SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: nothing more than the usual scrapes from climbing trees and being a kid. He’s got a couple minor burns here and there from cooking as well

FEARS: Turning out like his father, never starting up that restaurant, forgetting Maxwell and Corinne.

PERSONALITY: Perry was quite the mischief maker as a child. A trait that had never really left him, only dulled a little with time. When he cares about something, he cares with everything he has. Loyal to the core, Perry won’t stop until he’s sure everything is alright. Must like his uncle, Perry is stubborn, intelligent and likes a good bet; especially when the odds are in his favour. He’s not a fan of cards, though he’s been known to play a few hands. He’s quick on his feet, understands more than he lets on and looks at everything like a puzzle he needs to solve. Everything has a strategy to it and a quitter he is not. Perry is a determined guy, once his mind is set on something, he won’t stop until he achieved the goal he’d set out to accomplish. His childhood had left plenty to be desired, despite having the best education available to him. He considers his Aunt and Uncle his only family, and now that they’re gone, Perry is more driven now than before to show them they weren’t wrong in putting some faith in him. Perry’s creative and has a way with food that his aunt saw after her husband had passed away. She saw in him what he had found in the classroom of that boarding school in south England. It’s a rare show to see temper in Perry’s eyes. He’s usually a very relaxed and calm person, choosing words over actions.

HISTORY: Richard and Rose met purely by accident. They were both attending a fundraiser in London when they first met. From there it was casual dates and eventually things became serious. There was a proposal, a marriage and a few short years later, the unexpected surprise of a darling baby boy; Percival Harrison Collins. Richard was pleased with a son; an heir to take over the family business but Rose has other feelings. Perry’s childhood was hardly anything he would wish on his worst enemy. The years of his young life were filled with nannies and keepers to watch over him. Richard and Rose Collins were ‘busy’ people. At least, that was what they told their son whenever he asked. From the beginning of school, Perry was put into the best schools money could buy. Richard was the CEO of a multimedia conglomerate. Perry had never thought to figure out which since he couldn’t give two damns about what the man did with his days in the first place. Rose was a model once upon a time, but that time changed when Perry was born. She never said it but she resented her son for messing with her career.
As a young boy, he spent many hours running through his house pretending to be a spy and digging up information to use later. He spent much of the free time he could get at his aunt and uncle’s house, where he didn’t need to keep quiet and was allowed to go into the kitchen for a drink or a snack whenever he wanted one. Soon trouble began with Perry and he was expelled from the private school he attended, only to be enrolled into another. By then Perry was nearly twelve and very good at trouble and within a month of being at the second was yet again expelled and forbidden to return. All the while, Perry could only laugh at it all. His parents didn’t care, so why should he? Deciding it was time, Richard made arrangements for Perry to attend a boarding school in Connecticut. And within a year, he was expelled, with the headmaster stating he’d never met a boy like him. Feeling as though this was the final straw, Richard made some calls, and Perry started the next school year at yet another boarding school, this one in the south of England. He filled the time before then being home schooled by his nanny at the time, Georgette.
Perry was smart, good at the maths and sciences in his studies, better still at English. But he hated it all. Georgette gave up on him within a week, claiming she wasn’t being paid to teach him anything, just to make sure he was fed. Perry shrugged having never liked her in the first place, packed his books and went off to his aunt and uncle’s house. Corinne and Maxwell Collins were nice, they didn’t deny him his fun and games and they helped with his problems. Perry had lost count how many times over the years he’d wished they were his parents instead. Rose had rules and if they weren’t followed, the punishments weren’t pleasant. The new school year rolled round and Perry was shipped off alone to meet his fate at this new school. He tried his best to get kicked out again and sent back home but it just never happened. Eventually, Perry realised that he was actually welcome there; he had friends and was excelling in his classes. His second term had him registered to a cooking class and this was where he found his true passion.
His final year, he applied to all sorts of school dedicated to the culinary arts. He was accepted to a few but turned them all down when his Aunt sent news of his uncle’s death. They’d been out to dinner and a show in New York had come home and interrupted a burglar. Corinne screamed, ran when Maxwell pushed her to go and he moved forward to stop the thief. Corinne didn’t know what happened next but she called the police and they arrived to find both Maxwell and the thief unconscious on the floor. The police figure a scuffle ensured, fists were thrown a few times before both men picked up heavier weapons. Maxwell got in a few blows before the robber clocked him well enough in the face, knocking him out completely. The thief only made it to the hall before he collapsed as well. The paramedics got them both to the hospital, but Maxwell was in serious condition. He had swelling on his brain and the doctors put him into a medicated coma. But the swelling never went down and he was diagnosed brain dead. Corinne only kept him on life support long enough for her to talk to Perry about it all. He was the closest thing to a son the couple ever had and it meant a lot to him that she wanted him there to make that terribly sad decision.
They buried him a couple days later in a plot near an old Willow tree. Perry stayed with Corinne, in their home to help with everything around. She wanted to move; too many memories in the house she had once shared with Maxwell. Perry took care of all of that and the lawyers came in with the will to go over with Perry and Corinne. Not much was left to Maxwell’s brother, Perry’s father and Rose; just a couple family heirlooms. When Perry had been born, Maxwell and Corinne chose to put some money aside for their nephew and added to it often, for school or whatever when the time came. They had plans to surprise Perry with this money when the tragedy struck and it had been the last thing on Corinne’s mind. Perry brushed it off, he didn’t care about it; it only meant now that he didn’t have to rely on his parents for things. He’d had a trust fund set up by Richard as well, but that was another thing Perry didn’t care about. Perry stuck around with Corinne for two years, helped her move from the estate in Maine to an apartment in Manhattan, a quiet neighbourhood in the Upper East Side with a view of the park. But Corinne was never the same without Maxwell, despite her trying her hardest to be brave and to get through things. She fell ill, found herself in hospital. Perry stayed with her through this and had his heart broken when she passed away in the middle of the night when he’d been at home in the apartment, asleep and dreaming. He swore she came to him in the dream. A sweet smile on her face and love in her eyes as she said thank you to him for staying with her through everything and then she was standing next to Maxwell and together they faded slowly. Perry had woken up in a cold sweat, his breath coming fast. He brushed it away but when he got dressed in the morning, got himself ready and went to hospital to visit, the nurse told him what happened.
Because Maxwell was Richard’s brother, they shared the family business. Maxwell’s share went to Corinne when he past, but when Corinne past, having no children, it went to Perry. From the moment in hospital, with that nurse, Perry was in a perpetual state of shock. He was numb for the better part of a month and was only shaken out of it when the meeting with the lawyers again. After Maxwell had past, Corinne went to the lawyers and double checked everything in her own will. She made sure that nothing left went to Richard and Rose, and her own sister only got a small portion; just enough to keep her comfortable for some time. But the rest of what belonged to her went to her only nephew; Perry. There was a note as well, that started with if he hadn’t already gone through school, he should now that he didn’t have anyone to take care of but himself. She thanked him again for staying with her throughout everything and there was a file that came with the letter for NYU’s culinary department, all the information for registering. Perry had cut off all ties from his own parents years ago, when they sent him off to England. Maxwell and Corinne had been his only family, and now they were gone. It took him some time but he registered at NYU and now, at nearly twenty five, Perry is in his final year of college with so much ahead of him. Since he buried Corinne next to her husband, Perry went out to Maine once a month to visit the only people who really ever cared about him. With the money they gave him, he gave small portions to charity every year and gave a large donation in Corinne’s name to NYU because it had been her idea that he attend the school. Now Perry is just trying to move on with his life.
