LEONARDO PHILLIPE OLIVIER
FULL NAME: Leonardo Phillipe Olivier
NICKNAMES: Leo
AGE: Twenty-four
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Student.
GRADE: Junior.
MAJOR: Classical Studies.
JOB OCCUPATION: Museum of Natural History Ticket Office.
HAIR: Brown, and he keeps it on the long side of short – depending on how long it’s been since his last hair appointment. It gets messy often, outgrown occasionally, and there are plenty of photographs where he regrets not making it to a barber sooner.
EYES: Brown.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: None.
TATTOOS: None.
PIERCINGS: None.
PLAY-BY: Brenton Thwaites!
LIKES: the library, oats – anything with oats, olives, green tea, the scent of peppermint, sky diving, being high up, mountain climbing, exploring new places, leatherbound books, the idea of falling, learning, orange juice, statues, late night walks, a classic movie, tennis, singing (even if it is offkey sometimes), winter (because it means they’ll go ‘home’).
DISLIKES: his mom using his full name, people who mistreat books, dust, coffee, sleeping because of his night terrors, taking pills, tap water, the feel of new jeans, sand, sandals, ignorance – there’s no excuse for it, an unfinished book, trance music, peanut butter, warm milk, crowds, formal occasions – though he does appreciate the traditions.
FEARS: his night terrors, being poisoned, great texts being lost.
SECRETS: He collects what might seem like junk, but every weird, seemingly junk like thing holds a dear memory for him. He has boxes and boxes full of odd knick knacks that would look like garbage if anyone else opened them.
PERSONALITY: Leo is an avid academic and learner. He’s a bookworm, and an explorer who has a curious mind. He has plenty of time for his studies since he’s an insomniac, plagued with night terrors since infancy. In a way he’s become fearful of sleeping. He’s something of an odd thinker on occasion, speaking before he’s fully thought through what he’s about to say, too. He’s an adventurer who will always try something new – within reason. He’s not one for breaking the rules, or upsetting law enforcement. He’s good, and always has been. Leo can be offended easily, and there are times when he’s quick to become emotional, but not in the way people might expect him to. He’s just a very passionate human being, and sometimes it becomes a little too much for everyone to handle. He’s not a particularly angry man, but given how his insomnia affects him, he is prone to being cranky and restless. Despite this, he’s friendly and loves meeting new people, though if he doesn’t take to them rather quickly he will make short work of cutting them out of his life; he doesn’t have the effort to half ass friendships or pretend to like people. He’s not much of an expert when it comes to romance. He’s dated a little bit, but he talks too much around girls he likes and often finds himself saying something to make them ditch him. He’s a traditional, but unconventional romantic, which may not make much sense, but it does to people who know Leo. He tends to mix and match the old and the new to make what he thinks should be a romantic atmosphere. It doesn’t always work.
MOTHER: Anora Lily Olivier, 55.
FATHER: Cameron Parker Olivier, 56.
SIBLINGS: Marco Alessandro Olivier, 27.
OTHERS: N/A.
PETS: Lord Byron, munchkin cat!
HOMETOWN: Venice, Italy.
HISTORY: Anora and Cameron met in America, when she was in college in California. It was a love at first sight kind of thing and they’ve never looked back. They moved to Venice to get married once she was finished with school, and it was there that they started their family. They had two sons, and for the first ten years they stayed in the beautiful city. After that they were forced to return to America when Cameron’s grandfather passed away. Cameron had been raised by his grandparents after his own parents died in a car accident when he was kid. He wanted to go back to look after his grandmother and Anora didn’t question it. She understood completely. Leo was only six when they moved stateside and it was bewildering for him to experience such a culture change when he was so young to understand it.
Cameron’s grandfather though, had a library of books, and since the family moved in to his grandparent’s house first before finding one of their own, Leo had plenty of time to look through them. He was too young for most of them, but he still liked how they felt, and his father read some of them to him. It started his love of reading, and opened doors in his curious mind. From that moment he wanted to read everything he got his hands on and know everything there was to know. He was young, and teachers often found themselves tiring with the amount of questions he asked in the classroom. Leo simply needed to know the secrets of the world and there was nothing that could stop him learning them it seemed.
Leo never changed. His brother, Marco, found sports, but all Leo was good at was tennis, which was something! However, while the brothers got on, they had little in common. It was a weird bond that they shared, but they were good. When they were old enough they jumped out of planes together and explored new places on family holidays. That was their brother time, but they didn’t need to be all pally pally all the time.
At eighteen, Leo went back to Italy for college. He studied history, and had a fantastic time there. It flew by though, and when it was over Leo wasn’t ready for it all to end. He wanted to continue learning, but not with a Masters or further education. He wound up going back to America and set out to get another degree to his name, this time going to NYC and choosing to study Classical Studies. Leo knew he would eventually work towards his PhD, but he wanted both history and classical studies as a minimum before he thought about that. If he could, Leo would spend the rest of his life just learning and discovering everything there was to know about the world.
A junior now, he works between classes when he’s not studying, and he’s still the weird, wonderful bookworm he always was! He’s not learnt anywhere near enough to satisfy his curious mind, but the world is a big place and he’s only seen a tiny part of it so far.
