PERSONALITY: Hendrix is a passionate musician and teacher, but is also a very calm guy. He’s not the type to easily lose his head when everyone else might be. He’s somewhat sporty, enjoying BMX biking in his downtime, and hockey. He’s patient, and friendly with a warm heart. Hendrix is a giving and charitable guy; he understands what it’s like to be struggling and in need. His biggest problem is that he can be a little closed off, and often tries to shoulder all of his problems himself, despite having people around him who can help, and who are willing to help. He’s stubborn, and independent like that, and his upbringing is mostly responsible for that attitude. Hendrix is sensible and probably that responsible friend people have in their lives. Again, this is something his upbringing has done to him, but that’s not to say he’s serious all the time. Music is a big part of his life and it’s through concerts and bars with live bands that he finds his fun. He’s not the type to usually fight with his fists unless he feels physically threatened, but Hendrix does show his temper. It’s often through silence, but slamming things around, and that continues until he’s calmed down. He can be romantic, and he’s had some short lived relationships. Typically, they end when he refuses to talk about his past, or they mistake his separation from that as something darker than what it really is. When it comes to settling down though, he wants to be sure that the future will be better than the life he grew up in, both emotionally and financially. Stability means a lot to him, so he has no interest in casual flings or one night stands.MOTHER: Marie Sarah Attwood, 50.

HISTORY: Hendrix was the only child born to Marie and Gregson Attwood. The couple only married because Marie fell pregnant, and they hadn’t been together very long before that. Gregson was a lazy man who never held down a job for very long. He was a construction worker who took work only when he was forced to, and held it until bosses had enough of him coming in late and causing trouble. The rest of the time he sat on the couch, drinking and eating while he watched television and barked orders at his family about what he wanted from them. Marie worked as a cleaner and was usually exhausted by the time she came home and was done with her own housekeeping. She had little time for her son. Hendrix was often told to go outside and play, just to get out of the way of his parents. It could be freezing cold and they still wanted him out of the house where he couldn’t make any noise or get in their way. All Marie wanted was time to nap and catch up on the rest she felt she never had a chance for, and Gregson just didn’t want his son around. When he was older he felt no qualms in voicing his lack of desire to be a father, and how children stole the money they didn’t have.
Hendrix had a lot of second hand clothes, very few toys, and it wasn’t uncommon for him to feel hungry. They didn’t have much money, and Gregson squandered what little they did get in from when he did work. Hendrix enjoyed school and hated coming home. At the same time though, he had no friends at school, but teachers were kind to him. When he was twelve he started hanging out at a youth centre a few blocks away from their home, and it was there that he began to learn guitar. One of the volunteers there taught him, and it was then that music started to become such a big part of his life. He spent a lot of time there after school, working on mastering the guitar, and when he was old enough to have a part time job of his own, Hendrix saved up his money to buy a guitar of his own. Music offered him escape from that horrible home life, which got worse over the years. Gregson became nastier, and Marie just stopped caring so much.
Hendrix moved to New York when he was eighteen. He enrolled at NYU for college, where he studied music. He also began performing at open mic events, where he debuted his own songs and music. It was only two months after his college graduation when he signed a record deal. He also changed his name because he knew his parents and he didn’t want them following his moves and trying to trace him. He hadn’t been home or spoken to them once during his four years of college, and he knew they hadn’t cared about him during that time. He understood though that if he started making money they’d come knocking because that’s what they wanted; wealth without any of the work. So he changed his name legally and then began to work on his music. Hendrix only realised one semi-successful album and did a small tour before he decided that fame and fortune was not for him. He wanted to give back to people, to help and inspire in other ways. He realised that he wanted to teach instead.
It was through that that Hendrix ultimately ended up back at NYU, this time with an office and a class of his own. Before that he taught at a youth centre, and worked on his own qualifications, too, but then he found himself back in his own classrooms, giving lectures and talking with a knowledge he surprised himself with. This is what felt right. Plus, it gave him the chance to work with his students one on one, and take the time to adapt his classes to figure out what worked best.
