LOGAN EVERETT JAMES
FULL NAME: Logan Everett James.
NICKNAMES: N/A.
AGE: twenty-one.
SEXUALITY: straight.
STATUS: single
GROUP: student
GRADE: junior.
MAJOR: teaching and education
JOB OCCUPATION: Barista at Java Hut.
HAIR: Light brown and he’s recently had it cut short for the summer! He usually runs some wax through it in the morning and then lets it do its’ thing. In the past he has grown it out to a shaggier length, so he might do it again. He doesn’t really plan these things
EYES: brown.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: A few from silly adventures
TATTOOS: Three ‘lines’ on the inside of his right wrist. It might seem a little quirky, but it has a meaning he doesn’t share with anyone.
PIERCINGS: None
PLAY-BY: Kennedy Brock!
LIKES: fireworks, math, pirates, loud music, fooling around, making the most of his time at college, swimming, climbing trees, hockey, haunted houses, fun houses, bars, seeing his sister, baggy shirts, being up late, winter, ice skating, trying new things, meeting new people, honeycomb toffee, motel rooms, Lord of The Rings, Terry Pratchett novels, straws, lollipops.
DISLIKES: long car journeys, too tight clothing, his gluten & dairy allergies, baby pink, liars, “bitty” orange juice, crowded hallways, dropping a stack of books in the library, burning himself at work, moths getting in his apartment, being seen as a bit of a fool, perfumed soaps (allergies), really spicy dishes, dark chocolate, wine, getting ridiculously drunk, scorpions.
FEARS: scorpions, car accidents, funerals (he’s been to them, but he really freaks out at them)
SECRETS: He almost never made it to New York or to college. He almost gave it all up for a summer romance. In the end, he left her, but he still wonders what could’ve been.
PERSONALITY: Logan is relatively quiet, but totally friendly. He’ll talk to anyone so long as they approach him first, or he’s introduced. Otherwise he’s the boy in the corner drinking whatever through a red straw. Some might call him shy, but he overcomes it easily enough, but it’s often with a random or awkward icebreaker. He has a heart of gold which has and does get trodden on and beaten up more than he would care to admit. Logan is too much of a good guy and it often backfires with people using and abusing his kindness. He’s also non-confrontational so he doesn’t really have a good way of dealing with it when he finds out that he has been betrayed. He’s a generally thoughtful guy, often zoning out of a conversation only to come back in with a bizarre and entirely unrelated question; like the economic crisis of the wizarding world. He’s curious and the kind of guy who will try anything and everything, but he also has a cautious side to him, mainly because of his allergies; he doesn’t exactly welcome crippling stomach pains or blotchy skin. Most of his friends call him a dork and he’s pretty inclined to agree with them. He doesn’t see anything wrong with that, but he knows that he has his hobbies and likes that can sometimes catch people off guard or confuse them. He’s confident in himself and who he is and can often be the guy who will dance in the street or confess his love for a terrible song without an ounce of humiliation. As for romance, he’s not exactly Mr Smooth. He’s the guy who will show up with flowers he picked himself and something goofy or related to an inside joke. He prefers the personal touch over the massive displays of affection and expensive gifts for no reason. In his past, girls have ended things because he’s not been romantic enough for their liking or he’s been a little too odd, but he doesn’t “get” what they want from him to fix his mistakes.

FATHER: Oscar Finnegan James, 49
SIBLINGS: Claire Francesca James, 17.
OTHERS: Holly Melissa Caldwell, 20, ex-girlfriend/summer love
PETS: Lucy, Rottweiler.

HISTORY: Oscar and Natasha met when Oscar began working for her father’s magazine as one of the sports journalists. She was in her final year of college to become a fashion photographer, but she was determined to make her relationship with Oscar work. Two years together and Oscar finally asked her to marry him. Another two years, a house and a promotion for Oscar came and went and then Natasha surprised him with the news of her first pregnancy. Overjoyed, he wasted no time in decorating the spare room and turning it into a nursery for their new arrival. Logan Everett James was born on a hot summer evening that Natasha couldn’t stop complaining about, even after Logan was born. To her it was a great day, but an awful day to go into labour.
Logan was a pretty happy little boy. He toddled around and fell into things like any other child did and often tried to reach things he wasn’t supposed to. He never really gave his parents any problems, often staying quiet while they were relaxing or trying to focus on their work in the house. He was four when Natasha discovered that she was pregnant again, and it wasn’t too long after his fifth birthday when she gave birth to his little sister, Claire Francesca. He was a little confused at first, not really “understanding” the other baby, but he quickly adapted to the big brother role. He tried his best to help out, even if he made things worse at times!
