EDGAR RIDLEY PENKETH
FULL NAME: Edgar Ridley Penketh.
NICKNAMES: Eddie, but if he’s honest he’s not a total fan.
AGE: Twenty-seven
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Straight.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Student.
GRADE: Senior.
MAJOR: Paramedic Science.
JOB OCCUPATION: The Flower Pot General Assistant.HAIR: Brown, thick. Edgar keeps it neat, but the length can vary depending on ‘how busy’ he is. That roughly translates to how lazy he’s actually feeling about getting it cut, but it never goes past shoulder length, even at his laziest.
EYES: Brown.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: None.
TATTOOS: Much to his gram’s dismay, he has five. A missile on the inside of his left bicep. He has a piece he designed himself on the inside of his left forearm; he calls it his death moth. On his left wrist there is a small wing. He has an anagram on his shoulder of a famous quote which he doesn’t translate to anybody. His final tattoo he keeps a secret, and no one but him and the artist have seen it since he got it done a year ago; so it’s hidden and no one’s gotten him naked since. Impressive, or sad?
PIERCINGS: He’s had both of his ears pierced, but he rarely wears anything in them now.
PLAY-BY: Charlie Cox!LIKES: pumpkin pie, pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin in general, tattoos, old bookshops, fishing, ale, his gram’s cooking, magic shows, India, festivals, girls who are entirely themselves, biographies, sleeping in on the weekends, greenhouses, banana pancakes, early morning trips, arcade machines, pasta, arranging flowers, visiting his grandparents, skating.
DISLIKES: Hospitals, driving lost distances, exams, cemeteries, fizzy drinks, bourbon, dust, formal occasions, loud, brassy girls, DIY, twenty-four hour news channels, oily skin, cutting himself shaving, raspberries, French cooking, missing birthdays, karaoke, singing anywhere but the shower, paper cuts, Times Square.
FEARS: Losing his grandparents, bug infestations, Silent Hill games; he played one when he was little and had nightmares for three months.
SECRETS: He still has action figures from his childhood.
PERSONALITY: Edgar is a friendly kind of guy, even if he’s a bit bumbly around new people. He’s considerate and caring and will always help others before even thinking of himself. Loyal and Trustworhty he’s the type of guy who makes an excellent friend for life. He’s also one of the lads and doesn’t mind hitting up the bars on the weekend and playing wingman when his buddy wants to flirt with someone. He’s a sweetheart who has been messed around in the past by people who never really cared for him, but Edgar is still very trusting despite all of this. He’s a genuinely good guy who doesn’t have a bad word to say about anyone; it takes a great deal to make him hate someone and when that happens the explosive outburst of his dislike is always private and in the comfort of his own home. He doesn’t like hating people since he doesn’t understand the point in it. He likes the idea of family, even if his upbringing was a little less conventional than most. Edgar has thought about that picket fence for himself one day, but he doesn’t cling to it while he’s focusing on school and getting his future career off the ground. He’s not very confrontational at all – stemming back to not seeing the point in hating folk – but should anyone disrespect or threaten the people he cares most about, he has been known to throw a punch; a fairly pathetic punch, but all the same he threw it. He likes originality when it comes to dating, but at the same time can be a little bit lazy on his ideas of romance. He tends to stick to things tried and tested on previous girlfriends than dare venture into something new; at least at first. Edgar is darling, but he’s a little bit too traditional for some girls, which can cost him relationships, even if he thinks they’re going swimmingly.MOTHER: Denise Kelly Fairfield, 54.

HISTORY: Denise and Lewis were the type who never thought they’d have children. Denise met Lewis when she was taking a gap year from her education back in New York. They met in London, England. Lewis was a man who worked for the British Government doing the kind of contract work that never saw him in one place for too long. Their relationship was nothing more than a fling at his country home, but before it came to an end, Denise found out that she was pregnant. She stayed there at Lewis’ request until she gave birth to their son; Edgar. Lewis tried to make a promise to give them both a life they deserved, but his job always came first and it kept him away for weeks on end. Denise got lonely raising a little baby in the countryside. It was so far from her home and she just couldn’t get used to it.
Edgar can’t remember many happy memories from his early years. His mother drank to ease the pain and spent days locked in her bedroom nursing hangovers. When his father was around it was only brief, though he did try his best with his son, but the little boy always thought him strange. He couldn’t understand how they could go from happy family to being so far apart in a matter of days. It was tough for a little boy and school was his escape. He had a few friends, but he never let them come round to his house because of his mother and her habits. She wanted more from Lewis but he was climbing the career ladder and it kept him away for longer and longer. When he was twelve his maternal grandparents intervened. They still lived in New York and offered to take the little boy away and give him the childhood he ought to have. Denise went to rehab and called it a day with Lewis. He still paid for Edgar’s upbringing and visited him when he had the time, but he was distant from the boy’s life from here on.
Denise also returned to the states but went back to finish her university studies whilst her parents raised Edgar. The little boy loved his grandparents and they gave him everything he deserved. In return he grew up with respect for everyone and would drop everything to help them out. Edgar breezed through high school. His mother, almost following in the steps of his father, worked away a lot, travelling for the company she worked for, but Edgar was happy with his grandparents.
He wanted to be a paramedic, but when Edgar was in his senior year of high school his gram had a fall and needed extra assistance at home. He had already applied to colleges, but he chose to reject his acceptance letters to stay at home and help his grandparents out. They were old and would need his help. He finished up school and lied about having plans for the future, sticking around in his grandparent’s home and working various jobs to bring money in to pay the way for himself and to help the retired couple out too.
When he was twenty-two, he came home from work to find his gram waiting for him. She had been feeling like a good spring clean and had gone to get his laundry basket when she had knocked over a box on his wardrobe. Out of it had tumbled the old college acceptance letters. Edgar got a good scolding for not going back when he was eighteen, and she even called him stupid for thinking that they needed him to stick around. She explained that all they wanted was for him to follow his dreams, and the older they got the more they wished it for him. She insisted that he go ahead and make it a reality, so he applied again and headed off to NYU the following September. It was close enough that he could drop by and visit them, and they could call him if they needed any jobs doing around the home. It was something he insisted on before he left.
Now he’s in his final year, close to being a paramedic and helping those who need it, and paying the bills with a small job at a florist. He likes his life, and his gram likes him bringing flowers home on the weekends when he heads back to visit them just outside of the city.
