PERSONALITY: Taylor was the typical girl next door for many years. She was always the friend, the average plain Jane who was always more likely to be up at 4am studying for a science final when her friend’s needed to call her with love problems. Tay was always caring and would listen to them and help them however she could, but she was also the kind of girl who if pushed, would push back. Her father was in the marines and most boys daren’t go near the smart and friendly girl out of fear of her dad and what he may do if his baby girl was being asked out by one of the local wasted youths. Taylor was daddy’s little girl but not in the sense that she was spoilt. No, her father made her work for what she wanted. However, she was the apple of his eye and he would do anything to keep her safe. That’s why, today, Taylor is very independent, strong and self-reliant. She’ll rarely ask people for help and she wants to achieve everything by herself. She’s a realist and very cautious when it comes to romance. She’ll often engage in short term relationships with the dangerous bad guys, only to break them off when she realises that there’s no future for them (and partly because she still has one guy on her mind). She’s the kind of girl who only wants to get married once and have it last. However, she’s not a housewife. She’s ambitious with dreams so far from what you might expect of her. She doesn’t talk about herself or her past much because she likes to keep her private life private out of fear that it may become gossip or people may use it to judge her, but she does enjoy a good social gathering at a bar, complete with drinking games and loud behaviour. She’s motivated and will go all the way to prove someone wrong if she thinks they are. Her stubbornness also plays a part in that and a part in her holding grudges from people she actually likes. She’s unpredictable at times and hates it when people assume that they know what she’s like before she’s even spoken to them. She can be loyal to her friends, but if you’re her enemy then she’ll kick you where it hurts to make a point.

HISTORY: Taylor was born at in Fort Lee, to Matthew and Frieda Becks. Her childhood was pretty average. She grew up in a nice neighbourhood and when her father was away, she baked with her mother and played with the other children in the street, often climbing trees and playing baseball in the back yard. When her father was home, it was family time and they often drove across the country to various camping grounds or vacation spots that Taylor loved almost as much as she loved her dad. She was definitely his princess and he showered her with love and presents, but only if she deserved them and had earned them.
As she grew up and became a teenager, Taylor was already turning into a beautiful young woman. She was confident and strong with a dedicated focus on her school work. Her father was protective though and any boy who came to the door normally got interrogated by the formidable Captain Matthew Becks, scaring them away from even remotely flirting with his daughter. There was one boy who he trusted though, the boy who lived next door, Damien Travis Walsh. Damien had played with Taylor since they were both infants and had practically grown up together, despite the three year age difference, and that was the boy who Matthew trusted with Taylor’s life.
The pair were good friends and Taylor often had to deal with him when he had his heart broken by girls as they grew older, even though they had the difference of age and she was so less experienced than he was. There were a lot of jokes about them getting together and being ‘soulmates’ amongst their individual friends, but Taylor shrugged it off, never feeling anything of the sort about Damien. He, kind of had feelings for her, but he was always very confused about what they actually were and the fact that she was three years younger had put him off acting upon them
She, on the other hand, craved the danger that he father kept her safe from. She was and still is attracted to the bad boys; the guys that she knows she should keep far away from. However, the fast bikes, the unpredictability and their rebellious attitude appealed to her wild streak. It was usually Damien who got her call to save her at a ridiculous hour though when she didn’t put out or accept the drugs they offered her. Taylor was a smart girl. She’d never touch drugs and she wouldn't sleep with them. She didn't realise it back then, but her true feelings for Damien stopped her each time.
Taylor wanted to be a doctor, and had dreamed of the career from a young age. She was smart enough to do it too, she just needed to make it through her education in one piece, which, in high school, is a hard enough task.
Taylor wasn’t a vain girl, and she didn’t care much about how she looked at times either, but she was growing into a beautiful girl. The girls in her school knew it and the guys knew it too. Damien kept his careful eye over Taylor though, making sure that nothing happened to her and if he heard any of the boys talking about her transformation in a degrading way, he stepped in every time. He wouldn't let anyone badmouth her, but he was leaving for college soon and she'd be on her own. The drama increased because of this and Taylor found harsh rumours being spread about her, all attempts to tarnish her good reputation.
