Sometimes even Winnie, one of the happiest people on the planet, had a rough day. She was taking eighteen credit hours this semester, and they all happened to be on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. She liked having Tuesdays and Thursdays to catch up on her own life, but sometimes going to class from eight in the morning until nine at night was draining. By Friday nights, Winnie was always beat. She knew she had work in the morning, but there was no way she could go to sleep without having at least a little break from life. Even if all she did was watch some movies on Netflix or sit and be alone by herself for a little bit.
Tonight, she decided she was going to catch up on a new season of Orange is the New Black. She wasn't sure why she loved the show so much, but there was something about it that made her feel like she just wanted to know where the story lines were going. Especially for Dianara and CO Bennett. There was something about the two of them that made her wish she had someone to fall in love with. Well, this season Bennett was being an asshole, but other than that, they had a cute story line going on.
She grabbed a bottle of Coke, a bag of chips, and a bag of miniature cookies out of the vending machine. She went over to a table in the back of the lounge area, setting things on the table in front of her. She placed her laptop on the table, setting it up, plugging her headphones into the computer. She opened up Netflix, finding the last episode she had watched. She opened her soda and her bag of chips, watching the drama go down on the show. It was so much better watching on screen drama than dealing with the drama in her own life. **************************************************************************

It was reaching the point where Chloe was starting to piss herself off. She was tired of feeling angry at Leander for leaving and upsetting everyone and everything. She was sick of pining for Spencer who was back in Navarro and never coming back for New York for anyone other than his baby sister. She wanted to get back to the girl she was supposed to be; strong, determined, and a survivor no matter what. She hadn’t survived leukaemia just to spend her twenties moping around and wishing for things to go back to how they used to be. Chloe made a point of not living in the past and yet these last few months that had been exactly what she had been wishing for. Well, no more. It was time she put her foot down and started getting on with her life. Leander and Spencer certainly weren’t wasting time thinking about her, and even Jack seemed to be doing fine these days from what Chloe had seen from around campus. She didn’t want to be the only one suffering anymore.
After spending the morning in the art rooms, putting her bitter emotions down on a canvas too large to be worked on in her small apartment, Chloe moved to the gym where she pushed her body to the max, not caring about how she looked or if she was sweating buckets by the time she called it quits. She had never seen the point of going to the gym and not breaking a sweat, or trying to look good. It wasn’t a satisfying workout for her unless she was frequently reaching for her towel and her water bottle, while one of her playlists blasted through her headphones and took away all of her worries and problems for a little while. A cool, refreshing shower later, and Chloe decided to head to the Student Union to grab a drink before making her way home. The sky was black, but the night had never brought fear to the native New Yorker. She had always felt confident, regardless of the horror stories people told about the city at night, and walking home was just a daily routine, and not something to panic over.
She order her mango and passionfruit refresher from the bar, joking with the bartender who was also in one of her art lectures. Exchanging a crisp note for her drink, Chloe turned to leave, but her dark eyes spotted a familiar figure sitting in the far back of the venue. Pulling the straw of her drink between her lips, she sipped at her cold drink and crossed the room, weaving through occupied tables and booths until she reached the figure. Leaning down, her long ponytail fell over her shoulder and tickled her skin. “Don’t you have anything better to do than veg out in this place?” Chloe joked to Winnie, up-righting herself again, mostly so her gym bag didn’t fall and smack Winnie in the back of the head. Given the option, Chloe wouldn’t be in the Union bar for any reason other than a night out with friends. Then again, her choice of hangout had always been the pool.
