It was a Saturday, pretty early in the morning for Savannah. Well, seven in the morning, that is. Normally she slept in on the weekends, but today her friend Cash was coming over today. She had invited him over a few days ago, and she was kind of excited. She really liked Cash, but he was a little on the quiet side. She hoped that after today he would start talking a little more. She hoped that he would open up a little more. So, she was up early this morning to clean up around her house. She also wanted to groom Lance before Cash came over. It was something Savannah did everyday, though, so it wasn't really a chore. Lance had a long mane, and it required a lot of attention. Plus, she felt that they were able to bond over his grooming session.
So, she cleaned up Lance first, then she cleaned up around her house before throwing together a black bean and cheese enchilada dish, tossing it in the oven before going to shower and change into some clean clothes. Once that was all done, she took the dish out of the oven, placing it on the counter to cool. Savannah's house was unique to say the least. She had bought an old barn and fixed it up to be fit to live in. The entire bottom of the barn was a garage/horse stable. Savannah's truck was parked in there, and then Lance had about half of the bottom to himself. The upstairs was about the size of a one bedroom apartment, which was perfect for Savannah. When you walked up the stairs, there was a kitchen and living room. It was an open concept place, which Savannah loved. In the living room was a nook where there was a day bed that Savannah never used but was there in case company came. Then there was a door near the back which lead to her bedroom. She had her stuff in there, and then there was another door inside of her room which was the bathroom.
So while it was small to some people, it was the perfect size for Savannah and Lance. And since she didn't have too many friends, it wasn't a problem having her friends over for dinner or lunch. While she waited for Cash to come over, she went back down the stairs, picking up the brush to brush Lance again.

Cash was accustomed to being awake early because he worked an early morning shift down at the animal shelter. It wasn’t a very long one, but he got there to start feeding the animals and checking on them before the others came in and took over. He usually headed off to class then if it was a weekday, or on the weekends if he wasn’t busy he would stay and volunteer longer to cover any staff holidays or to help out when they were at their busiest. Most people who wanted to rescue a pet came on the weekends since it was more convenient for everyone then. Today he was only doing what they needed of him since he had made plans with Savannah and he figured it would be rude to keep her waiting.
He wasn’t used to being around large animals like horses, and he wasn’t sure what he honestly thought of them. He had just been too shy to turn down her invitation or put it off for some other time. Plus, he liked animals, and he figured he would like this horse – Lance – as much as he liked the kind he was studying in college to look after. He took care to clean himself up after his time at the shelter, scrubbing his hands clean in the bathroom before he left the building and climbed into his truck.
Savannah had given him the directions to her home, and he had them resting now against the dashboard so he could glance at them while it was safe to as he drove along. Cash took his time since it was early and he didn’t want to be too early, but it was also a nice day and he enjoyed riding in his truck when he had the chance to. He only took one wrong turn along the way before he found himself looking at a place that matched the description Savannah had given him more than once, in conversation and when she was giving him the directions for today. He parked his truck up by the house and took a breath before he moved to the door and knocked loudly twice.
