FEARS: cars - again, pretty self explanatory. she hasn't driven a car since her husband and her got in that wreck. she prefers walking, and she's teaching ella that walking is better so nothing bad happens to her while she's in a car.
losing ella - she wouldn't be able to live her life if she lost her daughter. she tries her hardest to keep her kid safe and healthy.
dying - she doesn't want to leave ella alone. she'd go to her parents, but she'd have to give up her entire life and move to spain. she'd also be without both parents, and gen doesn't want her daughter to go through that.
SECRETS: That she's a recovering alcoholic.
PERSONALITY: Gen is very motherly. She loves taking care of people, especially children and the elderly. She loves protecting people, which is why she became a cop. She's very motivated, and she believes anyone can overcome anything if they are willing to try. She's always willing to help someone out if they need her help, but she won't help you out if she thinks you're just going to use her. She doesn't really talk to too many people because she's a single mother who works.MOTHER: Rosaline - 64

HISTORY: my parents met one day while my dad was visiting spain. his family had a vacation house there, and he took his girlfriend there to get away from england. he was actually planning to propose. it didn't happen, though. he went out to get the ring, stopping for a coffee. mom was there, and he instantly knew that this woman was the one for him. not the girl he'd brought with him. he broke it off with his girlfriend, moving to be with my mother.
a year after meeting, they got married. a year after being married, i was born. it was may 30th. mom wanted to incorporate both of my heritages, so that's how i got my name. they were both very religious, catholic to be exact. they raised me on catholic standards, enrolling me in catholic schools. since i was the only child, they threw themselves into raising me correctly and without mistakes. my days were always the same. wake up two hours before school, get ready, exercise, eat breakfast, then off to school. after school it was after school clubs, sports teams, and homework. before bed, i would pray.
by the time i entered high school, i was the captain of the debate and science club, in a writing club and in another science club. i was on the soccer team, too. my parents pressured me into being a straight a student, too. my senior year of high school, i met a guy. he swept me off my feet, and i dropped everything to be with him. i started doing worse in school, never went to my club meetings, and i never went to soccer practice. i stopped listening to everything my parents said. i was rebelling.
that ended up with me being pregnant, and the father leaving me. he couldn't handle raising another human being. my parents were pretty disappointed, but they supported me, helping me get my life on track. until i lost the baby. i was in my second trimester, and something went wrong. after that, i started to rebel even more, getting into alcohol and drugs. i wasn't a big fan of the drugs, so i stuck to alcohol. by the time i was nineteen, i was a full fledged alcoholic. i moved out of my parents house, living with my new 'friends'.
one night, when i was twenty-one, i ended up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. after that, i knew i needed to stop. it took a year of trial and error before i ended up completely stopping. at the age of twenty-three, i enrolled in college, and at the age of twenty-four, i went on a class trip to the united states. by this point in my life i had grown to accept the fact that i most likely wasn't going to find a husband or have children.
my trip to america changed that. i had roomed with a family, the ellingson's, and they had a son two years older than me. he and i fell head over heels in love with each other, and since i was living with his family for at least the next six months, we grew to know each other a lot better. at twenty-five, i dropped out of college to move to the states. tyler graduated from college that year, and he went on to become a surgeon. he provided for our little family of two, and i got a little side hobbies just so i wouldn't feel like i wasn't doing anything.
i ended up at a shooting range one day, and from the first time i pulled the trigger, i knew it would be an important part of my life. i felt so free and like i could protect myself if i needed. when i was twenty-eight, tyler and i got married. we tried for children, but every time i ended up pregnant, i lost the baby. until three years later when we conceived ella. things in the pregnancy were going well. one night, when i was thirty-one, tyler and i went out to see a movie and have dinner. i was about six months pregnant, too.
the night went amazing, and when it ended, we needed to drive home. we did, but it was icy. tyler drove carefully, but a drunk driver on the other side of the road hit some ice and hit the car we were in head on. it was a bad wreck, and tyler died instantly. i was rushed to the hospital, and they took ella three months early. she was tiny, but luckily she was developed enough to live. in the wreck, i broke my back. they told me that i would never be able to walk again. not without help, anyway. they did surgeries to fix my back, and after six months i started physical therapy.
my mom had flown in to take care of me and ella. ella was still in the hospital being looked after because she was so early. after four months of her being in the hospital, my mom took her to my house, taking care of her while i was stuck in the hospital. when i started physical therapy, it seemed hopeless. after a year of pushing myself, i regained my ability to walk. ella was two when i was able to walk, and i could finally take care of my child. my mom stayed with us, though, and my walking got better. it was a medical miracle that i even lived, let alone could walk again.
at the age of thirty-four, i enrolled in the academy, and I passed it. I'm a newer officer, but I'm good at what I do. I love it, and I love taking care of the city.
