SECRETS: Endelyn spent a lot of her childhood growing up in the grounds of a psychiatric hospital. She wasn’t a patient there, but it was where both of her parents worked. However she learnt back when she was a kid that the less she said about that the better and now it’s something she keeps to herself.
PERSONALITY: Endelyn is a sweet and caring young woman who aims to follow in her parents footsteps and help people in her future. She has a good heart and is considerate of everyone else around her, being selfless most of the time. Optimistic and almost always happy, Endelyn finds that she can approach children better than she can adults, perhaps because despite the stories she heard as a child and some of the things she saw, Endelyn has retained a mostly innocent mind; she’s not the type to understand the dirty jokes, or pick up on innuendos. Everything she saw as a child though, worked to fuel her imagination on one hand, to give a little girl what seemed like reasonable explanations for some horrible scenes, and also made her strong enough to handle some horrible stories later in life. Now, where people might cry at something they hear, Endelyn only finds herself resolved to make sure it doesn’t happen again. She’s soft-spoken, but confident, though many people who meet her peg her as being shy because of her quiet, small nature. Endelyn isn’t a fighter, but she will stand up for herself, and others, verbally if she feels it is needed; though in her twenty-one years she claims to have never really lost her temper. A sweetheart though she is, Endelyn has never really dated anyone. She was never considered by the boys back home during school, and since moving to New York she’s focused on school, not landing a date, so when it comes to romance she’s not got any real experience herself, but doesn’t let that faze her.MOTHER: Sadie Kerra Nankervis, 54.

HISTORY: Piran and Sadie were both doctors who worked with the mentally ill at one of Cornwall’s psychiatric hospitals. Piran was a psychiatrist there whilst Sadie catered to other health demands of the patients from the infirmary in the unit. They bumped into each other daily and over time began to notice a spark there. Piran asked her out close to Christmas and a few years later it was the story he told in their wedding speech. In no rush to start a family, they found a small house in Perranporth where they both wanted to live, tolerated the slightly longer drive to work, and continued to focus on helping the patients in their care. Sadie was in her thirties before they started trying to have a baby, both happy with the thought of just one child. Endelyn came along in the spring time, a little over a year after they started trying to complete their family. She was a bundle of joy and gave the proud parents no bother at all.
In a move that could never have been repeated a few years later, Endelyn grew up on the grounds of the hospital. It saved taking time off, and since there was a separate wing built for live in staff, they found someone there who was always happy to coo over the baby girl. When she was older though, Endelyn would wander off into the grounds where no patients were, chasing rabbits into the bushes and giving the nurses a heart attack when she vanished out of their sight to pick at berries or to see what was going on through the hedge. Sometimes it was necessary to drag Endelyn to the hospital since her parents were called out at all hours if there was an incident. There were things Endelyn was never supposed to see which she did, and some of the people there frightened her because she was too young to understand what was wrong with them. Her parents would try to explain it to her, but a little girl couldn’t understand such things or why her parents couldn’t make them better right away. Obviously this was something that became clearer to Endelyn as she grew older.
This element of her childhood made her something of an outcast though amongst others who didn’t see it at all normal. Endelyn only learnt to keep her mouth shut about it though, rather than stop accompanying her parents during school holidays. She was still too young to be left at home, which was a two hour drive away from the hospital. However, growing up in Perranporth, like most of the kids there, Endelyn became fond of surfing, and used this to make friends and bond with locals. When the summer months came around it was nearly impossible to get her off the beach, especially as she got older.
Life was fairly average for Endelyn. There were times when she longed for a brother or sister, but she was also happy to be by herself. Her parents showed her plenty of love and affection despite their long and sometimes hectic hours at work. She adored her family and they made time to go to different places and see things. Perin always told Endelyn that she had to see as much of the world as she could when she was older, and they were words that always stuck with the young girl. It was why, after high school and her two years of sixth form, Endelyn only applied for universities that were outside of the UK. Her parents worried at first, but she told them that it would only be for a few years and then she would probably come back home again. She also reminded her father that it was his idea that she had to see the world, and this was one of the best ways to do it.
She ended up at school in New York City. It was a far cry from the life she was used to, but Endelyn quickly began to adapt. She had to. She didn’t want to flunk out of school just because it was such a change and so she worked hard in her classes, majoring in sociology on the path to her dreams of being a social worker one day, and got a job at an arcade that were advertising for staff when she had popped in one afternoon with some new friends. The arcade reminded her of being back at home and since this was not a seaside town, she would take any little reminder she could have. Now a junior, Endelyn is quick in the city and on course for graduating with a good GPA and excellent chance at her future. She’s focused solely on school these last few years, despite friends trying to encourage her to try other things too. Endelyn knows university comes first, but she’s starting to wonder if maybe she ought to try living a little more.
