HISTORY: born on march eleventh in detroit, michigan, ashton lived a pretty normal child-hood. he grew up with his older brother, having a normal sibling rivalry, but they both loved each other very much. he got satisfactory grades in school, and his parents got on him about them. they got on him about everything. but one day changed that forever.



his dad picked them up from school most days, and that day was just like the others. he was eleven, in sixth grade, and his brother was thirteen, in eighth grade. both in the same school. only one trip needed to be taken. on their way back home, an eighteen wheeler hit them, killing his brother instantly. ashton was rushed to the hospital along with his father.



dalton died on the operating table. ashton, though, was lucky. he lived through it. he got a blood transfusion for all the blood he’d lost, saving his little life. it took a few months for him to get better, but he did. the school had a teacher brought to the hospital on days he was feeling well enough to learn so he wouldn't get too far behind.



finally, after a year, things were getting back to normal for him. until one day at school he got extremely sick. the teachers didn’t know what to do, so they called his mother, rushing him to the hospital. the doctor’s did some screenings, and found out they’d given him bad blood. he had aids. and now, he was going to die.



they didn’t know when, they just knew that he was going to die. it broke the already shattered family’s hearts. they tried everything to get him better, only bringing him closer to his doctors. and his mom was getting closer to one, too. dr. blake. after about a year of treatments, nothing worked, but dr. blake and ashton’s mom got married.



it made the family a little happier knowing there were nice people out there. there were periods of time where ashton would be in the hospital for months at a time. then there were times when he acted as if nothing were bothering him. he took his pills, ate certain foods, and napped whenever he could. that was about all he could do.



when he was about thirteen, he got a little sister. she made things easier on him, too. cheering him up when he was down. most days were hard for him when he was in school. most kids knew he had aids. and they weren't nice about it. they made fun of him, calling him a homo, throwing things at him, etc. his parents finally took him out of school, and they home schooled him. and then one day, kaelon got a job offer in ny. he took it, moving the family to the big apple. ashton went to a local high school, while his parents worked, and his sister went to some private day care thing. but nothing was the same for them. after high school, they realized ashton's therapy was working, and he hadn't thought about what he wanted to become when he was older. He never thought he would get the chance to live that long. so instead of going to school, he went to work instead, still trying to decide on a career path.
