PERSONALITY: Eirwyn is a laidback kind of guy for someone who spent his whole life knowing he wanted to work for the FBI. He enjoys kicking back, which can be difficult with his career, but he makes it work. He’s a classic kind of guy in terms of what he likes and his tastes, and that probably won’t change. He tends to frown when people mess or alter something he thinks was good in the first place. Well-mannered and patient, it takes a lot to really grate on his nerves and make him mad, but Eirwyn does have a very strong caring and protective side. He might not say much, in fact he can be quieter than most people out there, but he’s a friendly guy even if his job does make him wary of some people and a lot of situations. He’s passionate and strong, but the romance in his life has fizzled out in recent years and he’s seeing that much more clearly now, which is a huge problem. He wants a lot from his love life, including adventure and a lack of that now may cause him to act irrationally or impulsively, because when it comes to feelings he tends to follow his heart and ignore the logic his training instructs him to stick to.MOTHER: Rosie Marie Shelton, 62.

HISTORY: Rosie and Steven knew each other from local hangouts when they were growing up, but they didn’t start dating until one night when Rosie’s bad date upset her enough for Steven to step in and play the hero. He dried her tears and took her home and the next time she saw him she went over to thank him for everything and he told her how she could do so much better than that jerk, and she asked him if he was suggesting himself. After a moment of flustered words he somehow asked her out and that was that. They married a few years later and began their family with three beautiful daughters before Rosie finally gave birth to a son; Eirwyn. Coincidentally he was also their last child and suffered at the hands of his sisters who wanted to dress him up like he was their personal doll for the first five years of his life.
Eirwyn went along with it for the most part, just because he was often outnumbered. Steven worked long hours and it wasn’t easy for a little boy to assert any kind of authority. Still, they had their father son moments with football games and when Eirwyn grew older there were bars, talks about the girls he liked, and learning life tips from his old man. They were close and Eirwyn grew to understand the concept of hard work from his dad. It was Steven who also taught him the art of wood carving, though it became more of a hobby for Eirwyn and he never had the level of artistic talent his dad did for the seriously detailed models and intricate designs.
He always knew he wanted to be in the FBI, ever since he was a little boy and saw a movie on television. It was a movie he wasn’t supposed to be watching, but Rhian had left the channel on when she went to chat to a boy at the front door when she was babysitting and Eirwyn had been distracted from his toys by the dramatic scenes. As he got older he was smart enough to realise that real life agents were nothing like the ones on television shows and movies, but that didn’t deter him from wanting to have a badge and be just like them. He found out as much as he could and worked hard where it was necessary to make it to the academy at Quantico.
It was at college that he met Fi. She was an art major when he was studying computer science and criminology. They dated for two years before breaking up and they were the greatest two years of his life. Fi was a whirlwind of passion and excitement, just what he wanted in a lover. They broke up when he graduated and was accepted into the FBI academy. She didn’t want to commit to a long distance relationship and though he tried to convince her otherwise he wasn’t going to hold her back from what she wanted in her life. He also wasn’t going to turn his back on his dreams. So, he picked up his broken heart and went through his training with extra determination, knowing it paid off when he was holding his badge at graduation.
For a couple of years Eirwyn worked with the FBI’s cyber division. He worked on some of the harshest cybercrimes, helping to track and trace those thought they were safe from the government if they hid behind a computer screen. He covered a variety of crimes and cases during his time working in cyber. It was by chance that his paths crossed with Fi again. She travelled a lot with her art and he happened across her when he was grabbing a coffee one morning. Their whirlwind romance resumed and determined not to let her go again, he proposed a few months later. Eirwyn hadn’t met another woman who made him feel the way Fi did. He didn’t want to lose that. They married and he relocated to the New York branch office to be closer to her. Moving cost him though. There was less of a call for cyber there since they had a pretty full team and while he had done some substantial work and impressed some people, it wasn’t enough to bump someone else out of a position. They had an asset relocating to the city though who they thought might benefit from a handler who was familiar with the world of IT. Eirwyn agreed and went through further training to take on the new challenge. And that was how he met Jericho.
Since then he was her handler and that was a full time job even more that cyber division was. Eirwyn didn’t mind it though. Fi was often travelling still with her art and over time they began to drift. The passion would flare up when she came home, but then it would wane as she focused on her work and ignored him for exhibitions and gallery shows. Then she’d go on the road again, and the cycle would repeat. A few years later they were married for the sake of it and Eirwyn was quickly realising how much he was preferring it when she was gone. It wasn’t what he wanted, but Fi was never one to sit down and talk when he wanted her to. He wanted so much more from their marriage and it simply wasn’t there. So, he didn’t mind tagging along more with Jeri, indulging her when she had DJ sets that ran late, or wanted to go out and stay out until the sun came up. He’s actually preferring her company – or anyone’s – to an empty apartment or Fi’s oblivious nature.
