PERSONALITY: A happy-go-lucky character, Cady is an oddball who loves life. She’s artistic and creative in the way she works not only with her camera, but also with her style. Bold and daring, she will try anything at least once, and is usually the first to sign people up for crazy things and fun runs, despite not being athletic herself. Quirky, she enjoys people who embrace their own differences and stand out from the crowd. Cady is honest and up-front with her feelings and thoughts; she’s not one to smile and lie through her teeth, but sometimes maybe she should learn to be a little less open. She’s an independent and hardworking young woman who is where she is today because of the ethics she was raised with. Cady loves to have fun and at times she can be the life and soul of the party, but sometimes people take that to mean that she can’t be serious about life. She’s not afraid to put someone in their place and her feisty attitude pays off well with sleazy guys in nightclubs. Beyond that though, she doesn’t really have much of a temper unless everything is coming down around her and she’s really feeling stressed beyond belief. As for romance, Cady isn’t afraid to get her flirt on. She’s up for some fun and games as any young, single lady might be, but she is prone to falling hard and fast for a guy who dates her. That can sometimes lead to heartbreak, but she’s quick to strap on her heels and a hot dress and get herself back out there – she’s young and she only needs to look out of her windows to see that there are plenty more fish in the sea!MOTHER: Venice Lorena Byers, 48.
FATHER: Harvey Lionel Byers, 51
SIBLINGS: Leo Wesley Byers, 22.
OTHERS: Arnold Peter Byers, deceased, paternal grandfather.

HOMETOWN: Red Rock, Oklahoma.
HISTORY: Harvey and Venice met at a music festival and bonded over their love for the open road. They travelled a great deal, which was easy when both of them were writers who didn’t need to be chained to a desk to meet their deadlines. Venice wrote about the music scene, and often travelled to find the hottest bands or hotspots that people raved about, and Harvey was a novelist who could submit his latest work from anywhere that had an internet connection. They lived in a camper van, which they upgraded once they got married and Venice announced her pregnancy. Some people might have expected them to settle down and find a house, but that just wasn’t them. They stopped in places along the way, rested up sometimes for a month or two before they moved along, but they didn’t like the idea of a house with the picket fence and neighbours. Acadia – or Cady as she was often known – was born during a long stay in Red Rock, Oklahoma; which was only as long as it was because Venice was approaching her due date and doctors wanted her near a hospital when the baby came, and then afterwards she was too tired to travel for a few weeks.
The same system repeated a year and a half later when Leo was born, only they were in Idaho that time. The children were home schooled mostly, since life on the road was a little wild for Cady and Leo to be put into school simply for a few weeks only to be pulled out again. Their grandfather, Arnold, helped them with that. He was a retired teacher who wanted to do something after the death of his wife. Helping his grandchildren and being a part of their life was perfect for him, and he enjoyed travelling with his family.
Cady grew up being true to herself. She was encouraged to be wild and free and embrace her own spirit. There was no pressure to follow the crowd or run with the trends. Her and Leo were both pushed to be their own individual selves, and so when they did hit a new location for a while she was baffled and put off by people who were caught up in the drama of being with the in crowd. She didn’t want to dress like them; she’d rather stand out and rock the boat a little. Of course, it was easy to do that when Leo was really the only friend she had. They had others who were kids of their parent’s friends who also lived out on the road, but their paths crossed once in a blue moon. Cady had her first kiss with one of them and fooled around with the same one a year later. Still, it was not the relationship most teenage girls dream about having. Phones and the internet meant they could all keep in touch, but it wasn’t like they could go to the mall at the weekend or rant and rave when they needed to. No, it was definitely a unique upbringing, but not one Cady would switch for all the world.
When she was eighteen, and all her schooling was complete thanks to her grandfather, Cady finally settled down for the first time in her life in New York City. She had an acceptance to college there where she was going to pursue photography. She had never been too academic growing up, but she had albums upon albums of photos, and an old camera that used to be her mom’s. It was one of the best around, even it was ten years out of fashion. Cady loved it, and kept it in top condition.
Her four years at college flew by. She probably alienated more people than she made friends, but that didn’t bother her. She would rather stay true to herself than bend to their whispers and beliefs. She wasn’t a sheep. Of course, she made mistakes and did some things she woke up the next morning regretting, but college was ultimately four fantastic years during which Cady discovered what she was without the camper and her family around her every single day.
It was shortly after her college graduation that her grandfather passed away suddenly after suffering a stroke. It broke Cady’s heart, along with the rest of the family. In his will he bequeathed his car to Leo, but to Cady he left the boat on which he had been living after he was done teaching Cady and Leo. She found a place in a Brooklyn marina for it and had it moved there from New Jersey. She got rid of her apartment and moved onto the boat, fixing up what she needed to before settling in for good. It gave her the feeling of her childhood back, and it was quirky enough to fit in with what she needed. She had a job at a fashion magazine, but it wasn’t for her and after several months she handed in her notice. After that she bulked up her portfolio with some freelance work and online assignments for various places before she impressed Duncan Metalia and joined him when he launched The Double LL. Cady took care of photographs for the magazine, be them polished and professional, or dopey looking selfies to spam all over the blog showing them having a good time in a bar or playing laser tag. He was young, but she had talent and determination.
Now, she rocks out at The Double LL, usually fighting for control over the music when she’s in the office – bringing Prince with her most days, and making sure they have a brilliant selection of photographs for every publication!
