DISLIKES: jazz music, being up late when he's on an early shift, loud talking when he's trying to concentrate, needing to shave, seafood, crusty bread, long books, cold hands, grapefruit, ice chips, WWE, low battery on his phone, not being able to stop yawning, dodgeball, Will Ferrell, triple shifts.

SECRETS: Newt lost the girl he wanted to marry because he was stupid enough to get drunk and wake up in bed with another girl. He doesn't know if anything actually happened between them, but being honest about it cost him the relationship.
PERSONALITY: Newt is a pretty funny guy. He’s the bro most people see making the jokes and asking for the high fives. He’s a team player with a hard working soul and is always the first to volunteer for the extra shifts when they’re short staffed or have a backlog to clear. He’s intelligent, but not the type to boast about it. In fact, in all areas of his life, Newt has always been modest and only when you meet his parents and listen to them does anyone see just how much the man had accomplished over his almost thirty years of breathing. He’s a friendly guy who just wants to help people, and he takes health very seriously. He’s motivating, but sometimes overly so; do not ask him to be a gym buddy unless you’re serious about getting into shape. Strong and athletic Newt is the type who prefers an active and adventurous life or vacation to that of an easy one; he even dances about the lab when he’s waiting on results, rather than sitting in a chair like the rest of his colleagues. He’s generally a peaceful bloke, but upset anyone he cares about, and he’s the first to jump to their defence and take care of them or anyone bothering them. As a lover, Newt makes a rather wonderful boyfriend, but since his possible screw up in the past he has the potential of going overboard with dates since. He’ll shower them with love and affection but he struggles to know where the line is and when when he likes a girl. Though, he does dote on someone when he likes them, and really does treat them like a queen.MOTHER: Harriet Victoria Barrington, 59.

HISTORY: A top lawyer, Oliver didn’t really have much time to date when he was younger. Law school and then trying to prove himself at the firm that hired him took a lot of his time, but when he was forced out on a double date with a co-worker and his girlfriend and her buddy, he met the charming Harriet. She had grown up with the rich and blue collars on the country club circuit, and now worked as wedding planner for those who could afford her. She was another one who worked more hours that the cat slept, and after an awkward start to the date she was surprised by how much she actually had in common with Oliver. They took things slow, and there were a lot of cancelled dates due to work commitments, but they were both okay with that, oddly enough. Oliver eventually proposed five years in when he was trying to surprise Harriet with an evening at the theatre and a fancy dinner at their favourite restaurant. They married and soon talked about having a family, waiting little time after the conversation to get started. Two daughters, and a son later, and their family was complete.
They lived a fancy life, pushing the children into all kinds of extra-curricular activities the moment school began. They had an image to uphold, and with their country club friends and lifestyle, they needed achievements and stories to boast about each week. Yvette was the over-achiever who needed to be the best at everything and often left her siblings in the dirt just because she was the firstborn and just because she could. Lorelai was musical, and her recitals were the best around, but she always tried to beat Yvette, just so she could say that she did it at least once. Newt was relieved that he didn’t have to compete with them like that. He was the only son, and sports were his calling. He was forced to maintain good grades and he studied hard to make sure that he could keep his spot on the teams for games, and to make sure that his parents didn’t cut his allowance, or ensure that he couldn’t be at the Friday night party.
He knew that throughout his life he was going to pursue an academic future, even though sports seemed to be what he was known for when he was in school. His sisters went off and made names and families for themselves, and Newton knew he had to do the same. He fell in love with a beautiful girl in college, but after a drunken binge in the summer after their senior year, he lost her. Newt woke up in a strange bed next to a random brunette he knew from his biochemistry class, but he had no recollection of what had happened. Being an honest guy, he told his girlfriend exactly what had happened and how he didn’t know if he had done wrong or if he had been completely innocent and just passed out in the wrong place. She didn’t care though, and packed her things, ending the relationship that had been solid for four years. Apparently Newt was a risk who wasn’t worth taking.
He packed up his things and decided on a fresh start in New York City. He went ahead and got his Masters in Biomedicine and then got a job at the hospital labs. Being a doctor had never appealed to him with the pressures and the hours, but in the lab he could help with tests, and work with some of the research teams from time to time when he was called onto cases by senior staff members. It was what he thrived for, and maybe even thought that one day he might move on to something greater with the things he had learnt there. Everything in life is a stepping stone, and this is just another one of Newt’s.
