DISLIKES: Bullies, rude sceptics, disloyalty and betrayal, running late, being so clumsy, parlour games, broken bulbs, thunderstorms, boredom, mustard, cold fingers, peanuts, formal dress, ear infections, missed calls, feeling tired, microwave meals that taste like plastic, reality television, frauds, team sports, movie remakes.
FEARS: open waters, worms, morgues.
SECRETS: His mother and his grandmother worked as psychic mediums both on a circus trail and out of a small shop in downtown Chicago. They claim it’s a family gift and Fox himself dabbles in tarot reading and knows a bit from what they did, but he keeps it hush hush.
PERSONALITY: Fox is a smart and open minded man because that was simply how he was raised. He doesn’t force his beliefs on others, and if he’s honest he doesn’t want to sit around and listen or debate opinions with others. In his mind it never amounts to anything. He’s a clumsy guy, who sort of makes it through life in a sort of haphazard manner despite his intelligence. He’s spontaneous and considers himself to be a pretty laidback and fun guy, though there is a side to him that is rather immature. Fox likes that though, and thinks of himself as being self-aware of his flaws and areas of his personality where he could do with growing. It may never happen, or it may happen too late for some things, but he knows he’s not perfect, though he may play the joker and claim he is once he’s had a few drinks in the company of friends. He considers loyalty one of the most important traits a person can have, and keeps his friends close for that reason. He’s not about to stab someone in the back or listen to gossip when they’re not around. He’s not that guy. He’ll defend his friend to the end so long as they don’t betray him. He’ll throw a punch for them, take a punch for them and everything in between unless they give him a reason to walk away. He’s a bit hopeless in love, always trying and failing at it. It’s like cupid aims for him at the wrong time. There’s always something there that makes him unready for that relationship, but he’s a smooth flirt and Fox is very intuitive about people (something he refuses to acknowledge as the family gift regardless of what his mother and grandmother say).MOTHER: Celina Grace Harrison, 52.
FATHER: Jack Samuel Harrison, deceased.
SIBLINGS: Jet Elijah Harrison, 24.
OTHERS: Anna-Marie Leslie Bishop, maternal grandmother, 73.
PETS: Greta, dachshund of two !
HOMETOWN: Chicago, Illinois.
HISTORY: Celina an Jack met when she read his palm at one night in a local bar. She was new at the psychic events, but her mother was a seasoned pro and she was following in her footsteps, using the family gift to make some money. Jack had paid his money because he thought she was pretty, not because he was a believer, but in the five minutes she held his hand she also captured his heart and changed his view on things. She promised to meet him for a drink when she was finished and after that it was the start of a short lived happily ever after. They got married, promised each other a lifetime of happiness and soon Celina was pregnant with twins. She gave birth to two healthy little boys, and Anna-Marie foresaw lives of promise for both of them, but she would never comment on her son-in-law, other than to say he needed to make the most of every moment.
Fox and Jet were close as little kids. They were best friends and worst enemies when they wanted to be, but they were brothers through and through. Everyone was happy. The boys did well settling into school, gave their parents no real reason to worry, and they were another quaint family. Celina put her gift to use to earn her money, working gigs with Anna-Marie when they came around. They made quite a name for themselves locally and they had regular customers who were believers and who came to them regularly for advice or to try to speak to the other side.
The boys were ten when Jack was killed in a boating accident. He had liked to go on fishing trips with friends when he wasn’t working, and this specific time something went wrong and Jack went under. The final report into his death concluded that he had been knocked unconscious by the equipment on board which was how he had drowned. Ever since then, Fox could not be near open water without feeling this overwhelming panic though, and their lives were changed forever with the lack of a father figure.
Jet became the rebellious type, but Fox was more loyal to his mother and grandmother. Jet called everything they did a con and a joke and refused to have anything to do with it. Fox, however, kept an open mind. He had always been an intuitive kid and while he wasn’t going to scream that he was gifted like the maternal line of his family, he also wasn’t going to run around and say it was impossible to be like them either. People came to his mother and grandmother for a reason and it brought them comfort or closure and it made people happy. He didn’t see why Jet had such a huge problem with it and everything else that existed in the world. He was angry at everything and whenever Fox tried to help his brother he was blocked out and pushed away. He wanted to be close to Jet again, back like they used to be when they were kids, but Jet wouldn’t let Fox in again.
The teenage years were mostly uneventful. High school was high school. Fox had friends, he crossed off a load of firsts like most of the kids in his class and his spent a hell of a lot of time apologising for Jet. He was still angry at everything, struggled quite a lot, and Fox felt like he needed to clean up after his brother because that was the kind of guy he was. Plus, Fox was his brother. He knew he needed to look out for himself and to plan for his own future, but Fox didn’t know what he wanted to do at first. In the end he graduated high school and took a job at a car dealership for a few years until he got his ideas figured out.
The whole time he was working he was looking at college, at courses and at what he wanted to do with his life. Eventually he found Radiology and NYU. He didn’t know what it was but something just seemed to call to him. He enrolled and switched one big city for another. He felt like he ought to have done more for his brother, but Jet was not one to be babysat and Fox couldn’t give his life up to look after his twin. Three years on and Fox loves the city, has a job at WD-50 and is generally making things work for him. There’s still a rough area with his brother, but Fox will not give up on him or rebuilding that relationship.
