PERSONALITY: Colt had always been an animal lover but his family had high expectations for him and he felt pressured into following through with their plans for him. An intelligent man, he’d made it all the way through his first year of university before he’d grown a pair and told his parents what he wanted from them. He was a stubborn man who was going to follow through with his own plans, whether his parents approved or not but he’d still been worried they wouldn’t approve. In the end, they were as proud of him as he was of himself. He’d stood up to his parents, told them what he’d wanted from life and from then on, he was a much happier man. Colton is a very friendly person, able to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He is such a sweetheart that it really is difficult to dislike him, though people do try. He gets it really. He looks like he would be in a rock band or something, not taking care of people’s pets. But if everyone judged a book by it’s cover, the world would be an excruciatingly dull place to live. He’s a little cautious with his heart and opening himself up to love, especially after the disastrous relationship he’d had in college. But he’s such a charming man with a loving personality that he’s finding it difficult to be mad at the fairer sex because of one crazy bitch. He’s not so great at the romance, he can admit to that but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t try!MOTHER: Majorie Davies & 63.

HISTORY: Colton Hugh Davies came into this world two years before his baby sister, Nadine and he’s never let her forget it. They were always a close pair of siblings but they also teased each other constantly and pulled pranks on the other whenever the opportunity presented itself. They house growing up had been a mad house with their mother constantly yelling at them to settle down but that was life with two hyperactive, rambunctious children running around. His mother laughed it off even as she yelled at them while their father just shook his head and told them they needed to grow up. Of course, Majorie and James expected quite a bit from their children, even if they did allow them to be free spirits.
From a very young age, James expected Colton to follow in his footsteps and become a lawyer so he let him get away with the childish behaviour while he was still a child but the day after his thirteenth birthday, James had say Colton down to have that expectation talk. In all honesty, Colton had thought they’d be having a different conversation and was ridiculous relieved to not have to to go through that. Of course, that one came around three years later and six months too late but he never mentioned that. But the first talk had him working his ass off to stay a straight A student to keep his parents pleased. There was one thing he knew for certain, getting on his father’s bad side was something that just wasn’t done. He wasn’t the type to take no for an answer and refused a grade lower than an A from his kids.
Which was probably how Colton turned into the super academic that he’d become through those years. He’d had girlfriends and stayed out at friend’s houses, partying and the like but those were things his father never found out about. And if his mother knew, she never let on through those years. His sister covered for him well and he did the same when she wanted to go somewhere. He stuck close to home to attend Michigan like his father before him. Mostly so he could cover for Nadine when she wanted to go out. He lived off campus with some friends so telling their parents she was there for the night was an excuse they believed. It helped that the siblings were close. It was Nadine’s encouraging speech that had Colton confronting his parents.
Without his sister, Colton was pretty sure he would have become a lawyer like his father, probably a partner by thirty and expected to find a nice woman to settle down with and start a family with. The last two things, Colton wanted but not the first. He took pre-law for that first year and hated every single second of it but couldn’t back out. And then he sat his parents down and told them how much he hated law, how much he never wanted to go into law and how he had taken all those advanced placement science classes because he wanted to be a veterinarian. They took it a hell of a lot better than he’d thought they would. He’d thought they would disown him, yell at him, kick him out and pretend they never had a son. Instead his mother smiled, chuckled and said she’d bee waiting for him to tell them the truth. She’d told him that she’d known he wasn’t made out to be a lawyer, that he was too much like her, kind hearted to ever be a cutthroat like his father and that she would support him whatever his decision.
His father didn’t say much at all, just that he would support him and pay for him to finish school to become a vet and that he was proud that he stood up to their demands and threw them in his face. He added that he thought Majorie was wrong, that Colt would have made an excellent lawyer but that was all. Colt finished school exactly how he had wanted to and at the very top of his class, which pleased his parents. The only hiccup he’d had in switching majors had actually been with his girlfriend who had as it turned out, only been with him because she’d thought he’d go off to law school, graduate and become a big time lawyer who earned a ton of money that would keep her in designer digs for the rest of her life. It had been messy and terrible and Colt had wondered if she would exact some sort of revenge on him for following his heart.
After school, Colt worked in a vet’s office for a little while, saving up some more money so he could open a practice of his own. It took a little while but he had quite a bit saved when his parents surprised him with the rest of the money he needed to open shop. By then though, Nadine had moved away to New York thanks to a job opportunity and he missed his sister and their antics. So he moved to New York, opened up his veterinary clinic there and with the help of his sister, already an advertising genius, watched with a big grin as the clients rolled in. Quickly he added services to his clinic he hadn’t been sure he’d wanted to add, like a groomers for instance. But it turned out to be an excellent idea. Now four years later, Colt has exactly what he wanted from now his only problem is that he’s thirty and feeling rather lonely with no one to share his time and his life with.
