the schools she'd been accepted into a hat and picked one out at random. She couldn't go wrong with any choice but it just so happened to be New York that was chosen.
New York was crazy and exciting but it wasn't for her parents, who had considered for a second or two, moving to the big apple. But letting her go alone was the best choice and so they returned to Georgia. Visits were few and far between and they all saw Aria returning to Georgia. Her parents didn't like the big city, decided Georgia was their best bet and let Aria make the trip and once she found a job to occupy the spare time she had, those trips became even less frequent. Plus, she was really finally able to spread her wings and really figure out who the hell she was. As it turned out, she liked to swear, a lot and she liked to have a few drinks around her dorm room with her friends. They were all a little worried about her of course because she was only sixteen when she arrived at NYU but her age was soon forgotten. Boys were a little different because she was so young when she got to the city but there was a lot of flirting, even if nothing ever really went further than that. And then she turned eighteen and even that changed. She had a boyfriend but hell, she wanted to have fun and explore her options, do something exciting and stupid. A date had suggested going out somewhere and though she was still very much underage, she managed to get into the club he'd taken her to and fell in love with the whole place.
Unfortunately, the owner found out her dirty little secret. Aria was practically dragged away from the table and brought up to the office, though Aria hadn't exactly known what the other woman would do. Instead of calling the police like Aria had thought she would, the other woman just sat behind her large and intimidating desk and they spoke about life and what Aria expected out of hers. And instead of kicking her out on her ass, Iliza told her to come back in the light of day and they would talk again. She showed up the next morning like she'd been told to, shocked to see a dance rehearsal taking place. She hadn't really thought about how the women on the stage knew what they were doing, actual rehearsals hadn't even come to mind. But there they were. Iliza took a few minutes to talk to Aria again before telling her to hop up there and try her hand at it. As it turned out, Aria loved being up there, dancing and having a good laugh with the other women. Iliza had seen something in her and felt like she could really become something. Aria didn't want to disappoint her and in the year since then, she hadn't. Her life became very busy but Aria thrived and now that she's had such a busy life for that year, she's finally starting to feel like she can add more plates to her spinning act. She only hopes she doesn't drop any!
