GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Bisexual.
STATUS: Single.
GROUP: Citizen.
GRADE: N/A.
MAJOR: N/A.
JOB OCCUPATION: Apollo Production Assistant.HAIR: Dark brown, and it’s kept short enough to be considered neat, but long enough for him to style it into some interesting styles. He occasionally has the sides cut shorter than the top, but it all depends on the mood he’s in when he goes to the barbers.
EYES: Dark brown.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: He has one on his eyebrow from a fight in school. He says it’s from a fight, but in actually fact a kid who bullied him throughout those turbulent years smashed him in the face one day and knocked him out and gave him that scar in the process.
TATTOOS: He has piano keys on his left forearm which he got when he was eighteen. He added the hibiscus and plumeria flowers for his sister after she went missing. On the inside of his left forearm is a portrait of Frank Sinatra who is his favourite singer and oddly, is also his dad and granddad’s favourite singer, so he sees it as a family connection, too.
PIERCINGS: None.
PLAY-BY: Brendon Urie!LIKES: Music, Thai food, guitars, fantasy novels, mosaics, Family Guy, suits, vanilla ice cream, shopping, Steam Punk parties, fictional debates, melted chocolate, spreadsheets, paperwork, clean glasses, chewing gum, mint anything, Gatorade, cherry pie, tuna sandwiches, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Depp movies, learning random skills, water parks, tapioca, Halloween.
DISLIKES: Sitting on his glasses, acne cream, ear infections, media reports, his sister’s anniversary, early morning alarms, pizza, ragdolls, bad headphones, his memories of school, personal social media, horses – generally animals bigger than he is, overly drunken friends falling on him, the gym, running for anything, whistles.
FEARS: Finding out the truth about what happened to Nicole, ragdolls, being betrayed.
SECRETS: Since moving to New York City, Reid hasn’t mentioned his sister, or what happened to her to anyone. He suspects if he mentioned her people will have heard of the incident, but Reid left home for the city to try and move away from that dark cloud. He doesn’t want it to follow him around for the rest of his days.
PERSONALITY: Reid is a rather gentle man, who tends to keep to himself most of the time. He’s a friendly guy, but he’s not the type to make random conversation with total strangers. In fact, it takes a very long time for Reid to really feel comfortable around people after a lifetime of being the favourite target for bullies. He’s weird, but it’s more of a coping mechanism for him rather than anything else. Reid likes things to be very organised and works with great logic, but sometimes he can take this too far – he makes a spreadsheet for shopping sometimes. Reid has never had a temper as far as he knows, but he also doesn’t share his feelings with others at all. It doesn’t matter if he’s happy, sad, or a million things in between, Reid simply doesn’t talk about how he is to others; when asked he is always just fine. Nonchalant about most things, Reid keeps things very internalised, and he doesn’t see why he should change any of that. He’s never had a chance to dabble with romance. He’s hopeless around women and lacks the passion that his parents once seemed to have. He doesn’t know if it’s a curse of his past, or if it’s just the way he is, but Reid is scared of being alone for the rest of his life, and at the same time he’s scared of finding someone he could love and losing them, or worse; being betrayed by them. He’s a bit of an old soul, and he’s far from feeling comfortable in his own skin, but Reid hopes that the day that changes might be coming soon.MOTHER: Susannah Whittaker, 48.
FATHER: Darwin Lee Whittaker, 53.
SIBLINGS: Nicole Bianca Whittaker, 21 (?).
OTHERS: N/A.
PETS: He has an ant farm if that counts.
HOMETOWN: Akron, Ohio.
HISTORY: Darwin and Susannah were bitter rivals when they first met, working on opposing projects for a council scheme. They would exchange harsh words whenever their paths crossed, and the other members of their respective teams couldn’t fathom exactly why they were so hostile with each other. There was always a matter of friendly rivalry, but it was never on the level that Susannah and Darwin took it to. It was only one late night when Darwin returned to the office building to collect a folder that he had left behind that he collided with Susannah working late. Once again they exchanged crude words, but this time their heated exchanged turned into a heated embrace. It was only a moment, leaving both of them very confused, but it happened twice more before they were finally caught out. Darwin stepped down from his team and basically surrendered his proposal to Susannah. He realised at that point that he wanted her more than he wanted the job. She came to him only after she accepted the job from the higher ups, and smirked before pulling him closer, making a comment about getting everything she wanted.