At school, Logan never really fitted in with too many of his classmates. He would often zone out during the classes and get lost in his own little world. He didn’t have the same interests as others and was just generally a little quirky at times and the kids picked up on that, teasing him relentless from that point on, right up until the end of high school. Logan never fought back, never had that aggression in him and he didn’t let it get to him where they could see it. He had a small group of friends who grew used to his little ways, shared some of his likes and didn’t care if he asked them odd questions that really made no sense. He put on a little brave face at home, not wanting to confess to his parents about the childish bullies. He managed to maintain decent grades, despite his habit of drifting off from time to time.
When they were younger and long before Claire started high school, Logan was pretty close with his little sister. She waited for him to come home from school when she was still too young to attend herself and then she would wait for him to meet with her, so they could go home together. She looked up to her big brother and spent as much time with him as she could, even adopting some of his hobbies as her own. They were as close as could be for those years and Logan wanted it to stay that way.
When he got to high school he had even more pressure on him from both his peers and his teachers. Luckily, his career was something he had known he would do since he was fifteen. He wanted to be a teacher. He didn’t appear like some stereotypical school nerd with the consistently high grades in every subject, but he did enjoy school. Logan liked learning new things and putting that knowledge to use, even if it was only in the essays or assignments assigned to him by the teachers. He knew he wanted to teach little kids. With his personality he knew that high school students would probably just trample all over him. Plus, his own teacher back when he was eight had been such a great guy who made every lesson fun, even the boring stuff. Logan wanted to be that teacher; the one all the kids longed to be in the class with and hated having to say goodbye to. He knew it was a slightly ambitious hope, but it was the one he strived to achieve. Before he got there though, he still had bullies to avoid, girls to talk to and the typical high school events to survive. They weren’t really his strongest points, but he coped and got through high school with minimal trauma and just a slight heartbreak during his junior year, but a summer of camping, video games and books had got him through it.
He wanted to spread his wings a little for college and put all the plans in place to move to New York once he had the confirmation of his acceptance. It was also in his senior year when Claire began to pull away from her “dorky big brother”. She was on the cusp of teenage mayhem herself and after realising how everyone else saw Logan, she didn’t want the same thing for herself. He never said anything directly to her, but he knew why she did it. He gave her the space she practically demanded and never took it too personally. He knew her friends and classmates were probably the reason for her behaviour as well as the normal mood swings. Plus, he would be gone come September and then she could cool off and think about what she really wanted out of their sibling relationship.
However, in the June he met Holly. She had lived in Fort Smith her whole life but had gone to a different school and generally been around a different crowd. If that song from Grease was ever supposed to make sense, it was when he was around her. Logan really did fall hard for her and she appeared to feel the same for him. With college approaching it seemed like fate wasn’t on their side, but with Holly having no intention to continue her education, Logan began to have crazy thoughts. She worked in her family’s B&B which she would one day inherit, so she was going to stay in the city and start learning the business with her mom and dad. There was a while during those hot summer months when Logan thought about giving up his dreams and his place at NYU for her and their romance. He came ridiculously close to doing it, too. Then he practically slapped himself in the face and told himself to behave. Even if he wanted to be with Holly he would need a way to support her and he had a part time job at an arcade! It wasn’t logical at all and as much as it killed him to do it, he broke things off and made the move to New York and into the student apartment his parents had rented for him.
During his first year of college, Logan decided that he wanted to experience it all. He joined a band purely for his own entertainment and to make friends, and later joined a mentor scheme to help the freshmen acclimatise to university life and help them through their problems. He did all the crazy things with his classmates, friends and neighbours and worked hard in class. Often his thoughts ventured back to Holly, what she might be doing. She had offered to keep in touch with him, but Logan knew that she would be a bad distraction if she phoned him each morning or evening. It was a clean break that they needed, but that didn’t stop him from hovering over her contact details in his phone or on the internet from time to time, especially when he was missing home the most. Claire kept in touch with him. She actually missed her big brother when he wasn’t around to bother her. She still hurled the insults at him from time to time, but whenever her parents deemed that she had “earned it” and Logan had the time available, she came to stay with him in New York, often trying to get herself into as much trouble as any teenage girl could. Luckily, Logan just about managed to keep her under control in the city.
His first two years flew by. He got a job at Starbucks, lived the student life as much as he could and crossed a lot of things off his “while in New York” bucket list. With another two years and plenty more things on that list, he’s just hanging in there, taking each day as it comes and meandering through life and whatever it can possible throw at him next. He’s still waiting for the day he falls down an unguarded manhole.
