FEARS:
She’s afraid of eating meat because of tape worms and deadly bacteria.
She’s afraid of letting Simon down.
She’s afraid to live alone.
SECRETS: She moved to New York because she was running away from an abusive relationship.
PERSONALITY: Jessie is spunky and sarcastic. She’s quick on her feet, and she’s not one to back down from anything. She has a lot of attitude packed into her small body, but that’s what makes it easier for her to get along with guys. She can be a handful at time, and she is very opinionated. She’s not one to shy away from telling it how it is, and she doesn’t really care if it hurts someone’s feelings. She feels that the truth is always best. She’s not one to dwell on the small things in life. If someone doesn’t make the time to be in her life, she will hold the door open for them to leave her life. But, just because she has a tough outer shell doesn’t mean that her walls can’t be broken down. When she’s around her older brother, she will put them completely down. She’s not afraid to cry or show her real feelings in front of him, and she knows that he will do anything to protect her or make her feel better. Sometimes all she needs is for her brother to hug her and tell her that things will be okay.MOTHER: Martha - 48

HISTORY: Jessie was the last born in her family of four. She was brought into the world in California, and she grew up with her brother there. The family lived comfortably, money-wise. They never really struggled. The kids were always happy, but that didn’t mean they were always healthy. In fact, her older brother Simon, seemed to be always sick. Other than that, nothing much happened in their childhood.
As Jessie got older, though, she and Simon started getting closer. He was her rock. They were also complete opposites, it seemed. Jessie would always be getting into trouble for little things. She was always climbing up on things, eating things she wasn’t supposed to, those sorts of things. Simon, though, was sitting and reading or drawing in his spare time. Though they were complete opposites, they always got along. Jessie admired her older brother. She always wanted to be like him, though she knew she never could be. She had too big of a mouth to be like Simon.
When Jessie got grounded, which happened often since she did a lot of things she wasn’t supposed to do, she would sit with Simon and read comic books or teach herself how to draw from looking at the comic book illustrations. That was one thing they had in common: they were both on the nerdy side. Jessie was just better at hiding her nerdy self.
As she entered high school, her brother was graduating from it. She started hanging out with guys more and more, not really dating them. She would go to the skatepark with them, or go walking around town with them, goofing off. She noticed graffiti one day, and she realized that was what she loved. She has been obsessed with it ever since. During her high school career, her brother went to some other country, and she got jealous of him. That didn’t mean she wasn’t happy for him because she was. She just wished she could go out and explore the world like him.
That’s when she started acting out a little more. She started her own graffiti style, and she would often sneak out in the middle of the night to go vandalize buildings. She got caught a few times, but nothing serious ever happened to her. Her parents yelled and grounded her, but that was about all. When she was eighteen, Simon came back, yet he left again to go to New York. Jessie had gotten into their forensics school there, but she decided to stay back for a boy. She told Simon it was so she could work and save up money. She didn’t feel like being lectured by him for not following her dreams over a guy. But it wasn’t just any guy. It was Rhys Beckman. He was well known around the school for being a total bad guy, yet he had his eye set on Jessie. She was all for it, and she followed him around like a puppy dog.
Things started off good. Or so she thought. She was way in over her head with him, but she couldn’t see it because she was blinded by her love for him. He would boss her around, asking her to get him things with her own money or telling her to stop her plans to spend time with him. Then he started yelling at her in private. Then it escalated to yelling at her in public and in front of friends. Eventually, she was too embarrassed to leave their shared apartment. She started getting hit by Rhys, and she stopped talking to her parents. Luckily for Jessie, her parents weren’t going to sit around and do nothing when they knew their baby was in trouble. They went over and talked to her when he wasn’t there, and something they said just clicked. So, in the middle of the night, she snuck out and went to NY to be with Simon.