From there, their fights were passionate and only ever ended in the bedroom. It was probably through one of these fights that Reid was conceived. Darwin proposed to Susannah once she announced that she was pregnant, but they didn’t marry until Reid was two years old and able to toddle up the aisle holding onto someone’s hand in a suit identical to his father’s. It was another year before his little sister came along and Nicole was a nightmare in Reid’s life for a short while – and by a short while, he meant about ten more years.
Reid was sort of an outcast at school. He was a bit of an outsider since he liked old music, needed thick glasses to see, and ran around saying weird things. He was an easy target for bullies. He didn’t like sports, he wasn’t a fan of doing what all the other kids were doing and because of this it was easy for him to be picked on and tormented by his classmates. What made it worse when Reid got older was that his rather was the principal at his high school. After quitting the council for Susannah, Darwin had headed off to turn his history degree into a teaching qualification and at the same time that Reid was starting high school, Darwin had been promoted to principal. It wasn’t exactly easy to go to a school where he was the son of the head honcho. Kids would make his life hell just because of that reason alone, forget bothering Reid about the rest of his quirks or style.
His relationship with Nicole was better when they were older, but they were the type of brother and sister who would torment each other for an hour, swear at each other, take five minutes to be pissed off, and the head out to the movies or go shopping. They were close, but lived their own lives when it came to school and social lives. If they had plans together, it was only ever the two of them and never included any of their own friends; no reason, just the way it had always been with them. However, when Reid was seventeen and Nicole fifteen, tragedy struck. He was supposed to meet her at the cinema to see a movie, but she never showed up. She had been going shopping with some friends after school, and then was meant to be meeting Reid a bit later. When she didn’t show he just assumed that she had lost track of time with the girls, and so he headed home and sent her a text to let her know that. Nicole never replied, and she didn’t come home either. The family started to panic and when the morning came and none of her friends had seen her they called the police. Apparently Nicole had left on time to meet Reid, but Reid told everyone that she had never shown up.
A city wide search turned into a state search turned into a country wide search for the fifteen year old. Countless leads led the police in different directions, but they had no results. People were questioned, posters were put up, and the family appealed in every way possible for Nicole to come home, but nothing worked. Every time they thought they might catch a break they either hit a wall, or it all turned out to be nothing but false promises. It was honestly just like Nicole had vanished off the face of the earth. Over time, searches scaled back and efforts were relaxed. Reid watched his mother break down when the police eventually told her that they had no choice but to close the case. Nothing had found Nicole, and they had no clue if she was dead or alive. She had just gone.
Reid had watched everything from the side lines, but he missed his sister bitterly. He took a long time to pull himself together and spent a lot of time just playing with tricks, teaching himself useless skills like lockpicking and trying to accomplish lucid dreaming. Basically, Reid would do anything he could to try and keep his mind off Nicole, despite later feeling guilty for neglecting her. The house started to resemble a memorial and when Reid graduated he left for college because he couldn’t bear to stay in a place that was just like a crypt to Nicole’s memory. Darwin tried to get Susannah to move on, but she couldn’t. She would just sit in their house all day, framing photos and making scrapbooks of their daughter’s life. It wasn’t healthy and Reid couldn’t stay to watch it happen. He headed for New York where he went to college, studying business and marketing.
He never mentioned Nicole, and he worked hard to make a fresh start for himself. Reid kept his head down and worked hard, barely standing out from the crowd there. His college years passed by quickly, but returning home was horrible, just for the torture of watching his broken parents greet their son while still grieving for their daughter. He wished he could give them answers just so they might have some sort of closure. He felt awful for living his life when his mother couldn’t, and he knew his father was only going through the motions to keep them afloat financially. Still, Reid kept telling himself that Nicole wouldn’t want him to be wallowing when she had always been so full of life and pushing him to live his.
After graduating, Reid was fortunate enough to land himself a job with Apollo theatre as a Production Assistant. It’s a job he loves as his first job in the business, and he’s happy to stick there for now. He still wishes he could know what happened to Nicole, but he knows that dwelling on it will only drive him to madness. He just hopes that one day his parents might understand that, too.