With her father away, Taylor turned to Damien for help, one night breaking down in his arms.
She was eighteen and drove overnight to his dorm room at college where she cried her heart out to the twenty one year old for the first time ever. She had never been the kind of girl to cry and she had always been strong, but this night, things were very different. This night, she confided in him and told him everything and when she finished, he told her that he loved her. The words rolled off his tongue almost instantly and she was shocked as was he as her heart finally told her that she felt the same way and it had been him who had stopped her from being intimate with any other guy.
She kissed him and then, without a second thought or later regret, she slept with him. He was her first and it felt right and slightly ironic that the boy her father trusted to be around her was the one to take her virginity; the one thing her father had trusted him to protect.
Despite the events of that night, Taylor and Damien never dated afterwards. In fact, things were rather awkward between them for a while. They were both confused about what the other had meant, but neither wanted to bring it up out of fear that their hopes and hearts could be crushed. So, it was like the events of that night never happened, despite both of them reliving it in their minds and smiling each time.
Time passed, Taylor got over the hurtful rumours (maybe switched a few deodorant cans for pepper spray) and graduated from high school, ready to head to New York to study medicine. However, she left a day early for the city and that choice may have changed her life. Damien returned to Fort Lee that day, ready to confess his true feelings to her, but the moment her dad told him that she'd already left, he lost his bottle and decided to let Taylor live her life, convinced that she didn't feel the same about him.
The costs of a college education weren’t cheap and whilst her father was more than happy to pay for Taylor, she wanted to stand on her own two feet and so, took up modelling to help earn a bit more cash to ease the financial strain on her credit card. It was all tasteful and she never went topless or nude. She took the job to help ease the haunting scars of the rumours of high school. If she was as pretty as Damien told her that she had been, then to the jealous girls, seeing a picture of Taylor in a magazine would be the final blow and a point to Taylor. It was never a career choice for her though and once she graduated, she put her portfolio behind her.
Things were good. Her relationship with Damien grew distant, but only because of their busy schedules at college and being on opposite sides of the country. She longed to tell him her feelings, but was forever hearing tales from him about the girls in his classes and she kept reminding herself that it was all in her head; Damien just saw her as a friend.
At the end of her freshman year though, Taylor received some bad news.
Her mother hadn’t been well for some time and the doctors finally diagnosed her with Adult T-Cell Leukaemia; a highly aggressive disease that claimed Frieda’s life four months later. It also meant that Taylor had to undergo unpleasant testing for the rare virus believed to cause such an illness. Her results showed that she did carry the HTLV-1 virus, which meant that at any point later in her life there was the tiniest of chances she could contract a range of diseases related to the virus, or she could be one of the lucky ones, who escape with nothing. It was shattering news, because the transmission of the disease potentially ruled out chances of conceiving naturally, in case her partner or child became infected too.
Taylor continued with her life, took up writing to ease the heartache and the pain, broke the news to Damien who for a brief while, moved to New York to look after his old friend, but showed no ulterior motives to want to be with her romantically. She took it as a sign, but Damien just didn't want to take advantage of her heartbreak and grief.
It was a hard time, but she was strong, took it in her stride and continued to live her life, fighting for her dreams of becoming a doctor. Eventually, she got there, but surprised everyone with her choice of position; mortician. Taylor knew that she couldn’t cope with losing a patient and so went to the only place where she couldn't.
It was a position that she enjoyed and despite having to deal with people’s shocked reactions when she told them of her job, she stuck with it. Her connection to Damien was still thin though and monthly chats were all the two could manage now (possibly for the sake of their hearts which will still longing for the other) It was better than nothing, but Taylor really missed having him next door and even the weekly visits from her father weren’t enough to ease the pain of missing the old days. Whenever things get bad though, she has her pen and notepad and an endless imagination to help ease her pain.
Plus, Damien waits for the day she'll say that she needs him.
