SECRETS: Ayren can’t sleep unless his bed is completely covered in pillows. It started when he’d still been small thanks to terrible pranks his sister used to play on him but it had been too late by the time he’d realised his sister’s stories were all lies.
PERSONALITY: Ayren wasn’t always the outspoken and outgoing man the people of New York saw. Once upon a time he’d been quite the scaredy cat, afraid of even his own shadow. But lucky for all, things change and Ayren became the life of the party. He enjoyed making people laugh, being comical and doing stupid stunts for the hell of it really. He loves a good party and drinks like his ancestors expected of him without over doing it. An alcoholic he does not want to be! His mother raised him to be a gentleman but he hardly lives up to those expectations. He’ll hold a door and pay for dinner on a date but if he’s not trying to impress you, he’s not being that overly nice guy. Like all men, he can be quite disgusting though like most men, he is excellent at hiding it from the fairer sex. As far as he’s aware, he’s not got a temper on him but then he’s rarely in situations he can’t laugh at. He’s quite a gossip, eating up the fake celebrity news like it was a breakfast cereal. He’s not gullible, he knows it’s fake and stupid to think it’s actually real but he looks at it like modern day fairy tales. Really deep down, Ayren is a sweetheart but he doesn’t like showing that side to a lot of people. Once everyone knows about it, he thinks he won’t be able to get away with some of the more vulgar things he says; people would expect too much from him.MOTHER: Ethel Preston & 54.

HOMETOWN: Killarney, Ireland.
HISTORY: Ayren was a terrified little boy growing up. He was scared of everything, including his own shadow. Eventually he did grow out of it but not before he’d gotten used to sleeping with his bed covered in pillows with him buried in among them. He’d been about twelve when he finally found himself not afraid of everything though there were a few things that still scared him, not that he would have ever admitted to them. His older sister didn’t help matters when he’d been young, telling him all sorts of tall tales, then sitting back and laughing at the chaos that was the mess her little brother made. He’d been close to not being able to leave the house. It wasn’t until his parents found out what Eileen had been doing that things started to settle and he eventually overcame it all.
His parents had met at a work function, they were in different departments and so hadn’t been aware of each other until this particular event. From there it was casual dinners which turned into something more serious that eventually led to their marriage and the birth of their two children, Eileen first, followed by Ayren some five years later. And ignoring the trauma of the oldest child’s manipulation of the youngest, life around the Preston household wasn’t that bad. Of course, Ayren hadn’t wanted to do much as a child and had to be forced into partaking in social activities, like everything else he eventually grew out of that and became a rather outgoing young man. They were a middle class family, they did well for themselves, kept a roof over their heads, food on the table. They took a single vacation every year as a family to somewhere different and it was during this time when Ayren was fourteen, Eileen nineteen, that they traveled to New York.
Ayren could see himself moving to the city when he was finished his schooling, or maybe to attend school, he honestly wasn’t sure but he knew New York was where he eventually wanted to end up. Though what he would do there was beyond him as he’d had no clue what he wanted to be when he grew up. It took him another couple years, when he was sixteen to realise what it was that he wanted. The school he attended had a radio station and they were looking to bring in some fresh voices. Ayren becoming the young man that he was thought it would be a good place for him to figure himself out and get a feel for his own voice. So he signed up and eventually after learning the ropes of the place, found himself on air, entertaining the masses. And as it turned out, he was quite good at it. He made people laugh and had them interested in the stupid school “celebrity” gossip. Sure, he’d landed himself in hot water but it was nothing they could really give him trouble for since he’d never, ever outright said things were true. And though he joked about his fellow classmates, he never actually said a bad thing about them.
The fact that people were listening gave him the courage he needed to take the next steps for his education. He applied to schools in New York as it was always in the back of his mind to return there. His dreams became a reality shortly after and he and his mum returned to the city to make sure Ayren had a nice apartment that was close to the school that he could afford on his own before she went back home, making sure her only son promised to return at the end of the school year to visit at least. Then she hopped on a plane and returned to Ireland whilst Ayren stayed and found himself a job at a flower shop to pay for the extra little things he might need. At twenty, Ayren just wants to finish school and find a radio station that wants him and his hyperactive personality.
