It was four in the afternoon, and Miss Winters was on her way to her clients' work in order to tell them all abot the new drug her company was selling. Stella's days revolved around school and clients, which kept the tall blonde busy. She didn't mind being busy, though. She actually preferred being swamped with things to do. Keeping busy kept her mind off everything in her past, and it helped her feel productive enough to keep her anxiety at bay about her future. Stella put herself down too much, especially when it came to being a lawyer. She never thought she would be good enough for it, even though she never showed it. She had to stop herself from texting her sister about her feelings many times. Most of the time, she just talked to Nani, her old babysitter. Nani was the only person Stella felt loved her no matter what happened to her in life, and it comforted Stella enough to break down her high walls and let Nani in.
Once Stella finished with her last class of the day, she made her way to the New York hospital, making her way to the bathroom. In her over-sized bag, she had a change of clothes, and she changed into them. Her work made her wear tighter, more revealing clothes in order to get doctors to spend more money on their drugs. If she wasn't wearing something like that, she was yelled at and threatened with termination. Stella didn't mind it, though. She was the type of person to do just about anything to get ahead in life, and this was one way to do it. After she finished applying her thick, dark make up, she made her way to a surgeon she was going to talk to this evening. When the meeting was over, she had an hour before her next client meeting, so she went to the cafeteria for supper. She sent a text to a friend named Travis, and told him she was in the building and that they should catch up.
She picked up a chicken sandwich, salad, and a bottle of water before paying and going to find a table in the cafeteria dining area. She took a seat, crossing her legs while opening up her water bottle. She took a gulp from it, relieved to sit down for a few minutes.

Travis had been working longer than average hours lately but it really wasn’t his fault. A fellow cardiologist had gone on holiday and his hours were spread across everyone’s schedule. And since Travis was still technically speaking an intern, he got the brunt of the hours. It was fine, really. It gave him some extra money to put in the savings account and to spend on spoiling Coop who was the biggest pain in his ass that he’d ever met. But there was something about her and he just couldn’t get enough. He wasn’t the only one confused by what they had either. Everyone around them was baffled by their relationship or whatever they wanted to call it. He hadn’t exactly put a title to it yet and something told him having that conversation would lead to dancing in circles and Coop out with little Irish, drinking her sorrows away.
It was the same routine, one they’d fallen into rather quickly. Yet he still woke up in the mornings with her wrapped around him like a koala bear and grinned when she woke up, realised what she was doing and flung herself to the opposite side of the room as him and then asking what he was still doing in bed as though none of it had happened at all. It was cute, made him laugh and made him think he could get quite used to it. He already missed her on the mornings when she decided to stay at her own place or at Jay’s and not in his bed. This week had been killer like that. She wasn’t around as often and when she was, she was already asleep when he walked through the door or she was up and gone in the morning before he woke up without so much as a note.
He couldn’t wait until his schedule went back to a normal rhythm and he could be home at a fairly decent time. These double shifts were killing him; not that it really was something he wasn’t used to. It had only been recently that his shifts regulated themselves out to something approaching decent. He was coming out of a consult in the emergency room when his stomach growled. He needed food. A big meal he really didn’t have the time for but a muffin he could eat on the run. He headed for the cafeteria, intent on grabbing what he wanted and heading back to the floor. It wasn’t until he got to the line that he realised he forgot his phone on his desk in his office. He’d had it out to text Coop and must have left it sitting there. She’d said she was going out with Jay anyway so he doubted he’d get any more messages from her until she was looking for a bed to crawl into. Coffee and muffin in hand, Travis headed out to sit down, needing to rest his weary feet for two minutes.
